It actually even went by a different brand name but the same writer. I love this meditation. I love the stories. I love how Liz’s faith has evolved and how she shares that evolution inviting us to go deeper into who we are in God. If you’re looking for a living breathing growing devotional that is transformative, this one is it. ### 5/5 — Spirituality *2024-04-23, version 1.2.5* Not really a review rather my idea of spirituality you asked your followers for... I see spirituality as a way of being in this wonderful wacky wild & challenging world. The way the mist rolls over your Maunga and brings tears to your eyes, the foam of the Moana curling rolling unfolding & falling like lace up the beach. Being in touch with creation, being aware seeing the nuances, I find to be deeply spiritual & connecting for me. Easter Sunday walking on Medland beach, I saw the deep shadow lit, under the sea, as I walked towards the headland. It was a refracted light as the sun was peeping above the headland, catching on a patch of sea. It was special like seeing under the water (seeing beneath what’s around me)… I had just felt this lovely sense on my chest of Gods presence, like a warm hand may feel, walking towards the headland & the comfort of that. (Not felt for a long time). So that was my deeply spiritual moment & significant for Easter. A sense of something greater, seeing something special, that touches you…that to me is spirituality, on a personal level… I photographed it & shared on Instagram. Since then I have read them daily for the last 4 months. Her daily posts help me sit and slow down and really embrace this process. About a month ago there was a glitch in the app and it wouldn’t open for a few days. I emailed the Practice Co team. I had a response with in a day and I was emailed the posts I had missed while the app was down. when the app was fixed the next day I still received emails from Ronalyn checking to make sure everything was working now. The truth is God did it make anything broken? He created all of us unique and through difficult seasons, at different times for different reasons, and it is ends, and the lesson to be learned our used the way God intended to help one another else from going through that or just to tell them show them that it’s OK to feel that way. So I know and I’m sure many believe God uses those tough times when we feel broken and rock-bottom and useless, and lost to teach us and changes some mold us, and grow us into who he intended us to be all along. Immediately subscribed and I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes. Already thankful! ### 5/5 — Life changing for me *2023-04-15* I was searching the App Store for a daily devotional and wanted something a little less bible thumping and a little more real life. This fit the bill perfectly. Sure she doesn’t use bible verses every day but she guides you how to live your life in the real word as God would want you too. She covers topics like forgiveness, trauma, and so many more things we really need to hear. She also has great guest writers. Something I really appreciate is when she is discussing the Bible she looks at passages as is and the message there. She does not bring in other verses to create a message she wants like happens at church. This has been eye opening. I have been reading this devotional for about a year and a half and can’t recommend it enough. I feel closer to God and more appreciative of his creation because of it. Even as someone new to faith and a bit unsure still I’m really comforted and lifted up by these messages. They are simple and easy to understand with a profound lesson within each one. I love the wallpapers to use too! I had a bit of trouble with my subscription but support reached out immediately and helped me out (just waited 24 hr for it to be activated 😂) but they were on top of it none the less! Really appreciate an app that makes me feel good in any time of need. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — NOT A CHRISTIAN APP, BE CAREFUL!! *2023-02-22, version 1.2.4* The creator of this has not only gone off saying she’s not identifying as a Christian anymore but is coming after Christians on her social media. She is acting in direct opposition of God and openly giving the middle finger to salvation. The way this app presents in the store in incredibly misleading (borderline fraudulent) in its nature. This is not an app to turn to for your walk with Christ. ### 1/5 — Bait and switch *2023-02-17, version 1.2.4* Purchased a Christian app written by Liz Milani and instead got an anti-Christian rhetoric written by a progressive named Joy. Supremely disappointed. ### 2/5 — Not very Christ centered *2020-01-06* I was excited to download a daily devo app and even paid for the year subscription but have been disappointed with the readings. They are very inspiring and feel good but I would not categorize as Christian devotionals. Some barely mention scripture and there’s an underlying message of self fulfillment vs reliance on Christ. I am also disappointed that even paying $13 a year for access to daily devos, I cannot access all the archives without paying additional. ### 3/5 — Great Devotional App— butttttt *2024-01-16, version 1.2.4* I love this app! It’s got great devotional with wonderful anecdotes, but for whatever reason, it stops working sometimes for weeks at a time. I’ll go from being able to read the daily devotional, to getting stuck on a loading page without a way to refresh/update/nothing. I’ve tried reaching out to Apple support and their IG about this but no response… that’s the only downside. You pay and SOMETIMES you won’t have access lol ### 4/5 — Great devotionals overall!! *2020-12-14* I love how short & sweet the devotionals are, they are straightforward without being too “praise Jesus-y” or like a very traditional old school sermon. They’re perfect for the life-long Christian wanting a daily dose of devotionals and also great for new found Christians wanting to dive in because the text isn’t overwhelmingly complex and the messages are easy to take away from. I love the daily reminders and the ability to adjust what time to remind you to read the daily devotional as well as the app-generated reminders with uplifting messages. The wallpapers are absolutely beautiful and I love sharing them to my social media everyday as inspiration to others. The reason for 4/5 stars is I think there is always room for improvement. The things I think are lacking or could be added to improve include the option to highlight specific lines and save/favorite just those lines vs favoriting the entire devotional. I personally feel I would be able to better utilize the favorites section in doing this. I also wish there were an option to check each daily devotional and the other devotionals in the library as “read/complete” so if I am reading one of the series I’m able to know what I have/have not read in the past. Another thing I think would really add to the app is adding an option to journal/note take within each devotional. Overall a really great devotional app and fully worth the price. I had strayed from my faith for a long time. Though I still felt very spiritual, I just could not go back to the conventional way of practicing. At the beginning of this year, I knew I wanted to work on my relationship with God again and this app has been so very raw and relatable for me. I couldn’t have asked for anymore more than just what this is. Thank you for this. The only complaint that I do have is that I have read a few pieces where the author writes about “us” and refers to “us being white”. I am Asian American and I do refer a lot of my friends who are of other ethnicities to this app. I just want her to know that her readers may be diverse and sometimes when I read those things it’s a bit off putting. It’s a life giving oasis in the mindless wasteland that Instagram can often be sometimes. My friend Jo Rosoman introduced me to the Practice Co (then Pocketfuel) Instagram page a few years back and I’m so glad she did! In the midst of an unwelcome deconstruction, and ongoing reconstruction of my faith this account has been a little beacon of light encouraging me to stay the path. It’s raw and real and offers encouragement for life without cliches and delves into deeper meanings of the Hebrew Scriptures. I’m so grateful for Lizzy and Jess and their creation especially as I’m a Christian who has never been able to faithfully commit to daily devotionals! I could best describe it as freeing and liberating, and it’s been so helpful in reimagining my spiritual self and undoing toxic and harmful messages internalized from a lifetime of conservative fundamental teaching. The team is also massively supportive and on two different occasions when I’ve had a question or there was some sort of glitch, they responded personally with 24 hours, which I thought was actually wild!
