I have the paper copy also, but this comment pertains to the digital pdf. ### 1/5 — Terrible subscriber interface *2020-07-17* I subscribed to the magazine on 7/14. After struggling with the interface I was finally able to get trigger a message that I should wait to log on until 8/4, that my subscription had not started. Yet another legacy publication that fails to transition to the internet effectively. ### 1/5 — Poor App Design *2020-04-10* The app says my login information is incorrect when I know I have entered my credentials correctly. Therefore it is unusable ### 1/5 — Unable to Download Owned Issues *2019-07-02* Have subscribed for a few years, but unable to download to my device any issues prior to 2019. Contacted The New Criterion and was told that if I had subscribed via the app there was nothing they could do. Contacted app developers and they didn’t even bother replying. Absolutely unacceptable. Apple should not allow this type of rogue trading. ### 1/5 — Worst Magazine App Ever *2019-05-07* The magazine is unreadable on the app. There is no contents page and one has to scroll through the entire issue to find anything. Pages are two column scans of the magazine’s paper format and do not fit to the page. Navigation and resizing pages to make the readable is a nightmare. Don’t brother. ### 1/5 — I would consider subscribing... *2011-12-25* But I don't really know what the magazine is about, and the preview of the magazine is a joke. Hint to the publishers: it's better to provide an article or two, or even part of an article, than to make your previews unreadable thumbnails of the pages of the magazine. That preview style may work for fashion magazines, but it most certainly doesn't work when the contents of your magazine are 100% text. Obviously, this magazine is written by intelligent people, who sadly have no understanding of marketing. Provide a better preview, and if I ever revisit the magazine, I might give a better rating. ### 2/5 — Difficult to use app *2022-01-16, version 19.0* Hard after many at ### 3/5 — Great magazine, one big flaw *2021-10-07* The flaw is that you can’t alter the font size. It is very hard to use. It would be simpler to print the articles on paper and read them there. The text does not paginate or adjust to the device size. There is no find way to bookmark pages. There is no dark mode. There is no integration with Apple News. ### 5/5 — Wonderful magazine, horrifically awful app. *2019-09-18* Great articles, but the app, which simply presents pdf-like copies of the issues, lags on my iphone x and, astoundingly, doesn’t save your spot in an issue, which is ridiculous. ### 5/5 — UPDATE!
