### 4/5 — Some ideas

*2014-12-11, version 1.3*

Pretty good could use more fun games that appeal to 5-15. Make a big update for it and make more fun games for it

### 5/5 — Cute for kids

*2014-03-12, version 1.3*

Very cute.. I would use this in a school setting to explain the rock cycle.

### 5/5 — Awesome!!

*2014-02-02, version 1.3*

Great helped me study

### 4/5 — Really great, but....

*2014-01-05, version 1.3*

I can't get the app to read it to me. All my settings are fine. I love how you can choose different items in the story.

Only gave it four stars- will be 5 when I get the sound going.

### 5/5 — I'm amazed AND informed!

*2013-12-01, version 1.3*

This guy has taken his math, geology and writing education, and with his programming skills, has created a truly unique explanation of rock! I'm awed!

Not only that, but having explored to learn more about who he is, I'm even more awed by this. HE IS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL and has written this and other valuable programs for the purpose of helping other students grasp these topics.

This is a person who is living the last lines of his verse:

"But learn one thing from this rhyme.
You can be anything, just take your time.
So always overcome your fears
Even if it takes a thousand years"

Psst... Venkat... Fix the broken "survey" link on the first page of the rock story.

### 4/5 — recommended for begginers

*2013-11-09, version 1.3*

A very fun way to learn rock cycle. Good job.

### 5/5 — Poetic

*2013-11-02, version 1.3*

I loved this app. As a geologist it's nothing new but the poetry as the story goes is worth it. It would be great for kids and people interested in rocks. I would highly recommend this!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2013-10-29, version 1.3*

Great easy way to learn about the rock cycle.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2013-09-09, version 1.3*

It helped me so much to under sand alot now im ready for my test!!

### 4/5 — Cute AND educational

*2013-08-05, version 1.3*

I liked it, it's worth the download- cute and informative enough to want to roll on through it a few times hehe

### 5/5 — Great illustration

*2013-05-05, version 1.3*

Cute illustration of the rock cycle.

### 4/5 — Good limericks.

*2013-04-26, version 1.3*

Good explanations and engaging app.

### 4/5 — Good app for high school geo student

*2013-03-10, version 1.2*

Surely gave me a clearer picture of the rock cycle.

The part about geothermal gradient wasn't quite clear, which I think is the only shortcoming of the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Boring

*2016-04-29, version 1.3*

It was broing

### 1/5 — Weird

*2016-02-24, version 1.3*

It is very boring it is a story that as a kid I would never actually read it

### 1/5 — Not interactive

*2013-08-26, version 1.3*

It's pretty much just a PowerPoint presentation. Why make it an app?

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2012-07-27, version 1.1*

I thought it would be more interactive with better pictures. I will stay with another site that I use.

### 2/5 — Shaking doesn't work

*2013-05-28, version 1.3*

Interesting idea -- shaking the screen to make it swap between screens. But it doesn't work, and it made it crash. Info is good but written as a story, with assumption that reader has some background info, or familiarity with such a genre makes it inappropriate for 4th grade. Rock cycle is part of our science standards.

### 3/5 — Good but shaking phrases annoying

*2015-05-07, version 1.3*

I find I can't read the descriptions because the shaking bit down at the bottom -- I have to cover it show I try to go through it.

### 3/5 — Good.

*2012-04-25, version 1.1*

Would have been better with diagrams showing what stage of rock cycle changes were. Diagram with highlighted arrows.
Great------more VISUALS. Remember students who don't speak English as first language and disabled kids need this info too.

### 3/5 — Needs more graphics

*2012-04-15, version 1.1*

I downloaded this looking for something to review the rock cycle with my students. I like the story aspect of it, but there was too much text (students won't read it) And not enough pictures or animations. I also want to know where the actual rock CYCLE is in the app. There at least needs to be a picture of the cycle. It's ok, but I probably won't be using it for my classroom.

### 4/5 — Science Stories

*2022-04-21, version 1.4*

Thank you for the "ROCK STORY". I often spend time with my grandchildren talking walks along the shores of the ocean, lakes, rivers, as well as, swimming and snorkeling.
I've often told them of the treasures found at the bottom, mostly ROCKS AND THE STORIES OF THEIR LIVES if you look for them. Consequently they now have small boxes full of treasures. Including SEA GLASS, DRIFTWOOD and rocks of many different shapes, sizes, colors and composition. Having a collection of books with pictures with detailed descriptions of their origins and how they traveled to the PACIFIC NORTHWEST. Your short story helped my long explanations make sense to them and our hunting exciting. Fun and educational.

### 4/5 — Cute

*2015-06-20, version 1.3*

It's cute and it's nice to have a different take on the rock cycle. The shake thing doesn't work for me but pushing next does so no big deal. 4 stars because it needs more graphics. It could really be something truly special.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This is amazing

*2023-04-18*

I don’t know why, but i love this rhyme even though it is learning.

### 5/5 — This app rocks!

*2021-08-04, version 1.4*

As a former middle school science teacher, I’m going to be recommending this to friends who teach geology - what an entertaining supplement. Fun for us rockhounds, too.

### 5/5 — Well done

*2018-11-20, version 1.4*

Keep up the good work, lad. We need sharp, driven, innovative recruits in the sciences.
Graduate school awaits.

### 5/5 — WOO

*2015-07-11, version 1.3*

I absolutely love this app! I never understood the rock cycle before this. But with this app, I get it now! Wow! What a game changer! I absolutely recommend this app and all the other apps that this company has made.

### 5/5 — Great app helps lots

*2015-02-18, version 1.3*

This app really helped me with my labs in science

### 5/5 — Lovely

*2015-01-30, version 1.3*

After one story play through, I'm struck by the humble beauty! It's so unusual and fantastic to see narrative, poetry, and science.

### 5/5 — Good for teaching

*2015-01-02, version 1.3*

Teaching juniors in a rock club is non-stop search for material. This is a good aid for teaching the rock cycle. Plus at the beginning there's a great poem written by a teen that is educational and inspiring. Our are kids range in age from 6 to 15 enjoyed the poem as well as the adults in the club.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2014-04-10, version 1.3*

I'm a geology major, and I found this app informative, entertaining, and fun! I like the interactive bits, and the poem is just adorable. I would love to see this expanded to include more types of rocks, maybe even add a choose-your-own adventure type aspect to it. Great job so far!
