## What is The Observant Mom?

Child developmental milestones from 18 months to 8 years. Older milestones will be added as they are ready. These are the child developmental milestones as found at The Observant Mom website but now in calendar form! Parenting Tips now added!

These milestones are the notorious “stages” or “phases” that children go through. These are those times when children “act up,” but it’s because new skills are emerging. This work documents both what the irritating behavior is and what the new skills are. Simply enter your child’s due date into the app, and a calendar is generated with their expected developmental milestones. Simply click on any colored date and get instant information about your child! Add as many children as you want. Add as many children as you want.

Countless have said that this work helps them stay patient as a parent or caregiver. Be sure to share this information with family and friends.

### 2/5 — Limited use

Friend recommended this app, after playing with it I don’t believe that every child or should I say my child has only 2 main stages- especially as their navigating such emotionally charged seasons. Emotions range and having to only select from the windows and not when the EDD range notes the periods is unrealistic when I’m paying to put information and emotions my child is going through. Will be uninstalling after a week of navigating the app. Disappointed but so glad it works for my friend and others.

**Developer response:** Hello, I am sorry you had a disappointing experience with the app. To clarify, it seems your main concern is when you can use the optional feature to enter when you saw the behavior of your child, which can be more "gray" than the descriptions allow? In the near future, I plan on adding a feature where users can describe what they saw, if this helps. The lists usually attempt to describe a range of behaviors that might possibly be seen. If you have suggestions for improvement, please email me at helloamber@gmail.com.

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

I have been using this app for years and find it very insightful (and eerily accurate!) for my daughter. Its so interesting and helpful to know what’s going on for my little. I highly recommend this app to my friends. Please keep up the great work!

**Developer response:** Thank you, Melissa, for your 5-star review of The Observant mom app and work! I love being a little eerie. :p Feel free to email me at helloamber@gmail.com with any comments or concerns.

### 5/5 — SOOO accurate!

A neighbor who is an early childhood educator recommended this app to me, and wow is it amazing. The information here is clearly a labor of love. The descriptions of the milestones are uncannily accurate right down to some of the example scenarios. It makes me feel so much better knowing milestones where it seems like my kids’ behavior is totally mystifying are very developmentally normal and appropriate. It also helps me coach better as a parent. Thank you!!!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! I am so glad to hear the app helps! The work most definitely is a labor of love!

### 5/5 — A great piece of parenting help!

*2025-02-22, version 1.0.26*

Amber has clearly dedicated her life to child development. The observations are so detailed. It’s great to be able to see what is happening in your child (and it really often does match up so perfectly!)

I really appreciate the work she’s put into this and hope someday the app will go past 8 years.

### 5/5 — A parents best friend!

*2025-01-27*

I am a mom of three and early childhood educator, and this app has not only helped me understand my own children, but support other parents in their journey as well. I know when a leap is coming, understand that my child’s behavior is developmental and not take it personally, and support them through times of emotional development. It’s always so accurate! Anytime I notice a change in my child’s behavior I open the app and it explains why, right down to the fact that one day my son‘s bicycle helmet suddenly did not fit in the app told us he would be experiencing growth in his head that week.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much, Meghan, for your 5-star review! I am so glad the work helps you both as a parent and child educator! If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact me at helloamber@gmail.com.

### 1/5 — Not the best start.

*2024-08-26, version 1.0.25*

Downloaded the app and it won’t save my child’s information, so can’t get any further. Everytime I enter it and press save, I get thrown out of the app.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny!!!

Spot on & immensely helpful information on age-related developmental milestones for your growing child. I am so thankful I found this content to continue after wonderweeks/leaps left me hanging high & dry at 2yo. THANK YOU AMBER! You are every parents hero! Keep going!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your 5-star review!! I am so glad the information helps and thank you for your kind words!

### 5/5 — TO A TEE

I absolutely love all of her work. This app is extremely useful and helpful (especially during those intense periods). I’ve had this app for a while and Everything about the milestones for the age of the child is extremely accurate! I recommend to all my mama friends!

**Developer response:** I am so glad you find the app so useful and helpful! Thank you very much for your 5-star review!

### 5/5 — Best app ever!

*2024-04-29*

I am so thankful for this app! The timing of my child's calmer times and more intense/difficult times are SO accurate. Like eerily accurate. It’s very useful. It helps me respond more compassionately when I remember that she's having a hard time because her brain is working on big developmental leaps. I seriously schedule things like photoshoots or trips for times when she'll be in a more sunny/easy period! The insight that this research provides into what skills my child is working on are fascinating! I'm so grateful for the work put into it and recommend it to all the moms I know!

**Developer response:** Thank you, Amanda for your 5-star review! 🙏 I am so glad the app and research helps so much!
