### 3/5 — This could be a great app!

*2026-07-19*

This is one of the most visually appealing fitness apps I’ve used!

The interface is clean, modern, colorful, and does an excellent job presenting workout data. I also appreciate how much information is available—from training load and endurance fitness to heart rate zones and workout trends.

My biggest criticism is that the app often assumes users already understand advanced exercise physiology.

For example, labels like “Low Aerobic Shortage,” “High Aerobic,” and “Anaerobic” are presented without enough explanation of how the app defines those terms. During one of my indoor walking workouts, the app classified 67% of the session as anaerobic, which seemed surprising for a steady 50-minute walk. Whether the app is correct or not isn’t really the issue—the issue is that it never explains why it reached that conclusion.

I would love to see each metric include a brief explanation answering three simple questions:

• What does this metric measure?
• Why did I receive this result?
• What can I do to improve it?

Even something as simple as a tappable “Learn More” button beneath each chart would dramatically improve the experience. The app already excels at collecting and displaying data; now it needs to excel at helping users understand what that data means.

Overall, this is one of the most promising fitness apps I’ve tried. With clearer explanations and more educational context, I think it could become one of the best fitness platforms available.

### 3/5 — Grundsätzlich super Idee

*2026-07-08*

**Developer response:** Hi! What you're experiencing can happen if there are multiple sleep data sources writing different or conflicting data into Health. I'm happy to look into that and help you set it up correctly. Please drop by support@theoutsiders.app. Thanks, Vid

### 2/5 — Pay to Play, missing integration

*2026-06-03*

There’s no trial, the “premium” buttons clutter the interface to a point of being unusable and there’s no integration apart from Apple Health and Garmin. The developer expects me to pay upfront, not take my training history with me and for that privilege doesn’t even offer ecosystem integration.

This is not an app for a “serious athlete”, this is an Apple-ified take on what someone believes a serious athlete to be. It’s a toy dressing itself up in adult clothes, hair gel and lipstick. If it actually was, it’d feature integrations with Polar, Coros and Suunto as well as an extensive list of third-party services – even as read-only. Requiring Apple Health as an intermediary is antithetical to the stated “on device only” idea.

It’s probably meant as an add-on for Apple watch users to provide training insights Apple itself doesn’t care enough to pursue. But I couldn’t test that, because there’s no trial and no integration apart from Apple Health and Garmin.

Without adaptive training plans and corresponding ecosystem sync, it’s also little more than a pretty dashboard of values any “serious athlete” already knows how to interpret. If that’s what you’re looking for, go for it. As an actual, useful training tool it’s sadly rather pointless.

### 3/5 — Good for cardio and HIIT exercises only

*2026-06-02, version 1.7.2*

It does not capture the exertion levels for strength training exercises well. Something the team needs to look into.

### 5/5 — Love it all

*2026-06-02, version 1.7.2*

Great app with guidance and now Garmin integration. I would love if Suunto was introduced as another brand to integrate!

### 5/5 — The app I’ve been looking for

*2026-06-02*

They did it, this is exactly what I wanted. Straightforward training readiness based on my Apple Watch’s overnight metrics (including HRV), along with training load analysis without being in your face or trying to tell you what workout to do. The new widgets are the icing on the cake!

### 5/5 — Solide

*2026-06-01*

### 5/5 — Useful, Segment Leader!

*2026-06-01*

This app provides information that no other app (which is not associated with a fitness tracking watch) provides. The training readiness and goals feature is really useful.
The UI/UX both are very thoughtfully made. This app deserves all the recognition for the work that the developers are doing.

### 5/5 — Beautiful and clean

*2026-05-31*

very nice and clean UI. I like the overviews and it’s the perfect combo with Gentler Streak!
I don’t quite get the app logo yet, but maybe I am just blind👀

### 5/5 — Absolutely love the design of the app

*2026-05-31*

Have been a fan of its sister app: Gentler Streak. And a similar if not better design quality has been followed through in this app as well.

### 5/5 — The best gets better

*2026-05-31*

If you love Gentler Streak, you already know this development team excels at creating beautiful, compassionate, and beautifully designed apps. The Outsiders is no exception. It brings that same gorgeous, signature illustration style and user-first philosophy to outdoor tracking.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-05-31*

Great fitness tracker with real science backed metrics, and no ai fluff

### 3/5 — Teuer

*2026-05-31*

### 5/5 — Nice option to Garmin

*2026-05-31*

I’m tired of my ultra runner friends and their Garmin watches. They’re not bad (the watches ;) but I still prefer my Apple Watch and want something sort of similar in aiding me on my fitness life. Now my bad friends who don’t use the Apple Watch…well I’ll just have to accept them.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on The Outsiders. While we're able to create a great app, we can't change your friends and their taste in watches, so you'll just have to accept them, yes 😜 Thanks again 💜 Vid

### 5/5 — Die App ist super

*2026-05-31*

### 5/5 — Redefined the way I think about fitness

*2026-05-30*

I’ve always struggled with fitness burnout, pushing myself too hard and then taking weeks off due to illness/injury. Being able to see at a glance when to push and when to recover has gotten me to the fittest I’ve ever been in my entire life

### 5/5 — Excelente aplicación

*2026-05-30, version 1.7.1*

Funciona fantástico en Apple Watch

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — More features and google health integration

*2026-07-11*

Missing lot of features like strain, recovery, sleep score and stress details important one Google health and fit but air integration. Also need weight body metric standards.

### 1/5 — Não me convenceu

*2026-06-02*

**Developer response:** Hi! That doesn't sound right. Could you drop by support@theoutsiders.app so we can take a look and help you set it up correctly? Thanks, Vid -
你可以发邮件到 support@theoutsiders.app 吗？

### 1/5 — Crooks. Should be banned

*2026-05-13*

Forcing people who paid the subscription to pay for another one. Gentler streak had all the features but they wanted more. So, now you have to pay two subscriptions.

### 1/5 — Makes no sense

*2026-02-22*

Similar to Gentler Streak, but worse. It's just a new app for the company to profit from, which is fine, but we expect a better experience and different features or an app that complements the first one.

### 1/5 — Me senti enganado

*2026-02-18*

Absurdo

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on The Outsiders. Technically, that could be done, yes. But we decided against it, as we are talking to two very different mindsets, and joining the two would compromise the experience - as the motivation and intent lie elsewhere for each group.
Gentler Streak is a lifestyle tool - it helps people stay active on their terms, aiming for balance, health, and feeling good in their bodies. It’s inclusive, approachable, and meant for anyone who wants movement to be a companion to life, not the whole story.
The Outsiders is for athletes who train with intent. They’re already self-motivated, often self-coached, and driven by progress, data, and structure. They don’t just exercise, they train, and they want performance insights that go deep without distraction.
If we mixed both into one app, Gentler Streak would stop being the simple, accessible companion it is today. Keeping them separate protects what makes Gentler Streak unique while giving performance-driven athletes a tool built just for them. Thanks, Vid

### 1/5 — manque l’actualisation directe !

*2026-02-13*

Merci !

**Developer response:** Hi! Could you drop by support@theoutsiders.app so we can take a look? Thanks, Vid
Bonjour ! Merci, Vid

### 1/5 — crashed on iOS26

*2025-09-18, version 1.0.1*

crash

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice app and modern interface

*2026-07-28*

Really like the design waiting for features like body battery , bio age , stress

**Developer response:** Hi! Noted. We are now working with twice the speed😉. Thanks for your help. Vid

### 5/5 — Not just for athletes

*2026-07-18*

I absolutely adore this app as someone who is building fitness as I recover from chronic illness. I finally have the answer to “am I doing enough?” and “am I pushing too hard?” The best part of this app is looking back on months of history I already had with my Apple Watch, and seeing it through a recovery lens.

### 5/5 — Nice app and modern interface

*2026-07-09*

Waiting for it to mature now

### 5/5 — Great app 😍

*2026-07-07*

Great application. Love the UI and guidance features. 😍

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with The Outsiders! The effort (RPE) does get synchronised from Health if you have that turned on in The Outsiders. In The Outsiders on your phone, tap your profile icon -> Settings -> turn on "Sync RPE with Health". That should do the trick! If you have any other questions, please let me know at support@gentlerapps.com. Thanks, Vid

### 5/5 — Rlly good

*2026-06-10, version 1.7.3*

Gives great insights on training load sleep etc even on the free plan much simpler to use then the health app

### 5/5 — Phenomenon

*2026-06-05, version 1.7.3*

Absolutely I love this app. Would it be possible to bring back the steps tile on the Home Screen. The only thing from keeping me from choosing it over Gentler Streak.

### 5/5 — useful

*2026-06-05*

now i understand why sometimes all workouts feel bad, its because i am overtraining and raising load too fast.

### 5/5 — Grrrreeeaaatttt!

*2026-06-04, version 1.7.2*

It’s a more advanced version of Gentler Streak, my favorite fitness tracking app for the past few years. I like how it lets you dive deeper into statistics

### 5/5 — The missing app

*2026-06-02*

This app is exactly what I’ve been missing. Apples Close your rings is fine for everyday activity. But as a runner and cyclist this is the missing link. No social disturbances. No bloated data overview. Just the data you need presented in a very beautiful and easy to work with format. Finally I’m using my data to push my self instead of just meaningless statistics.

Well done!!

### 5/5 — Congrats on the ADA

*2026-06-02*

deserved

**Developer response:** Thank you ☺️🙏 Kind regards, Vid
