This game has so much more potential if the developers Leaned more into the sandbox element of the game. I doubt that the developers will listen to me, as they have moved on to other games, but in the unlikely scenario a dev reads my review, here is how to make this game a masterpiece: 1. ADD A BIGGER MAP!!! If you want to role play in this game (like capture a steamship and make it the endurance etc) then you can play a lot, but because the map is so simple and repetitive I don’t see why it would be too much effort to broaden the map. Imagine sailing from Florida to London. Imagine how cool that would be. 2. TURN SHIP SPAWN RATES DOWN!!! This wouldn’t be that much of a problem if there was some sort of slider for this in the settings, but there isn’t, so I have to resort to this. While it is fun to fight other ships, seeing 3 ships spawn in every 5 minutes and instantly start fighting each other is really annoying and immersion-breaking. Making ships actually rare (or at least rarER) would make sailings around the ocean looking for ships way better instead of running into 200 ships between Cuba and Haiti. 3. Add fleets. Instead of just having 1-st rates randomly sailing around alone (which basically never happened IRL) add random merchant and military fleets that sail around and can be fought. 4. This isn’t as important, but being able to ONLY fire broadsides can make battles feel a little artificial. If cannons could be toggled to fire individually instead of operating like a hivemind that would make this game feel way more organic. 5. The AI can sometimes be really stupid. There have been times where I have been sailing in a first-rate and a bloody ketch has straight up charged me. Again, pretty immersion breaking. Сделайте управление штурвалом менее чувствительным, чтобы корабль медленнее поворачивал. Сделайте волны при штиле чуть больше и чтоб во время шторма корабль могло залить водой и утопить. Или же давать урон если корабль не прокачен. Ну и в открытом мире меньше кораблей сделать, а то стоим чуть ли не в пробках, постоянные бои там. Надеюсь, разработчик прислушается ко мне.
