After using the app for a couple days I can say that I am very pleased with the app. It has a clean interface and setup that is easy to use and navigate. I am not usually a big social media user but with rem it is different because you are talking about important things that you care about, to people who also care. Also, the more you interact the more impact you have because for every like/comment/post rem donates enough to either fortify meals or remove carbon from the atmosphere. Even when you aren’t donating, using rem is helping people. rem also does a lot of research and vetting into the charities that it recommends, so you know that your donations are going to the right places and doing the most good! However , in the current day and age these platforms have become very cluttered with content that take away from a lot of social good movements. I personally saw this with BLM. Rem is a great solution helping to provide a platform that makes it super easy to get involved in social good and Rem also keeps social good at the center of the platform. The design of the app is so pleasant and gorgeous, particularly the carousel. The stories are really moving. The rem team researches and vets charities throughly, so I know my money / units of impact is not wasted on inefficient or corrupt organizations. I’ve really enjoyed getting to share my charitable donations and learn about other important causes. Especially with the state of the world today, it’s more important than ever that everyone become conscientious and committed to social justice. It’s hard to think of any drawbacks to this app. Only quibble I might have is that the app is sort of structured like a social media app, and I don’t really use social media. Nevertheless, rem generates meaningful change just by interacting with the app and promotes positive discussion. So, it feels much less mindless and toxic than other forms of social media, and I don’t mind it at all.
