It kind of flickers and then does nothing. I checked that I was logged in and I checked to see if there was an update for the app that I had missed or something but no. My subscription seems current and the last update was four weeks ago. I hope somebody can fix this because it’s really really annoying. ### 2/5 — No new stories for 4 days and counting *2026-08-01, version 10.0.59* The tiles haven’t updated since Wednesday. The only way to get current news is to go to the e edition but a phone screen is to small to see it well. The most annoying thing however, is the fact that it is crammed with animated advertising, even for those that pay plenty of money for a subscription. Too much time wasted trying to get this poorly designed software to work. New is not necessarily better. New app is much harder to navigate and get recent articles. Always asks me to log in again. Crashes. Continually asking me to update from old version when I’m already using new version. Will probably cancel subscription for the rest of the year and try again next year. Too many other sources available. Also Press Democrat has failed to cover news in an unbiased manner. I prefer to make my own decisions rather than being fed politically biased reporting. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2023-07-02, version 4.0.1* The previous app worked perfectly. What was anyone thinking to replace it with this app that locks on a previous edition and does not download the new edition. It requires that you must repeatedly sign in with password. Then it says you have signed in multiple times and locks you out. You call for technical support and are told your account is now unlocked. You are told to wait 15 minutes and try to sign in again. Nope! You get the message that you are still blocked from using the app. I have subscribed to the PD for 32 years but am considering unsubscribing. I don’t like to wake up in the morning and get a cuppa coffee and then struggle with a faulty app. ### 1/5 — Bad update *2023-06-26, version 4.0.1* The latest update to this app is terrible compared to previous version. Try to read it as a print edition is cumbersome and forcing a banner ad and needing to re-zoom every time I want to turn the page is horrible. I tried keeping the previous version but they have disabled it. I’m on the verge of canceling all together. Please FIX IT!!! ### 3/5 — New app needs one improvement specifically *2023-06-26, version 4.0.1* Unlike many others here, I don’t have a problem with the new app EXCEPT for one thing. In the E edition when I go to the comics, and enlarge any particular comic on my iPad, it never gets clear. It remains blurry and not easily read. The old edition app would become super clear no matter how much I enlarged it. It’s terrible. For the last couple of weeks, it will not allow me to open an article. I’m signed in so that’s not the problem. ### 1/5 — June update eliminated pdf version for me *2026-06-11, version 10.0.58* And when I try to sign in on the pop-up to get it back, it doesn't recognize my password, and when I ask to reset pw, it fails to send link to my email address (yes I checked the spam folder.) This version doesn’t. After repeated “something went wrong” messages I was finally able to subscribe. I’m sure there’s some way around this but I have yet to find it. At present I can access a tiny thumbnail page from today’s edition. If i click on the page, it opens a random article from that page. I have no idea how to increase the page size or how to choose what article will open. I believe I’m computer literate. I’ve been online for about 30 years. I’m reasonably competent at navigating websites if the website is reasonably accessible. It seems like the PD is deliberately trying to chase readers away. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Seem to Work Anymore *2024-05-02, version 4.0.6* I get an error message every time I try to open it, both on my phone and iPad. Tried deleting and reinstalling, but it didn’t help. I liked it when it worked. ### 1/5 — Paid for ads? Seriously? *2024-01-29, version 4.0.5* What is new but not mentioned with the latest version is an ad banner across the bottom. I pay for online access to the PD. I do this because I no longer live in the delivery area but I want my lifetime local newspaper. My expectation is that I should be getting an electronic copy of the paper- ads and all. You could charge me more for this, but you have no business charging me for the dubious “privilege” of being accosted with an extra splash banner ad every time I scroll to a new page or adjust the size of the one I am reading. ### 1/5 — Phone app not a good fit for 24" monitor *2023-12-13, version 4.0.5* I have a 24" monitor the this app can't be resized larger than an iPad Mini. It's like examining an elephant with a magnifying glass. The articles are extremely well written, very informative and most importantly, the whole staff is relevant. While travel has its perks, not as much anymore, having the PD literally at my fingertips keeps me grounded and makes me feel closer to home. Most ppl don’t travel as much as I do, so this “option “ given by PD is one that I would insist upon for all who will begin too or already have begun traveling abroad. Thank you very much for all your hard work, it pays off for me!!! Don’t change a thing, But if you have new ideas or concepts that you are entertaining, you must first present to me foe approval before moving forward with the additions and/or changes that would be implemented by the PD!!!
