### 4/5 — Fun and Frustrating

*2022-11-19, version 1.0.7*

A beautiful environment that invites exploration. Tedious at times in that you are doing the same thing over and over, in slightly different situations. Some of the puzzles are simple, others a challenge, and some I never did figure out. There are a series of BOSS matches, each absurdly frustrating. What you are expected to do is not at all obvious. Once you do figure it out, your best efforts are still not good enough. You will repeatedly be wiped off the playing field. Recovery time, to get back into the match, is WAY WAY WAY too long. I thouroughly enjoyed playing the game, and recommend it, all except the fight matches. Humerously, the final BIG BOSS match is the easiest to figure out and endure! Sort of backwards.

### 4/5 — Great but crashes

*2021-12-16, version 1.0.5*

I love this game. It’s very fun to play and I enjoy the storyline. My only complaint is that EVERY time you play a boss, the game suddenly crashes and you have to start the chase from the beginning. You have to pause the game, turn your screen off, and then let the phone completely cool down before playing again and you have to repeat this every 30 seconds or so. I feel like I’ve spent a lot more time waiting to be able to beat the bosses than I have anything else in the game. I’m on who I think is the last spirit, but I hope this issue gets fixed ASAP.

### 4/5 — This game is honestly one of my favorites ever, but it is damaging iPhones!

*2021-11-02, version 1.0.5*

Everyone involved in the development of this work of art, I salute you as it truly is an incredible experience. But I’m somewhat concerned with the ethics of porting this to iOS given that it causes overheating issues on my brand new iPhone 13 Pro, which should be about as state of the art as you can get in terms of mobile game hardware. And excessive heat is one of the main killlers to battery longevity. I understand it is a resource intensive game but I have to stop playing it as I don’t want to damage my phone :( I have even tried clearing out all background applications and turning on airplane mode, while helped a little but it was minor. I’m not sure what can be done to amend this, but i would gladly accept a graphics hit or shorter visual distances if it meant running at safer temperatures. Just my thoughts. Maybe even just a warning included to let players know it’s a possibility that it may cause damage or to avoid playing for too long.

All that being said, I am inspired to purchase this game on something with more processing power like on my computer or on a console so that I can still enjoy the game!

### 5/5 — Never judge a game by first gameplay

*2021-09-11, version 1.0.5*

When I first got the game I was completely lost and I got stuck in like one minute, but then i restarted the game and I LOVE IT. Okay so yea the game is quite tricky cause your given no instructions but as you go on in the game you realize that’s the best part having to try again and again just to get it right is so satisfying and as you go on you soon realize that the dead people and the temples are actually telling the story but it’s all about how u interpret them, that’s how you move forward. My favorite part is when I had to beat the “final boss” (if only) just for it to be more adventures right after that is making me giddy. I wish I could play this on a controller tho, it would make it 10x better.

### 5/5 — Best game in Apple Arcade

*2021-09-06, version 1.0.5*

This game was really fun. It is challenging. I played on iPad and never had graphical issues. The controls were tough to get a hold of at first, but eventually it because easier. It was fun, beautiful, and good gameplay.

Apple Arcade - please invest in getting more games like this one. Stop investing in simple games that I could play without Apple Arcade - please invest in richer games that actually make it worthwhile to pay the subscription, like this game. Thanks team for building this game dev team, and excited for what’s next.

### 4/5 — Amazing (few bugs to patch up here and there )

*2021-08-25, version 1.0.5*

When this game was first announced back in 2020 PlayStation 5 Event , I didn’t expect to come on the Apple Arcade as well. Want to clear this out but there are times when the game either freezes up or chunks aren’t loading. And the performance was somewhat :/ wish there was a graphics option as that would’ve been nice to adjust to your device so it doesn’t hamper your devices usage

Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the game itself: WOW, the world and the lore, how huge and freeform the land is when you traverse from one point to the other , its flawlessly fast and the gameplay is simple to work with. Sure it would’ve been nice for something else but the bow itself is good enough.

If you have played any other Annapunra Interactive games (Journey and Abzu) you’ll enjoy this. Hope this game comes to the App Store to support the indie dev :)

### 5/5 — Absolute masterpiece

*2021-07-26, version 1.0.5*

CLARIFICATION: I played this game on my PS4, if you can, you should play it there

This game is without a doubt one of the most serene and enrapturing experiences I have ever had, when I started playing it I played it non stop for the entire weekend until I’d completed everything there was to do in the game. The graphics are stylized and beautiful, the environments are stunning and the lore is a joy to dig into.

The thought that this game can fit into my pocket is a marvel. That said, it doesn’t run the best. If this is your only way to play this game or if this is just where you like to play your games then I think this is a perfectly acceptable way to experience it. The controls don’t require precise aiming but they do lend themselves to precise timing which is always appreciated in a mobile game. If you can play this on your TV I highly recommend you find the biggest, prettiest screen you can and feast your eyes on the pure beauty of this game.

No matter where you play it I’m sure you’ll find this game as amazing as I do.

### 4/5 — Game is awesome, but...

*2021-05-19, version 1.0.5*

I have to say this one of the better adventure games I played. A lot of effort and talent has been put into making it. Great graphics, phenomenal landscapes and a good storyline makes it very enticing, but playing it on an iPhone can be daunting. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the touch screen interface for the iPhone is clumsy at best. One can slog through a good portion of the game using it, but you get to a point where you can’t make any mis-touches because the responsiveness of the touch screen is so bad, plus your fingers are always covering portions of the battlefield which makes it that much harder, if not impossible because your moves have to be split-second accurate and you can’t do that with half the battlefield covered with your fingers. Perhaps it would be best played on a computer or console. I’ll have to see about using a wireless controller to get through that portion of the game.

### 4/5 — Beautiful and Terrifying

*2021-05-04, version 1.0.5*

This game is incredibly beautiful and terrifying. It sucked me into it's immersive world and I got to the end in a little less than a month. I only wish that I could've been able to explore the fully cleansed world after I destroyed the GodSlayer. It lets me continue to explore the world once it's done, but the GodSlayer is still living on the floating island, so that's unfortunate. I love this game for the vast atmospheric quality and it would be lovely if they'd let the world be fully open after the total cleansing. Future update maybe? Highly recommend anyways, I'm not a gamer but this is lovely.

### 5/5 — Controls

*2021-03-08, version 1.0.5*

Wow I gotta tell you I love this game. It’s possibly my favorite Apple Arcade game out there. My one complaint is the controls. I think it would make gameplay a lot smoother if we could customize the controls and where the buttons are because having the auto sprint button where it is has caused more than a few problems for me when I accidentally push it. If we could move where the buttons are or customize button size, that would make gameplay so much smoother and less irritating when I find out that I’ve pushed the auto sprint button and run off the edge of an obelisk or right into the jaws of Kumo. But overall, this game is lovely. The story is so cool and I really appreciate finding those little memories from the people who fought for or against the Godslayer before I came into the picture. I can feel this world pulsing with lore and mysteries to uncover and I hope this game continues to expand or maybe even get a sequel/prequel!

### 5/5 — Console quality gaming and an Amazing story

*2021-02-17, version 1.0.5*

This game completely took my breath away. It reminds me of Skyrim in that it is a big game but also extremely entertaining.
You have several huge mostly open worlds to play around in. You travel by shooting your arrows at the targets and running. It’s extremely fun to just do that. The story line is amazing. If you don’t like this bird at the end there’s something wrong with you. The game has an amazing way of portraying this nightmare like scenario where you get caught in a storm having to hide while catching your bird.
It’s kinda annoying but it’s just part of the game and makes it all the more realistic. I can not recommend this title enough.
I never recommend anything on here.
This one? This one is amazing!

### 4/5 — LOVE THIS GAME!! BUT I need some help

*2021-01-31, version 1.0.5*

My game is kinda stalled and I don’t know where to go for help except here. I’m in the second “world” Redwood Steepe, and I’ve come to some shrine there has big statues ,one on both sides of of the front wall. Each are built attached to the shrine and each has big red eyes. The fire storm was no where near my eagle and I, but when we got close to the shrine my eagle was suddenly burned and needing attention from me. When I pushed the symbol to pet him, the symbol stutters and his sits on my shoulder screaming but the game won’t let me pet him to fix him and I can’t find any other way to move on with him. HELP!! Please?!?! Thanks. ~Willow Wondrbean

### 5/5 — Amazing game

*2021-01-21, version 1.0.5*

The Pathless is one of the better games I have found in Apple Arcade so far. One of the top 3 best in my opinion. I beat the game in about 6 hours and it was very fun. Considering playing it over again just for the fun of it, but I think that it would be great if there were new aspects of the game. It felt like the story of how you take each boss down was the same, and it definitely would take time but if there was a part of the story that continues on after you defeat the God slayer, I think people would be even more satisfied with this game. Maybe something like another evil that arises after the newly restored world.

### 5/5 — Why Play

*2021-01-13, version 1.0.5*

What you have here is a gem a once in a life time story wrought with detail emotion, you get caught in this immersive Tale of finding your own way that you can’t help but proceed onward the Team that put this together went above and beyond to make something that goes beyond anything I have ever played and the best part about it is that it’s free. I recommend this game to All ages wear headphones explore the lore in the game. Explore every nook and cranny there is some much to experience here I implore you please don’t miss out there is more than you can imagine. - a Fan

### 4/5 — Amazing

*2020-12-31, version 1.0.5*

Let me start by saying I wouldn’t give them five stars if the game didn’t lag so much. However the lagging doesn’t cause a problem for gameplay it is seamless and smooth. I overall really love this game and I would love to see it on more platforms or make it into like an actual video game for consoles! The storyline so far is really good clear and seamless I love how there’s not really any instruction in the beginning on how to play you kind of have to figure it out I think that adds more to it. The graphics are also really good especially for a mobile game. I’m only halfway through the storyline but I absolutely love it and I would love to see more added to it. I hope it doesn’t end.!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nimue

*2021-01-03, version 1.0.5*

This is a nice looking game. There is some glitchy parts. The stages you have to go through with the bosses is a little over the top. I am not new to playing video games and there are for sure bosses That I have faced that where hard but not to the extent of Nimue. The part where you are in a circular room and have to face a boss with seven heads is ridiculous. You have no room to run at all. The markers to hit to let you run faster has no advantage at all. It just lets you run ahead of it. Once you stop you still have no advantage. Hitting one of the heads when you have the chance still gets you knocked out.

I went back and started a new game to see if I missed anything and the funny thing is it seemed boring the second time around so I just stopped playing. If devs want to make the bosses be harder than they should ok I guess. Like I said I have playing games a long time. This one is just ridiculous. And the only response you get from the devs is silence unless you give a good review. I see some of the same reviews about this on here. It’s just no fun as you play through this game. 4 stages to get through bosses is just insane takes the fun out of it.

### 1/5 — To the Developer of The Pathless at Giant Squid/Annapurna Interactive

*2020-11-17, version 1.0.3*

Hello...I would like to request your immediate attention to this possible issue with accessibility in The Pathless game. I have to inform you that I am a deaf player. I do enjoy playing games with English subtitles for the deaf.

However, I recently installed The Pathless on my Apple iPad Air (3 Gen.) . When I started to play, I went to the options first to enable the English subtitles for the deaf in this game. However, I was unable to locate the subtitles option. So, I decided to start the game to see if the subtitles appeared or not.

But, I have to inform you and your developer team at Giant Squid/Annapurna Interactive that I am very disappointed to find out that there are no subtitles for the deaf in this game. I cannot enjoy playing this game if I am unable to understand what the characters in this game are saying through this entire game. So, I have to tell you & your developer team that it is so frustrating for me unable to understand the entire storyline in this game.

Therefore, I have to inform you and your company that I do exercise my rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and ADA Amendments Act of 2008. I would like to request that the subtitles for the deaf to be enabled in this game. So, will you and your developer team please comply with my request?

I do just want to enjoy playing this game while reading the English subtitles for the deaf.

Thanks for your time.

### 1/5 — The Pointless

*2020-11-14, version 1.0.3*

This game came with so much hype, so I thought I’d give it a go. Apple Arcade consists of two types of games, about 5% decent games, and about 95% indie-trash. This is definitely the latter. It’s much like they took the outstanding SamuraiJack, removed the excellent visuals, plot, dialogue, and pretty much anything to do, and re-released it. This game consists of wandering aimlessly through a forest with no landmarks, that looks identical in all directions, looking to do something that isn’t defined. You run and run for 20 minutes in any direction only to finally find something, but you are missing some item (good luck figuring out what it is since they only use symbols). Then you wander around for another 20 minutes in another direction only to find something you cannot jump high enough to reach, then if you have any sense, you delete this game and move on to a game that was finished before release.

### 2/5 — The Funless

*2023-02-10, version 1.0.7*

You start the game and are doing great! You beat the first boss and get some extra lightstones put them in the stone anticipate the reward but get nothing. You look it up and figure out that you need to get a ton more of them. You decide to go to the other areas and then come back to it later. Start getting discouraged by the second boss. After 6 hours and 13 walkthroughs you finally win. The you reach nimue. You spend weeks on it then decide to delete the app and reinstall it again after a year of not thinking about it. When you reinstall it you finally beat it. When you get to the bear you beat it pretty fast and you get sense of great accomplishment. You finally reach the godslayer. You keep trying for weeks to get past the eagle, get the bow and think it’s over. Then you realize you still have to beat the godslayer. After months of trying you beat him only to see a cutscene and the credits. You regain control of your character right in front of the place where you go to fight the godslayer and then you renter the place where you fought him out of your curiosity then find the exact same thing as the last time. You’re completely drained of your happiness and pride. In your sadness you return to the comfort of your creative mode world in Minecraft where the pathless can never hurt you again.

### 2/5 — Good ideas, low quality experience

*2020-11-23, version 1.0.3*

I hadn’t checked the game trailers in the app store before playing the game, so when I opened it and was getting 10fps with comical 2007 Nintendo DS graphics, I thought my phone was malfunctioning. Nope, it’s just how the game plays. This looks like MYST from the early 2000s. If my phone can run COD mobile with no problem, I don’t think that a single player open world game would have one either. I mean, this is 240p resolution in 2020. That’s almost two decades after 240p was impressive for mobile games.
The developers are claiming that they needed to make the resolution this way to allow it to run on all devices currently supported by iOS, but really this makes no sense. Just add a graphics slider so users can choose their resolution. For an offline game, the frame rate and picture quality is unacceptable. I’m headed back to Sky: Children of Light.

### 3/5 — Beautifully painful

*2021-12-15, version 1.0.5*

I love your game. Seriously, I downloaded this game and as many have said before, games tend to bore me after a week or two of playing. This game on the other hand captures my ADHD mind. HOWEVER, I just got a brand new iPhone 13 and I know it’s not the 13 pro BUT, it should not be crashing how it does. In the middle of countless boss battles(including the one that just prompted me to write this) the game just completely closes and I have to restart the battle. Pretty painful considering that I was over half way done!! But, I really do enjoy your game, and I would really appreciate some future updates that fix these issues.

### 3/5 — Crashes

*2021-09-29, version 1.0.5*

Game constantly crashes towards the final boss it seems like the platforms in which is intended to play on can’t keep up with all the moving parts that it automatically crashes no matter where I play iPhone,iPad Pro and Apple TV I can’t even finish the game because where it ends up crashing there’s no manual save option so I have to rely on it automatically saving when it doesn’t no matter what stage I am in during the fight when it crashes I have to start the Bossfight from the beginning which is very annoying Plus the controller doesn’t seem to register which button I press which is a constant lag please fix

### 3/5 — Outstanding game, too much lag on iPhone X

*2020-12-06, version 1.0.4*

This is definitely an amazing title, unfortunately, there are too many cases of very low frame rate on my iPhone X for this game to continue to be enjoyable.

Since the game was made with Unreal Engine, I’m confused as to why there are no graphics scalability options in the app. If the app is automatically trying to set graphics settings based on my device, this feature doesn’t seem to be working.

Compared to a game like The Witness, which features a large area with many draw calls, they still manage to get perfect frame rate throughout the experience. Though, I think the world of The Pathless is much much larger. Still, it seems like there could be a lot more culling and optimization work in many many areas of the environments, especially ones where you are able to look at large vistas. Looking towards less busy scenes brings the FPS back up.

Perhaps the experience is buttery smooth on newer phones, but this game was a big reason for me continuing to try out Apple Arcade.

Speaking of the game itself, it is wonderfully designed and has a great big beautiful world to explore. I just wish there were simple graphics options, even as simple as the Sky game options would be nice-actually necessary to make this an overall enjoyable experience for me. The frame drops really kill the immersion and experience when it happens, and it happens far to often by modern standards.

**Developer response:** Hi Thanks for the review! The Pathless uses custom performance profiles tuned for each iDevice to get the best experience possible. We have additional performance tweaks coming in patches that will refine the experience further. Thanks for playing!

### 3/5 — Devs...good game, but...

*2020-11-22, version 1.0.3*

Devs, you really made a great game. Believe me when I tell you, I get bored easily. I’m the type of gamer to install a title, play it for maybe a week, and then I uninstall. I actually played this game through. Good storyline, kept me entertained, I loved running through the landscape shooting talismans. It’s almost like I was trying to make the character an aerial acrobatic with new moves and tricks as I was moving, jumping, and flying threw the air. It’s actually very pleasant to try and make her do cool stunts in the air. My few complaints : on many occasions I would accidentally hit auto walk or run. Very frustrating when you’re trying to get precise movements on a phone or tablet. Second, the frame rate drops are horrible. Getting yourself into intense visuals while playing and then having the frame rates drop 30% brings down the visual immersion of the game. Third : I’m running an iPhone 12 and I truly thought this would run flawless on the A14, but I felt like my phone could cook an egg on the glass surface on the back of the phone. No Bueno my friends. But long story short, in the end I hope you ladies and gentlemen make another amazing action adventure title. I would really look forward to it.

### 4/5 — It’s great but needs an intro to where the characters are from

*2023-02-20, version 1.0.7*

It a good game and I love the graphics but the intro is just the main character is sailing to this area. Where is the person from and how old is he/she/they, and why did he decide to defeated the Godslayer you know? How did the Godslayer come to be. Also it feels really lonely because all of the people are dead. It also needs a longer ending to the game like for example you can make it so the main character can be respected by the people if they weren’t all dead. But other than that it’s a really good game🦅👌👍👍😃😃😊

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Chefs kiss and a half 🤌🏻

*2023-06-21*

Other than some lag on the 4th valley (most likely due to sheer size, it is huge!) the game was so good it was almost impossible to put down. Each step along the way the puzzles get a step harder, keeping it fresh and new. I spent 10 hours on my first play though making sure to get everything. This game plays so well compared to other mobile games, the movement is clean and swift, and makes you feel as if you are actually flying. Each boss has its own unique personality and fighting style, that you begin to understand, each difficult in its own way. The game rewards exploring and engaging in the environment, while giving breathtaking landscapes to get lost in. Without spoiling too much, the ending is well worth the time and effort. It feels similar to a dark souls fight with multiple attack patterns thrown at you all at once in order for you to figure out. All and all this is one of the best mobile games I have ever touched to this day, shout-out to everyone involved in making this true masterpiece!! I also can see speed run potential as there are a lot of skips possible if you’re into that sorta thing. This is a game to show off 11/10!

### 5/5 — Amazing Game!

*2022-08-20, version 1.0.7*

This game made me fall in love with all that Apple Arcade has to offer! Ain’t favorite game the iPhone has to date in my opinion! Every aspect of this game is what an arcade style adventure game is about. Subtle yet complex landscapes and scenarios. Can play at a very slow pace or fast pace if you’d like. Multiple areas to complete the puzzling situations you can find yourself in without the feeling of being stuck with plenty of game left to play. Absolutely amazing game. Developers deserve high praise! The lofi music and sounds added really helped when I needed to escape from any worldly stresses and relax especially with my high anxiety and depression. A very comfortable game to come to to feel calm.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2022-07-25, version 1.0.7*

This is one of my favorite games ever. The graphics are top notch, it’s great fun, and the story is unique and compelling. If you enjoy puzzles and exploring, you’ll love this game. Hint: if you get stuck, move on and come back later. 😉 It’s a bit glitchy at times, and I became quite frustrated when the game kept crashing during a particularly challenging boss battle, but I’m still giving it 5 stars. This game has an emotional component with the eagle companion that really enhances the overall tone of the game, as evil has seemingly conquered the world. You get to be the warrior who cleanses the land of that evil. The stuff you can do with your eagle is pretty cool, too! Each level up increases the challenges of puzzles, and increases your bond with your eagle companion. I would highly recommend this game! It is truly fantastic! The only thing I’d change is a longer story / more levels! Hats off to the creators & developers! 🌟🙌

### 5/5 — Attention developers! Please read!

*2022-07-06, version 1.0.7*

Ok, to start things off, I AM THIS GAMES BIGGEST FAN.
Currently I am on the mountain tundra level and I have one complaint about it, when u first see the mountain tundra, it is EXTREMELY DEPRESSING. That place is GIANT.
BIG QUESTION: (on my tv) so after I defeated the snake level, I was heading towards the shoot that brings me to mountain tundra and I noticed a wolf was following me. ? Much! The animals always run away, this wolf followed me when ever I stopped he stopped and just looked at me. I think it’s fur was black but I can’t quit remember. Whaaaat was up with that?? Then later when I downloaded the Pathless onto my phone and I got to that point, no wolf. Am I missing something?????????
So a few requests…
The game would be soooo much better if there was an option to get hints on what to do, I got sooooo confused at the point where u learn how to fly. I could not figure it out for ages.
One more thing,

PLEASE MORE ANIMALS!!!
And can the animals PLEASE NOT RUN AWAY WHEN U GET CLOSE!!!!!

P.s. I don’t think the monsters are hard enough to defeat! More please!!!

P.p.s. Why is the hunter’s clothes red if red is the bad guy color??? MAKE THEM BLUEEEE!

THATS ALL! Thanks for ur time! :P

### 5/5 — MUST PLAY SUPER ADDICTING!!

*2022-01-06, version 1.0.5*

When I started this game it was a little boring but it very very quickly got fun. I beat the whole game in a month and got the secret scene too. The game is really fun to play and gets really fun flying and unlocking new things. The graphics is really nice and the game is just too much addicting!

I’m playing this on an iPhone 11 Pro and this game is meant for PS4/5 so of course your phone is going to heat up and you might need to pause it and let your phone cool down for a minute to not make the app crash(this happens rarely).

### 5/5 — Nimue was hard but the game is beautiful

*2021-12-28, version 1.0.5*

I love this game, it’s beautiful and Nimue was very hard you just had to run around and not get caught. It was easier on a iPad than on my PS4. This game is so unique and I’m still playing through it, I’m on the last son the one that I think is a bear.

On my PS4 it kept overheating and would boot me out of my game every once and while but it will ALWAYS save your progress to the closest point it can. Which is honestly 🥰. And developers, don’t let the 1 star or 2 star reviews get to you, you made a beautiful game.

The game doesn’t have any in game pay for things, and this game is really just a giant puzzle with boss battles before you go onto the next boss battle. It’s beautiful and fun sadly I am getting close to finishing it. I love this game and I want a second personally. I would love to see the rest of this world that the devs have made.

The eagle is amazing and running around and shooting the talismans is so fun and then sprinting and you just keep on shooting them, I saw this game played by a YouTuber (I don’t remember the name, sorry) but I instantly fell in love with the graphics.

The parts where the eagle is in it is beautiful. And, SPOILERS!! When the godslayer took one of the wings I actually thought the bird FREAKING DIED and I was like 👁👄👁

Spoilers over

Please people, play this game if you like puzzles and boss battles. Also if you like eagles.

### 5/5 — Phenomenal

*2021-12-18, version 1.0.5*

I found the Pathless while wandering the App Store, and I sure am happy I did find it. This game is incredible, with exhilarating boss fights and clever puzzles. There is not a whole lot of mandatory dialogue, so at first it seems to lack story. But the world around you tells the story. Spirits who’s whispers can still be heard and mysterious tablets engraved with writing tell the story of the Godslayer (Main Boss), The Tall Ones (Corrupted Spirits), and what happened before the events of the game. Ruins scatter the landscape, hinting towards the fury of the corrupt Tall Ones. Overall, I love this game, from the tutorial to its bittersweet ending. It truly is an adventure you won’t regret…or forget.

### 5/5 — Amazing Game 10/10

*2021-11-16, version 1.0.5*

There’s this looming cloud in the distance that foreshadows that this game has an end. And I hate it. This game is out of this world. It’s crashed on me only once, and when I opened it back up it brought be back exactly where I left off. I’ve been playing on my backbone controller, and it feels and plays better than most of the console games! It pushed Apple’s hardware during some of the boss fights- but that’s to be expected with a game as pretty as this one. Perfect balance in my opinion of insane graphics, and animations that can still be ran on a phone (pro model or not). 10/10

### 5/5 — Beautiful game

*2021-11-03, version 1.0.5*

I’ve been obsessed with this game for a few weeks now and just finished it. Some of the puzzles and boss fights can get kind of challenging but overall this was a great game and I grew to really like the eagle companion. There are great graphics and good character development. I do, however, wish there was a longer introduction in the beginning to make the game’s premise more clear as it did get confusing who the tall ones were and who the pathfinders were when reading spirits’ “last words” bubbles. I also had some difficulty keeping track of the different names for the spirits (of the tall ones). I felt like more clarity on this at the start of the game would help the storyline feel more meaningful and add more conviction to the main character’s purpose in the game. It would also be helpful if it were clearer which puzzles to complete first, as they do seem to get gradually more difficult and lead you (spatially) to the next level/area of the game. All the other pieces to help the story along were there though. All in all, this was a well-made game and I’m interested to see what else this developer makes next.

### 5/5 — Giant Squid makes great games

*2021-09-25, version 1.0.5*

The Pathless is fantastic. Beautifully animated, fun to play, and a fully realized world with just the right balance of backstory and mystery. Probably the best game on Apple Arcade. The only drawback is it might be too much game for a phone—I have a 12 Pro, and it still gets laggy at times, which isn’t a big deal for most of the exploration and puzzles, but a couple of the boss fights took more tries than they should have because I couldn’t see or react in time. If I had it to do over, I’d buy the console version, but definitely a top tier game.
