There are lots of opportunities to die along the way - brought on by dice rolls with 50/50 odds. That’s a bit harsh and isn’t a great way to stretch out a short game. A save system would have been a better choice. Thankfully, the story is short, so it’s easy enough to get through it - and worth the effort. It’s a good game overall. I really liked the humor. ### 5/5 — Short But Fun! *2023-05-31, version 1.3* A nice text based adventure well worth playing. ### 3/5 — Insanely short *2023-05-11* It’s probably half an hour long? And also it’s completely random - there’s no way you can improve your strength or dexterity. Not really worth the time. ### 4/5 — Luck of the draw *2023-04-19* The game has a simple but interesting enough storyline. You end up in the mines to save the day or perish (most likely multiple times). I don’t normally like text-based games but I did enjoy this game. The way the text pops up reminds reminds me webcomics; nice interface. Illustrations are a nice touch too. What I don’t like is a lot of decisions you make are based on what you dice you roll which are randomized, yet many times you don’t get a good roll— hence a poor outcome. It’s also pretty short. Neat mix of D&D style dice rolling and text-based RPG. ### 5/5 — Neat little story *2023-04-11* It everything has to be overly complicated and full of predatory systems. This was a nice adventure took me a few tries to get through was fun and refreshing. Look forward to more! ### 4/5 — A fun mix of choice and chance! *2019-08-21* There’s a lot to like in The Mines of Immortia: good presentation, an engaging but not too serious writing style, and a fun mix of Choose Your Own Adventure style interactive fiction choice with the occasional randomness of the Powered by the Apocalypse skill check system. This game would also serve as a good demo for someone new to tabletop RPGs who wonders what a game of Dungeon World might be like. To the developer: this was a lot of fun! If you update this game or make another like it, please consider implementing the option for the player to save their progress. After my first few deaths I gave up on starting over all the way from the beginning. But this is a small issue in an otherwise enjoyable experience. To the mines! ### 2/5 — Has potential, but ... *2019-08-14* Success is almost entirely based on 2d6 die-rolls where actions fail on a roll of 6 or less which almost alway results in death. With no bookmark/save function, you have to restart from the beginning after dying which becomes a real grind after only a few runs. I appreciate the challenge of permadeath but not when it’s based almost entirely on RNG. **Developer response:** That’s pretty fair criticism. Thank you for that.
