### 4/5 — Ok

*2023-09-04, version 1.0.21*

Could be more user friendly

### 5/5 — Knowledge is power

*2023-07-24, version 1.0.19*

I absolutely love this app. I sing it’s praises to all my friends with little ones. It really helps put childhood development into perspective and has some wonderful tools to help navigate through some challenging seasons. Amber has done a brilliant job creating this app and I can’t thank her enough for helping me not feel so alone through my motherhood journey. Lina from Australia :)

### 5/5 — 4th Time Mom First Time App User

*2023-07-24*

While I thought I had things pretty dialed in as a 4th time mom this app has been so enlightening and helpful. Very timely and helpful information that helps navigate my toddlers growth and behaviors with extra grace and understanding.

**Developer response:** I am so glad you find the app enlightening and helpful! Thank you so much for your review!

### 5/5 — This app is a must have!!

*2023-05-16, version 1.0.16*

Found the observant mom website when I was struggling to find anything similar to the wonder weeks app I had been using. It was an absolute godsend when I was struggling with my toddlers behaviour. When I started reading “ misbehaviour is growth” it all started to make sense. I can tell with the help of the app when my children are going through developmental stages and can find ways to help them. I have recommended the book/ app to many of my friends and my child’s nursery school. I would definitely rate it 5⭐️

### 5/5 — Waste of money

*2023-04-28*

App did not work well for me. It said to tap the date for more information and that did not work. The dates were untappable. Complete waste of money.

**Developer response:** Hello, I'm sorry this happened. Typically when this happens, the child is outside the age range that the app covers, which is 18 months to 72 months. If this is not the case, would send an email to helloamber@gmail.com with the due date entered so we can get to the bottom of what happened? Refunds for apps are otherwise handled through the App Store via "Report a Problem."

### 5/5 — Bridges the Gap for Developmental Understanding

*2023-02-10*

There’s so much about being a parent that is unknown. There was a lot that I didn’t understand about my children’s behavior until I started reading content from The Observant Mom. It helps to know areas where my kids need extra support and ways I can help facilitate their growth in different areas. Honestly, this app has helped a lot with taking away anxiety about different developmental phases. I’m grateful! If you’re a parent, caregiver, childcare worker, or interact with young kids regularly this app is more than worth it!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this review! I am so happy to hear the work helps support parents by reducing anxiety and helping them know when their kids need extra support!

### 5/5 — Very helpful!

*2023-01-29, version 1.0.11*

So helpful for my 3 year old! Excited to use it when my youngest is of age!

### 5/5 — Great resource

*2023-01-10*

I was so happy when a friend referred me to this series. I loved “The Wonder Weeks” book since my son was an infant so I was happy to find this when he aged out of their research/work. Always amazed at how accurate it is when checking what’s going on with my 4 year old. Thanks for the work you do!!

**Developer response:** I am so glad the information helps! Thank you so much for your review!

### 5/5 — Invaluable app for parents!

*2023-01-07, version 1.0.11*

I love this app! I had followed my sons child development milestones and sleep patterns/behaviors very closely as an infant. This app along with Amber Dombrowzki’s accompanying books have been such an invaluable help as my son continues to grow. His behavior development patterns very closely follow her research. It has helped me make the most of these often frustrating developmentally emotional growth spurts. This app will help you develop much more insight, understanding and patience.

**Developer response:** I am so glad to hear the research resonates and helps! Thank you so much for your review!

### 5/5 — Love this app!!

*2023-01-07, version 1.0.11*

I love this app….
Being a mum to two toddlers this has been so beneficial and explaining what they go through and how we can help and support them
I have recommended it to all my friends with children!

### 4/5 — Fills a hole in the market! Toddler and older child milestones

*2022-08-05*

For those who experience a cliff of understanding when other baby milestone and development leap guides end at 18months this fills the void. It’s much more detailed and really helps me understand my child. Sometimes the skills and examples are very specific and don’t seem to match what is going on with my child but the descriptions are such that I can see what his version is.

**Developer response:** Hello, so glad the app helps. Yeah, the descriptions are specific, so as to paint a picture of what is going, but of which hopefully shows a pattern such that parents can see their child. Thank you for your review!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not the best start.

*2024-08-26, version 1.0.25*

Downloaded the app and it won’t save my child’s information, so can’t get any further. Everytime I enter it and press save, I get thrown out of the app.

### 1/5 — Life Changing App for toddlers+

*2023-08-17*

I once was an avid Pinterest user pre-baby. I came across Amber’s milestone info and pinned it. Months later when I was curious about developmental leaps and milestones, I began reading her detailed and copious notes that aligned with my toddler’s behavior. I found it so helpful. I then printed it and put it in a binder for reference (and began marking the calendar accordingly). I shared with friends. Then one day my mom friend said “she has an app!” Now I have both my kids in the app and I can see whats going on…and almost every time we are in the RED/INTENSE phase and I find peace in know I’m not crazy. Amber is SO SPOT ON with her behavioral assessments it’s mind blowing. I tell everyone about this app. I think I have 5+ friends using it. Get the app! Money well spent!

**Developer response:** Hello, I am so glad to hear that the work helps! Thank you also for sharing with friends! Given the nature of your review, I think the rating might me off. It is currently rated as 1 star.

### 1/5 — It’s a dead app

*2022-11-08, version 1.0.5*

This app doesn’t seem to be maintained.

### 1/5 — Dead, don’t bother!

*2022-10-21, version 1.0.5*

I’m guessing this app is dead because there hasn’t been an update in 9 months and I just bought it and there’s nothing but a blank calendar on my app :/

### 1/5 — Confused

*2022-01-03, version 1.0.3*

Hi I am so confused I downloaded the app but it doesn’t seem to work ? There seems to be no highlighted days then when I press my sons name one or two appear but I can’t click them when I press my sons name again different days highlight but again I can’t press these ? There is no info given ?

### 2/5 — Limited use

*2026-02-21*

Friend recommended this app, after playing with it I don’t believe that every child or should I say my child has only 2 main stages- especially as their navigating such emotionally charged seasons. Emotions range and having to only select from the windows and not when the EDD range notes the periods is unrealistic when I’m paying to put information and emotions my child is going through. Will be uninstalling after a week of navigating the app. Disappointed but so glad it works for my friend and others.

**Developer response:** Hello, I am sorry you had a disappointing experience with the app. To clarify, it seems your main concern is when you can use the optional feature to enter when you saw the behavior of your child, which can be more "gray" than the descriptions allow? In the near future, I plan on adding a feature where users can describe what they saw, if this helps. The lists usually attempt to describe a range of behaviors that might possibly be seen. If you have suggestions for improvement, please email me at helloamber@gmail.com.

### 2/5 — Disappointed this doesn’t cover all ages

*2023-07-23, version 1.0.19*

Great app but only goes up to 6.5 years, really disappointing given the website goes up to 10 years.

### 3/5 — I

*2026-05-17, version 1.0.27*

### 3/5 — So many glitches already

*2024-02-09*

I have a 2.5 year old and am due with my second in less than 30 days. I wanted an app where I could check up on both children. This was recommended in a local Facebook group. Love the look of it, however iy keeps force closing on me. Not allowing me to upload pictures for each child. And when I close out and go back in to try again. It never loads or glitches out and closes on me! Also happened while I was trying to make the children’s profile! Hope they get fixed so I can use this app religiously and hopefully update my review to 5/5!

**Developer response:** Hello, I am sorry this was your experience. Please send the model name and number of your device to helloamber@gmail.com and maybe we can get to the bottom of this.

### 3/5 — It’s okay

*2023-11-28*

The app itself is really cool! I like the calendar format for seeing the information, however I thought the app would involve some tips and tricks for dealing with difficult times. The app is really just the same as the website, which is free..

**Developer response:** The Observant Mom app now offers Parenting Tips!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

*2025-07-20*

I have been using this app for years and find it very insightful (and eerily accurate!) for my daughter. Its so interesting and helpful to know what’s going on for my little. I highly recommend this app to my friends. Please keep up the great work!

**Developer response:** Thank you, Melissa, for your 5-star review of The Observant mom app and work! I love being a little eerie. :p Feel free to email me at helloamber@gmail.com with any comments or concerns.

### 5/5 — SOOO accurate!

*2025-03-25*

A neighbor who is an early childhood educator recommended this app to me, and wow is it amazing. The information here is clearly a labor of love. The descriptions of the milestones are uncannily accurate right down to some of the example scenarios. It makes me feel so much better knowing milestones where it seems like my kids’ behavior is totally mystifying are very developmentally normal and appropriate. It also helps me coach better as a parent. Thank you!!!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! I am so glad to hear the app helps! The work most definitely is a labor of love!

### 5/5 — A great piece of parenting help!

*2025-02-22, version 1.0.26*

Amber has clearly dedicated her life to child development. The observations are so detailed. It’s great to be able to see what is happening in your child (and it really often does match up so perfectly!)

I really appreciate the work she’s put into this and hope someday the app will go past 8 years.

### 5/5 — A parents best friend!

*2025-01-27*

I am a mom of three and early childhood educator, and this app has not only helped me understand my own children, but support other parents in their journey as well. I know when a leap is coming, understand that my child’s behavior is developmental and not take it personally, and support them through times of emotional development. It’s always so accurate! Anytime I notice a change in my child’s behavior I open the app and it explains why, right down to the fact that one day my son‘s bicycle helmet suddenly did not fit in the app told us he would be experiencing growth in his head that week.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much, Meghan, for your 5-star review! I am so glad the work helps you both as a parent and child educator! If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact me at helloamber@gmail.com.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny!!!

*2024-07-11*

Spot on & immensely helpful information on age-related developmental milestones for your growing child. I am so thankful I found this content to continue after wonderweeks/leaps left me hanging high & dry at 2yo. THANK YOU AMBER! You are every parents hero! Keep going!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your 5-star review!! I am so glad the information helps and thank you for your kind words!

### 5/5 — TO A TEE

*2024-05-28*

I absolutely love all of her work. This app is extremely useful and helpful (especially during those intense periods). I’ve had this app for a while and Everything about the milestones for the age of the child is extremely accurate! I recommend to all my mama friends!

**Developer response:** I am so glad you find the app so useful and helpful! Thank you very much for your 5-star review!

### 5/5 — Best app ever!

*2024-04-29*

I am so thankful for this app! The timing of my child's calmer times and more intense/difficult times are SO accurate. Like eerily accurate. It’s very useful. It helps me respond more compassionately when I remember that she's having a hard time because her brain is working on big developmental leaps. I seriously schedule things like photoshoots or trips for times when she'll be in a more sunny/easy period! The insight that this research provides into what skills my child is working on are fascinating! I'm so grateful for the work put into it and recommend it to all the moms I know!

**Developer response:** Thank you, Amanda for your 5-star review! 🙏 I am so glad the app and research helps so much!

### 5/5 — Insightful

*2024-04-10, version 1.0.25*

I have found the developmental tracking to be very helpful in raising my youngest son. I appreciate the work the creator has put into this.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2023-09-20*

I periodically check the website when I feel my toddler (…and myself) are having some growing pains. It definitely puts my mind at ease to know it is all perfectly normal and healthy. I went to the site today and saw they had an app! I bought the app immediately and love it even more since it gives you day to week tracking of where your child’s at. Apps are just much more convenient also.

**Developer response:** So glad to hear the work and app helps put your mind at ease! Thank you so much for your review!!
