### 4/5 — It’s the Little Things

*2022-12-30, version 3.6.13*

Generally a good app. BUT when reading an article (iPad) bullets become “h”, hyphenation not handled correctly. Subtitles and text boxes not handled correctly. Resuming after a break, need to wait while the same edition re-loads, losing my place. Full page magnified, scroll slightly too far left, pops way back to the right. Similar on the web.

### 4/5 — Review

*2022-08-20, version 3.6.13*

I’m liking the app version overall! Never thought I would, but it’s become really convenient.

### 4/5 — The app works well

*2022-05-14, version 3.6.05*

This app is pretty well designed and works smoothly. The articles could be improved by doing a better job of proofreading and not running the same articles more than once (such as running several articles in both the Saturday and Sunday issues). I still prefer the paper editions, but know they are wasteful.

### 3/5 — Why obscure the pages

*2021-11-22, version 3.3.07*

May 2020. I really like reading the e-edition. However, it would be better if it did not have to restart? itself when I go away to read a text message and then come back to the paper. It only takes a few seconds but still. We get the NY Times and the RegisterGuard. I prefer the RG e-edition because it is laid out like a paper newspaper. There is information conveyed by where stories are located. The silly thing is that when we got the “paper paper” I usually only read the front page of each section. Now I look at each page. I wish the e-edition included the advertising sections. It seems crazy that they do not have the Jerry’s and BiMart ads.
November 2021
Every day the first page of the Sports section has a gray filter over it. One clicks X to make the filter go away, but why does it do this? In the USA Today version it grays over the first page of the Money section. Same cure, but why?
BTW, Register Guard readers get to read USA Today M-F. Do you let USA Today readers read your Saturday and Sunday editions of your seven day a week publications?
We still are not allowed to read the local advertising supplements.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2021-10-18, version 3.3.07*

I’m 73 years old, never thought I’d read books or the newspaper on my computer or iPad. But here I am reading the R-G and my favorite novels on digital tools. I had a stroke and was tired of trying to turn pages.

### 4/5 — Great app; occasional glitches

*2021-10-11, version 3.3.07*

Love The Register-Guard newspaper online. The app would have received a five star rating if there was some way to search for an article or obituary.

### 5/5 — Print is best. This is better.

*2021-09-03, version 3.3.07*

I wanted to avoid managing printed newspapers piling up at my house and this e-edition is everything I was looking for. Seeing stories organize exactly like a print newspaper while allowing each article to be read in a cascading format like apple news makes this the best of both worlds.

### 5/5 — Funtional App makes browsing the paper easy peasy

*2021-07-31, version 3.3.07*

Been using the app on an ipad pro and apple phone, very functional on both with no issues at all

### 3/5 — App is funky

*2021-06-27, version 3.3.07*

I use on an iPad and get kicked out frequently. I also have problems with pages not loading. Right now, I'm waiting for a callback from RG because this app now says my account doesn't exist.

### 4/5 — Improved

*2021-06-05, version 3.3.07*

The latest version of the Register-Guard works well enough. Earlier editions presented some problems- most have been resolved. Occasionally there is one page “scrunched” into half the size of pages, which doesn’t enlarge to font I enlarge to read.

I continue to appreciate e-edition.

### 5/5 — RG e-edition ——. Easy edition it should be called.

*2021-05-31, version 3.3.07*

The Register Guard app for reading online news is easy to read. I like how the articles, if continued onto another page are linked to the beginning so there is no scrolling to find the rest of the article. I prefer the split page so that I can easily reference what page I’m on as I read the article.

### 5/5 — The Best!

*2021-05-09, version 3.2.48*

This newspaper app is the best I’ve ever used! It’s totally easy and intuitive to use and to look at past issues if needed is super easy.

### 5/5 — Recovery edition better than ever

*2021-02-09, version 3.2.48*

We subscribed to electronic edition of RG for three years. The app was so bad we considered canceling our subscription. And then, 2021 they rolled out two new apps that are flawless. Enjoy....

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Arrgghhh!

*2022-12-27, version 3.6.13*

Reading the paper used to be a calm time in the morning. Not anymore. Using this app has changed it to an hour of frustration and never wanting to open it again. I’ve attempted to get help with how the page loads to no avail. Today I cannot access my account but instead get a message that this page cannot be found. This company owns many many newspapers all over the country. I would expect it to have a stellar app. It does not.

### 1/5 — Review for the Register Guard

*2022-11-09, version 3.6.13*

I have not been able to get signed in to view the The Register Guard for several months. After calling multiple times and was assured they would correct the problem I still cannot view the paper. We have been customers for over 40 years and then switched to online. It was working for a while and now all they do is take our money automatically each month.
                    VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE SERVICE.

### 1/5 — CHEAP INTRODUCTORY RATE IS A SCAM

*2022-06-17, version 3.6.13*

I signed up for the $9.99 for six months introductory offer. The RG billed me $39. At this time I’ve called three times and contacted customer service via email at least three times. I’ve been told four times that I’ll get a refund, but accounting keeps messing it up. It’s been weeks. The call center is outsourced. I don’t know if it’s a scam or a very messed up company. I would advise caution before signing up with the RG. It’s sad s a former Eugenian.

### 1/5 — Roger Diddock

*2021-12-02, version 3.3.07*

Many year subscriber, have not been able to open the email paper for 6 weeks and get no help from a “real person” after being hung up on by the listed helper (Phillipine woman I could hardly understand. ) should be simple…it started w R/G not accepting my password….have been hanging ever sense. Tried to start all over by buying into the special and still cannot get paper. Not sure how they stay in business; good luck on ever talking with a real live human being. Such a drop in quality……

### 1/5 — Garbage app

*2019-04-29, version 2.8.13*

This glorified app that produces a local paper image crashes constantly. Spend a little bit of money to eliminate the constant crashes. Maybe spend a bit more and update the dated UI. I will never get a “paper” delivered but this is so bad that I’m considering dropping my subscription permanently. Please update this app to keep your digital consumers happy.

### 1/5 — Blurry print

*2019-03-10, version 2.8.13*

Must constantly reload edition every two or three pages in order to have a clear and unblurry page view. This makes reading my local paper a very tiresome and frustrating task, each and every day.
Also, the app will crash quite frequently and unexpectedly.
This has been an ongoing problem for several years now. I have been unable to get a call back when trying to remedy this.

### 2/5 — Was top notch prior to sell off

*2023-05-22*

The app had nearly flawless execution prior to the Baker family selling to Gannett. Gannett made some changes behind the scenes, and for a time, a virtual comedy of errors ensued. Duplicate pages, sections missing (including the entire Sumday funnies on more than one occasion), late delivery. At one point, we considered going with a different paper’s on line publication, but the price point was not to our liking. In short, it is only the price point that has kept us subscribing. Meanwhile, the errors have diminished, but are still present. Do you know, for example, you double-print the national re-hash of the headlines every day? Today, it’s section C. You’ve been doing this for weeks, if not months! Where is the proofreading these days?

Addendum: I don’t recall how long it’s been since the previous entry, but the quality of the app and the paper have not improved and I’ve dropped a star because of it. Since then, they have eliminated the entire op-ed section and the Sunday weekly Parade magazine. I presume this was a cost thing, but losing the op-ed kind of guts the public voice one looks for in a newspaper. Also, they continue to print an entire section of the paper (I presume from the Gannett national feed) that repeats a bunch of the news they covered in the first sections.
If they drop the funnies, I’ll have no further use for this.

### 2/5 — Better than nothing

*2020-06-01, version 3.1.74*

I’ve been a loyal reader for many years, but the new format has a lot of issues on the app. Pages get repeated in the supplemental sections, many captions cannot be read and never load at high enough resolution. The few local stories are minimal and I miss the solid reporting from previous years. The rest is easily found on other news outlets with much better quality reporting. I miss the old R-G!

### 3/5 — Tool bar and turn page button.

*2022-12-18, version 3.6.13*

The right side vertical tool bar is a good idea and I like it except somehow you saw fit to place the page turning icon on the page but very close to the tool bar where ‘see editions’ selection lives. I accidentally hit that “editions” at least a dozen times with every Sunday paper. My fingers are small and I’ve been using computers since 1985 so it isn’t entirely a user issue. It is a big annoyance. I also dislike the split screen view but that is a personal issue. Too narrow with very short choppy lines. Not beautiful but serviceable.

### 3/5 — It works so-so with Apple devices

*2022-02-28, version 3.3.07*

The Register-Guard is a worthy read and the best Oregon newspaper outside of Portland, but it took three weeks after download before it properly worked. It’s a Gannett paper so their centralized IT department is likely to blame. Also awful Customer Service loses another star here.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Able to keep up with local events

*2023-03-23*

We travel quarterly to a board meeting. The electronic version allows me the ability to keep up with our local news as well as National. I have figured out how to do 7 Little Words using a screenshot then using the”mark” feature on my phone and sudoku by taking a screenshot the then putting the numbers in an excel spreadsheet I made. I haven’t yet figured out how to do my other favorite without printing. We have read our paper in other countries as well!

### 5/5 — Loads quickly

*2023-01-01, version 3.6.13*

I like this app. The newspaper loads quickly and seems to be identical to the print version.

### 5/5 — Yes

*2022-08-06, version 3.6.13*

I throughly enjoy reading the paper daily and find the layout easily followed. Thank you

### 5/5 — Greatly improved!

*2022-06-22, version 3.6.13*

After being constantly frustrated with the RG app, I am totally pleased with the upgrade. It’s easy and a pleasure to use. Well done!

### 5/5 — Eugene Register-Guard App

*2022-04-22, version 3.6.05*

We moved from Coos Bay to Dallas, Oregon two years ago. I was missing the delivery of the newspaper but now I can read it on my cell phone or kindle so it’s all good again!
The app is easy to navigate and it looks just like the printed version. I can keep informed and also do the puzzles.

### 5/5 — Love having the news at my fingertips

*2022-04-22, version 3.6.05*

Reading the Register Guard e-edition is so convenient with so many advantages, i.e. the ability to enlarge the print. Also, having access to the bonus edition of USA Today is another plus.

### 5/5 — Great

*2022-03-29, version 3.6.05*

Able to read all the news that is fit to print

### 5/5 — Never got the physical paper because of piling up

*2022-02-10, version 3.3.07*

But the app makes it easy to glance over the news and not have 20 tons of recycling. I am sad about the decline in overall quality of the paper since it’s sale to the big money publisher, but since I never subscribed I guess I was part of the problem. I applaud the local journalists who are hanging in there and covering the local scene despite the circumstances. From what I have heard the out GHD the grapevine they have to do a lot of their own editing too, which is tricky. So good for them! Oh and the app has been working better and better I even figured out how to read the comics!

### 5/5 — pls Keep this App

*2022-01-08, version 3.3.07*

thank you for keeping this app going. i have a new ipad and experienced this app no longer working when downloaded (forced to use HTML 5). I was set to cancel my Register Guard subscription because of it. Just tried the app again and it worked. yes, not perfect but i like it. thank you.

### 5/5 — RG on line

*2021-11-27, version 3.3.07*

This on line newspaper is easy to read and easy to move through. I feel good about not cutting down so many trees
