### 2.1.0(16) — 2026-08-31

• No more double refresh – Sending an image could make the display refresh twice, showing the same picture again a few seconds later. Voice commands could also send the same image twice. Both are fixed.

• Reliable voice control – Continuous listening no longer restarts every few seconds. In testing, a two‑minute session went from 29 engine restarts to 4, so the microphone stays ready far more of the time.

• Faster, steadier connection – Fixed a problem where the app could stop responding to the device after reconnecting, and one that made devices disappear from the scan list when several were nearby.

• Rename your device – Triple‑tap the device name in Settings to give it your own name. The name is saved on the device itself, so it's easy to tell several units apart.

• Drawing area no longer sent – The blue guide square used to restrict where you can draw is no longer included in the image sent to the display or saved to Photos.

• Clearer gallery errors – When the gallery can't be reached, the app now says so and offers a retry, instead of showing an empty screen.

• Voice language settings – Choose the recognition language directly in Settings, with better handling of numbers and keywords in English, Spanish and Chinese.

Third party image push – Sending photos from integrated partner apps is faster and more reliable

• Wi‑Fi upload is tried first; Bluetooth transfer is used automatically when needed.

• Pure Bluetooth workflow – Send and display images over BLE when Wi‑Fi is not available (firmware 1.8.81 or later recommended). Choose Wi‑Fi only, BLE only, or automatic fallback between them.

• Smoother display refresh – Fixed cases where the e-ink screen refreshed twice for a single image (no extra refresh after upload-with-display).

• Pure Bluetooth workflow – You can jump straight into working modes without configuring Wi‑Fi first. When your device firmware supports it, the app can send images over Bluetooth (BLE file transfer + refresh) without relying on the LAN.

• Flexible display triggers – Choose how the screen updates after an upload: Wi‑Fi /show only, BLE showImage only, Wi‑Fi first with BLE fallback, or BLE first with Wi‑Fi fallback—so you can match your setup (same Wi‑Fi, hotspot, or BLE‑only).

• Smarter uploads – If LAN HTTP upload fails but Bluetooth is connected, the app can fall back to BLE transfer when appropriate.

• Firmware guidance – When you use pure Bluetooth or newer BLE features, the app can remind you if the device firmware is below the recommended version and offer to open Settings to upgrade.

• Firmware update (Settings) – All firmware‑related messages (alerts, confirmations, progress, errors) now follow your selected app language.

• Share to the app (iOS) – Share images from other apps into The Missing Tape via the Share extension for quicker workflows.

Fixed Never sleep / max idle so settings apply correctly to the device (max_idle & sleep_duration).
Reduced an extra HTTP refresh after Wi‑Fi reconnect when the IP is unchanged, lowering spurious e‑ink flashes.
