### 2/5 — Waste of time

*2026-02-02*

The map doesn’t tell you where anything is. As you move from one room to another there’s always someone blocking traffic in the doorway with his nose buried in his phone, oblivious to surroundings. I stopped using the app halfway through the bottom floor. I don’t need to read commentary by someone who doesn’t know that just because you can see a skull’s teeth doesn’t mean it’s smiling. Skulls can’t smile. They have no lips or facial muscles. Teeth may suggest that a living person is smiling, but on a skull, they’re just teeth.

### 1/5 — Sexist!

*2021-12-31*

In the museum there is a ladies lounge with two piccassos! If that ain’t sexist, I don’t know what is.

### 2/5 — MONA Experience

*2021-12-17*

I like the museum of super symmetry and other but I think there is too much sexual references in the museum.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2021-01-27*

So long to install and you spend your time on the phone instead on the art.

### 3/5 — Needs more guidance upon arrival

*2018-01-12*

Needs more instructions to connect to the wifi network called 'Mona Free Wifi' when you arrive or it won't work. I was fiddling around for ten minutes on Basement Level 3 before I could get it working. For best experience I recommend turning on airplane mode, then turn on wifi, and turn on Bluetooth. It also seems to work better if you don't use Bluetooth headphones like AirPods

### 1/5 — Disappointed (AI narration in an art museum…)

*2026-05-24*

MONA is such a brilliant collection of art. The reliance on a smartphone to experience it is incredibly disappointing. Most of us want to be off our phones and experiencing life instead you are forced to be glued to it to read anything about the art. I was further angered by the listen function thinking I could wander around and put my phone down but the listen function is AI narrated! I was livid. Do better MONA, small signs for all artworks and pay a voice actor to narrate your app.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2026-01-19*

I go to museum to spend less time on my phone it’s really annoying to spend so many time on is phone during an exhibition
The old school way with a written texte next to the art piece is always better

### 1/5 — Dummy’s eyes

*2025-09-22*

Forced to use it as being given a paper map info was environmentally unsound (I was told). The software application gave the wrong floor and with no floor plans available guess what, I required a human. Yes, there is some good information on some of the exhibits but being forced to use the app and their wifi (not safe according to my iPhone) feels like being a small cog in their poker machine. I was living the lie-dream of the casino soul scheme.

### 1/5 — No escape

*2025-01-24*

Spend your life glued to your phone. Go to a museum to escape the daily grind. Spend your visit glued to your phone. Great concept.

### 1/5 — Stupid

*2025-01-17*

This art gallery is really weird and bad(I didn’t think modern art was that bad but 😭)

### 1/5 — illuminati

*2025-01-16*

illuminati wifi

### 1/5 — Overrated in every way

*2025-01-12*

So to see MONA you need to fry your phone battery. It’s a gimmicky app for a gimmicky gallery. Worse still, the descriptions rarely explain the work properly.

### 1/5 — Messed up

*2024-01-21*

This place has no actual art and is a waste
Of money and time. There are pictures of dead people and insults god.

### 1/5 — Need to use their network

*2022-10-01*

To use the app you need to connect to theory network. That's a hard no from me.

### 1/5 — Mona Museum

*2022-07-11*

This was not a very good museum all you could see was dicks and fannys I would not recommend this to anyone.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So good

*2026-06-27*

this app is so good, it’s so good for students when going on an excursion to Mona, and it’s more fun then just the usual didactics.

### 5/5 — Coole Sache

*2025-12-23, version 4.2.0*

### 5/5 — The O

*2025-04-29, version 3.11.10*

A definite must-have for your visit to MONA. The gallery staff are super knowledgeable & helpful They use The O to get all their information, well mostly. It’s easy to use and full of information. Get it

### 5/5 — Enhances Experience

*2025-01-07*

I found the app to greatly support my time at the Mona. I was able to navigate the space, book spots for experiences, and get more in depth information about my visit. Highly recommend using the app when you go.

### 5/5 — yay dicks!

*2023-08-03*

I love the museum, so many dicks and fannies!

### 5/5 — Really good apps and interesting Museum worth to go

*2017-09-14*

Went to the MONA museum and gallary today, and find lots of interesting pieces of masterworks. Best gallary in Australia! Worth to go!

### 3/5 — Good app but could be better

*2026-08-22*

I had a hard time trying to find the app, why don’t just name it MONA or even better the “Monapp”. Anyway, the discovery button is great, easy to find things around you. However, when searching for specific things the app prompts you with the info, but doesn’t say where are they located or how to get there.

### 3/5 — The map needs a “breadcrumb” feature

*2026-06-22*

Hi there the app is mostly really good. It presents really well but the map needs some refinement. In particular. It needs a breadcrumb feature so you can retrace your steps especially now you’ve got Elektra and Phrontisterion. Thanks

### 3/5 — Klasse Idee

*2025-04-18, version 3.11.9*

### 3/5 — Onsite access only

*2019-05-12*

It worked great while we were at the museum. The app isn’t able to find my visit history so once we leave the area, it won’t allow access to list of exhibits or details of exhibits.
