It will not accept my password. A week ago something happened and I had to call the help line. I had to call two separate times to get problem resolved It would be nice to deal with somebody in this country that speaks English. About to cancel my subscription of 40 years. Don’t need the hassle ### 2/5 — Updates? *2020-07-10, version 3.1.85* App is fine as is. Whatever updates that have been applied recently (then apparently backed-off...?) are poorly applied and obviously not “user tested”. Can’t get in directly, font and page is reduced so you have to expand to be able to read; if you print a crossword puzzle, again, the font is way too small. I mostly use the app on iPad or phone, as I think most users do, so test on a tablet and phone, not a desktop or laptop computer. (Yes, the web version using my desktop computer does work better...; even the crossword print) Overall, on-line customer service is completely non-responsive. You have confused me when I don’t want confused at 0600 in the morning. It did load the Omaha edition which does nothing for me here in Harrisburg, PA. I. Did get a message 'No feed found'. ### 1/5 — Bug fix required *2016-08-07, version 2.5.54* The Harrisburg Patriot News app opens to the home page of the Omaha World Herald on Apple iPad. The Patriot News has difficulty delivering the physical paper on a regular basis and the app was always a backup. Now they can't even deliver the digital version. ### 1/5 — Bait and switch *2014-03-14, version 2.3.10* While the app's performance is sluggish for all the reasons noted by other reviewers, my complaint is with PN's "bait and switch". I still subscribe to the hard copy weekend edition. That entitled me to receive the electronic print editions for the Tuesday and Thursday editions... until sometime within the past few weeks. Now they want me to subscribe to keep receiving these two weekly editions. Sorry, but the value proposition isn't sufficient to warrant me forking over additional money. I believe I'll also not be renewing my subscription for the weekend edition after that subscription nears the end of its term. ### 1/5 — Lousy app, lousy price. *2013-06-10, version 2.3.10* I downloaded this app since the actual daily paper edition is being curtailed. But it leaves much to be desired. I did not buy the subscription but did view the sample edition. The electronic edition seems to be no more than a scanned edition of the actual paper. It is not sized to the ipad, so in order to view the whole page you have to drag your finger around the whole screen. This causes the page to constantly reload and it does so slowly. Often times this reloading caused the app to crash. Tapping on the next page should bring you to the top of that page. Most people who read down to the bottom of a page and tap the next page do not want to start that next page on the bottom of it. The thumbnail setting displays pages too small to be of any use. Instead of trying to force the newspaper onto a tablet they should design a layout that is built for one. I'm sure it would increase subscription rates. For a clean easy to navigate layout I think the NY Post nailed it. Until then I think I'll wait on this one. Update: At the beginning of the year this paper went from a daily publication to just 3 days (tu,th,su). But the subscription price remains the same for just 12 editions per month. Not worth $1.33 an issue. All other problems with the app are still the same too. Love reading the paper on line, although I am old school and love the feel and smell of the paper and print. We do receive the Thursday and Sunday print edition….love, love!!! 2. The cartoons are larger in size and there are fewer comics in total (the Sunday Edition). I miss the inclusion of three cartoons per strip ( Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Guess I will need to catch up on some of my favorites throughout the week. 3. The overall content of your paper slants towards the LEFT to a great extent. Would appreciate more of an impartial view of the world in your political articles. You are no different than any metropolitan newspaper or national news source (radio and television). Kindly toss a bone my way and include something nice about a republican endeavor at least once in awhile. 4. Your coverage of local, high school sports is outstanding, Informative and interesting. You cover large and small high schools and give every sport appropriate reporting. I taught English at McDevitt for 38 years and when the leaves Fall, everyone hates us, but you provide plenty of excellent, praise-worthy pigskin reports nonetheless. 5. My favorite sections are Nation & World and Life. As a more mature lady, I read the front page of the paper first and then the obits, just to make certain my family and friends and past students and their families are still with us. All my favorite interests in life: books, movies, series, gardening and travel are contained in the Life section. I have been reading your paper for approximately fifty years when Hurricane Agnes decimated our dear city. I even remember when the ink you used made almost our entire family itch with some kind of allergic reaction. We scratched and read all together now!
