The Resistance Companion takes all the setup out of the amazing board game The Resistance and gets you right into the action! It starts by selecting a random player to be the Leader. It then takes you step by step, guiding you through the setup so you don't miss any steps. Most importantly, it handles narrating the Spy Phase so you don't have to! This app covers The Resistance base game without any expansions. Possible expansion support may be available in the future. The Resistance is fun without the app, but it’s life changing with it. The simple leader selection, the ominous voice, the chilling background music? This app is an essential on par with water, shelter, and ice cream. Actually though, it’s a great app. It’s how I made a lot of my friends in college. Plus the guy who makes it is wonderful. When the app wasn’t compatible with the new version of iOS, my friend emailed him and he had it fixed within days. Ignore the negative reviews that say you need to buy the game to use the app. It clearly says that in the app description, so I don’t know why people are upset about that. ### 3/5 — Update? *2021-06-11* While I agree it would be nice to have the extra roles and expansion options added, for just starting and leading you through the base game it’s great. Really like the music and atmosphere it creates. However, it doesn’t work on my phone’s iOS and says the developer needs to update it to work now. Will that be coming soon, I hope? ### 1/5 — Not worth it, does not support expansions (2020) *2020-09-08* This app was released years ago and still does not support any of the expansions, alternative rules, or even some of the new rules in the current (3rd) edition of the game. It has cool sound effects, which possibly could make it harder to understand if you have bad speakers. The sound effects/voice over are the only good things about this app. The only reason I wanted this is because once you start adding on expansions and alternative rules the “reveal phase” of the game can start to become complicated. Especially if you add all of them for an advanced group. But this app only works for the most basic rules, revealing the spies to each other. It also has a random generator to select the leader (which I find completely unnecessary). Complete waste of $3. I really hope the developer updates it or someone makes a new one. ### 1/5 — Not the complete game *2019-08-09* I bought it thinking I could have a mobile version of it to play on the go, but it’s literally just a leader randomizer and then narrates instructions. There’s no voting or mission playability. Wasted $2.99 ### 1/5 — Can I give it ZERO stars? *2017-10-21* This is no companion. Do NOT waste you money. Publisher, thanks for writing a lazy app that does what normally takes 5 minutes at the beginning of a game. This apps should be free. My complaint is it should support some the expansion roles, like Commander/Merlin, etc. and work with Avalon. It's no "One Night Ultimate Werewolf" app, which is free.
