### 3/5 — Plan Trip broken

*2026-08-07, version 4.18.0*

Trip planning used to be fantastic. The new app is terrible.
The planner only shows two options now and departure times are incorrect because they include walking to the station that I start from. Departure also don’t update when refresh is selected.
Favorite stations are not an option anymore for the trip planner

### 3/5 — decent app but ridiculous system

*2026-08-02, version 4.17.0*

platforms are like 120 degrees with 80% humidity, constant "PSA" ads, and the G train at Bed Stuy station has the front car of the train hanging into the tunnel with the last car on the train a ten minute walk from the other end of the platform with signs saying "train stops at the middle of the platform," bus drivers go off duty mid route randomly, unreliable system

### 2/5 — Bring back the old app

*2026-07-30, version 4.17.0*

The old app was so much more straightforward and intuitive. It allowed for more search flexibility and wasn’t tied to location date. Shame!

### 1/5 — Who designed this app?

*2026-07-11, version 4.14.0*

It’s almost like the people who developed this app don’t actually ride the subway themselves. The outdated version 2 builds ago was much better. Wish I hadn’t been forced to get rid of it.

### 1/5 — Why you can’t use Access a ride

*2026-07-10, version 4.14.0*

Why can’t you use the access a ride within the app no more. It’s takes you to the online website now. I liked when you can book and view your trips in the app.

### 1/5 — Redesign Bugs and UI Issues

*2026-07-09, version 4.14.0*

I was fine with redesign at first but it’s infuriating how when I open the app, it doesn’t show the actually station I’m closet to, instead it shows Myrtle-wycoff L even though I’m closer to a different L station. I have to actually tap the station I’m closet to to then get ETA information. Also the trip planning flow is so much worse than before, it completely doesn’t match the designs of the rest of the app with a weird “powered by google” autocomplete and was clearly rushed by the dev team

### 3/5 — street name font too small

*2026-07-08, version 4.14.0*

street name font too small, does not enlarge,
train / buss separate if i take a buss i don’t know what train is close by. timing is as good as the station but doesn’t notify that train is not going to stop (express on-local track).

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-07-05, version 4.14.0*

The app is absolutely terrible. It is not intuitive and when I wanna search only one route like seven of them come up based on where I live I understand it’s supposed to be easier, but it really isn’t when you don’t give the customers the option to only look for one route, and as opposed to doing it location based. Also the arrow of where it’s going is absolutely horrendous. Just give me the option in the wording. Do I look like a compass to yall?

### 3/5 — Not Workin

*2026-07-01, version 4.14.0*

Is for AAR… I updated today & now my AAR is not workin & i can not book my rides which i need.. PLEASE FIX IT.. THANK YOU

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-07-01, version 4.14.0*

Absolutely terrible. Almost as bad as the MTA itself. The map is confusing. Standing in Queens Plaza station and it gives me times for Court Square. Said the next train was 27 minutes away as a train pulled up. This app is completely useless.

### 4/5 — EDIT: widgets back

*2026-07-01, version 4.13.0*

widgets are finally back - thank you. please add notifications of delays and it will literally be perfect

### 1/5 — 1 star

*2026-06-30, version 4.13.0*

Why did you all change the app to your preference??? It was fine before I’m looking for trains at the station I am in and the app is showing me other trains and trains stations that I do not care about?

### 1/5 — app works great but bus drivers are horrible

*2026-06-26, version 4.13.0*

you have to dive in front and get hit by the bus for it to stop for you, so the stop times aren't really accurate when the buses don't even stop

### 4/5 — Widgets are back

*2026-06-26, version 4.13.0*

Widgets are the most useful feature, so they're nice to have back.

Route planning feels a bit obtuse, and I wish I could view all of my favorite stations on the Subway screen rather than only what's nearby.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible - Google Maps Always Better

*2026-08-15, version 4.19.0*

The app doesn’t connect when you need it. It does not give the best options. It is strange how GoogleMaps uses the same info, but finds more and better routes. The app is all around terrible.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-08-12, version 4.18.0*

Freezes and unable to close to get to an other train page. Timing is off. Status updates confusing and not fast enough.

### 1/5 — Make the app less smart

*2026-07-31, version 4.17.0*

The apps is unpredictable. It automatically picks the direction of the bus for me. You can swap directions for trains but not for busses.

### 1/5 — Just horrendous and useless

*2026-07-30, version 4.17.0*

Reviews claiming the app redesign, from the previous version, is great are most likely BS. This app from useful to completely horrible! If ain’t broken don’t fix it.

Mayor Mamdani should get on their case and make them fix this travesty!

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2026-07-29, version 4.16.0*

Decided to go with a third party app - this is not intuitive and very much more complicated than needed

### 1/5 — Not updated train times

*2026-07-18, version 4.15.0*

When using Google Maps and MTA, I mistakenly thought MTA would have more accurate train time arrivals. No, Google Maps was right and I missed a train that arrived earlier on a different level. NEVER AGAIN MTA!

### 1/5 — New version = bad UI

*2026-07-16, version 4.15.0*

Trying again to use this app, but all I want to do is see the different routes simply I don’t care what’s near me. I am looking up something else, but this app forces you too look at the stops near you

### 1/5 — Solid app, horrible signage IRL

*2026-07-15, version 4.14.0*

Trains frequently labeled wrong, tough to get where you're going even with a nice mobile app. The trains are just labeled wrong. Buses display incorrect info on bus signage. Good app, nice update, but the buses and trains are often / always labeled with wrong info. Trains have signs that say 'New Lots Brooklyn" in bold font when that train is going to Manhattan. Can't tell you how many meetings with new clients I've missed just being too trusting of train signage- YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW, the signs are literally always wrong on some lines about what direction the train will go. Just get on the train and find out where it's going, there's no other way to find out

### 1/5 — Cannot plan a single trip

*2026-07-14*

In the past the app planned the entire trip. Now after dozens of attempts, all I could get is unable to “unable to load directions”. This made my trip to nyc much worst.

### 1/5 — Terrible Redesign

*2026-07-13, version 4.14.0*

The redesign is a nightmare. Nobody asked for adaptive smart features for geolocation. It makes it nearly impossible to estimate when you’ll arrive in real time when there’s a train delay. Not to mention that it eats up SO much data. I’m on Metro by T Mobile… the MyMTA version of the app actually loaded on the platform. This does not bc it’s too much data for when it’s crowded. I have to look up train status from the street and then remember that before I go in the subway. This is a redesign for the rich and data collection

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great upgrades

*2026-08-18, version 4.19.0*

I love how they continuously improve the app features. Well designed and very easy to use.

### 5/5 — Deserved the FIVE STAR review.

*2026-08-13, version 4.19.0*

One of most useful App i have seen so far on the App Store or anywhere else.
It shows you exact time and if there is a delay or alert that is on the track you are traveling from or to.
I choose to give Five Star.

### 5/5 — Useful Widget

*2026-07-08, version 4.14.0*

The best feature of this app for me is the countdown timer widget. I haven’t found another transit app that has a similar widget that you can configure for a specific station.

### 5/5 — Perfect.

*2026-07-07, version 4.14.0*

No notes.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2026-07-07, version 4.14.0*

Deleted the “Transit App” after the MTA app upgrade

### 5/5 — app works great

*2026-07-01, version 4.13.0*

App is amazing, great to be able to see all the live info.

### 5/5 — awesome

*2026-06-23, version 4.13.0*

impressed, excellent app by any standard, world class stuff tbh, super upgrade lately

### 5/5 — Babxdbvd

*2026-06-12, version 4.12.0*

Bsbwvev

### 5/5 — Wow! Amazingly

*2026-06-07, version 4.11.0*

Very very un-happy! Bus times are out of sync. Reading the new app is honestly happily difficult and brain go overboard!

### 5/5 — Better than 3rd parties, AD free

*2026-06-06, version 4.11.0*

I found this app to be extremely helpful and accurate during my very first trip to NYC. I rode many trains to many destinations and had no issues. Once you get the hang of things, the subway system is very easy to navigate. I did download a highly rated third party app and found the official MTA app to be superior, and also ad free.
