Having to attempt a simple jump 17 times because it just won’t work makes the experience incredibly frustrating. It’s such a shame because I love everything else. ### 3/5 — Mixed feelings… *2024-06-11, version 1.3* I generally enjoyed this game, but it seemed to fall short of its potential. The visuals are beautiful, but some areas are too dark, and ledges can be tricky to discern. The difficulty curve is excellent, but progress is frustrating because not every attempt to grab onto a ledge is successful. The narrative is loaded with potential but not adequately explained, and the ending seemed like a letdown. One thing I will say though - the music is perfect. What kept me coming back is that there’s plenty here for the completionist: hidden easter eggs and a bonus level. But even here there’s a problem, because the item tracker upgrade doesn’t seem to work, and finding all the hidden items is an infuriating chore without it. Finding the easter eggs is even harder, and I honestly wonder whether anyone has yet managed to find them all. The Library of Babel is worth the investment if you aren’t fussy about the storyline, you have plenty of patience, and you want a challenging platformer that will test your reflexes. However, there are no settings to control the player character’s movement speed which leads to far too many fails and restarts. The sound will only play in ear buds on Bluetooth with no means to make it otherwise. You need to fix that problem. going for a refund until it’s fixed. ### 3/5 — compelling, but... *2023-11-24, version 1.3* The good: Great graphics, great gameplay, okay enough story to keep interested, and not glaring problems in the overall game design The bad: Somethings are not entirely clear. For example, the menu that guides me to what the next task is, is not entirely clear. It said that the next task was to go to investigate the Hills of Ishtar, and I had a Keycard, but I didnt have the right Keycard. The task menu told me what was next, and I assumed that I had the right card, as the card Icon came up as I approached the door, but it obviously wasnt the right keycard. This turned out to be a problem because I had no idea how or where to get the next card. Everything seemed exhausted. This brings me to the next problem: There is no walk through or hint menu anywhere. The only thing I could find were some playthroughs on Youtube. Problem is, figuring where in the gameplay is the thing to get the thing. Once I figured out that getting the proper key required getting the flute, I tried exploring to figure out just how many steps back I had to go to get the items needed to get the flute. Eventually out of frustration I just decided to give up and delete the game. Its a good game, and the little homages were great: Prince of Persia, Metal Gear, Flappy Bird, etc... But not being able to get from a to b especially when getting stuck was immensely frustrating. Maybe Ill wait till it gets an update, or some more resources are available and give it another try. ### 4/5 — compelling, but... *2023-11-11* Sometimes I will get into a conversation and try to exit, but the game will keep looping back to the dialogue options. Also: Selecting items to use them does not always seem to work. Currently trying to select the v-17 keycard to open the door to the Ishtar Temple, and the game wont register the command. iPhone 14 Pro iOS 17.0.3 ### 2/5 — Stuck due to a bug *2023-09-26, version 1.2* Was really enjoying the game. Finally worked out how to get into the machinery room. Got to the purple anomaly and shot all the bugs! Came out of there and fixed the anomaly but now have a real bug! I cant clear the text at the bottom of the screen. The button just makes the character jump and now can’t move on. Emailed the developer a week ago and no reply. Disappointing to have spent so much time on the game and to feel getting close to the end to now find stuck in a glitch. ### 3/5 — Pretty good game, worst controls ever *2023-09-23, version 1.2* I want to like this game, but the controls are awful. Also, sound seems flaky. [Update] I way understated the controls issue. These controls are a good example of why touch screens are a terrible idea in cars. It’s far too easy to miss the precise place on the screen you’re trying to hit, and many of the platform parts of the game are super sensitive to precision. Its rare I get excited over gameplay but this managed it, it is outrageous that it hasn’t got 5 stars, the length alone is epic, then the story, variety of puzzles which at times were quite hard but so satisfying on completing and gorgeous graphics and side quests are all pitch perfect. Thank you for bringing this to iOS it has brought a smile to my face and it was worth every penny and then more. I only wish I could add more than 5 stars to give it the credit it so deserves on here. 1st review I’m really enjoying this so far, it took me a minute to get the hang of the controls but now it’s fantastic, great characters and lots to explore, good storyline and I think it will just get better and better. I feel an idiot as I previously said there was no sound, I eventually worked out it’s set very low and you can turn it up you just have to exit out twice to main menu not settings menu. I am now really loving this game and will definitely buy the pass!
