At its core, Scout is a social media platform that allows users to discover and share stunning locations around the world.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Browse the Home Feed for locations in your vicinity as well as those posted by your favorite Scouters. Use the explore page to scout locations for upcoming trips or your next shoot. Once you’ve selected the perfect location, ‘Unlock’ the exact coordinates, shooting tips, and other advice provided by the Scouter.

HOW ARE SCOUTERS REWARDED?
Beyond its core functionality, Scout provides an incentivizing platform that rewards you for curating and sharing unique locations. Scouters receive a commission each time a user ‘Unlocks’ your location - monetizing the creative effort that goes into finding worthy locations.

Home Feed:
-Discover locations that are in your neighborhood
-See locations posted by your favorite Scouters and influencers
-See how many times a location has been unlocked and preview it before unlocking

Explore Page:
-Search for locations in a specific city or region
-Filter based on how far you are willing to travel
-Find Scouters anywhere in the world and follow them to see all their locations
-Save/bookmark locations to unlock later (ie. for planning a trip!)

Unlocking a Location:
-Purchase unlocks In-App
-Use unlocks to get the coordinates and shooting tips for your perfect locations
-Tap the “Scout It!” button to open the location in Maps with directions on how to get there from your current location
-Rate the location and comment to help future users with additional tips or advice

Posting a Location:
-Choose photos from your gallery or take a shot on location
-GPS coordinates are automatically entered (if the photo contains location metadata)
-Link to the social post associated with the location (ie. Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.)
-Provide information about the location such as time of year, lighting conditions, and more
-Connect your PayPal account and every time a user unlocks your location, you earn a commission!

Profile Page:
-Customize your profile with a profile picture, tags, and short bio to let other users know what you’re all about!
-View all locations that you have scouted, those that you’ve unlocked, and any that you saved for later
-Browse users that you follow and those that follow you
-Access your unlock store to purchase unlocks
-Share your profile on other platforms to bring in followers that will unlock your locations!

this app is a flop, it doesn't work at all and then when you finally get it too you have to pay to see public locations. feels like a huge money trap. i'll just stick to instagram and using the map to search locations there. super disappointed with all the buzz Emma created around it and the boujie trips for it to be such a bad app. maybe put the money back into making the app actually work and not charge for every location.

i love emma but this app is so hard to use for literally no reason. i can’t sign up for an account still and it is soooo slow. it’s been a long time since the app launched idk why these issues haven’t been fixed.

I’ve followed Emma for a while and wanted to like this app so badly but the concept is absolutely ridiculous. Paying for public locations that no one owns? Also it’s supposed to help smaller creators… in what world? For $1.99 per location? You can’t search anything on the app and features are super inconsistent between pages. Why is it that you can only see the number of “unlocks” on the main feed? An app called Bimble does this better and for free. Really hated this app and i can’t imagine how it’s profitable at all

I have tried to sign up with multiple emails and I have never made it past the signup section of the process. The screen freezes, and then when I try to create an account again it says that there is already an account with my email. When I try to log in it says account doesn’t exist. Just a bunch of contradictions. I’ve wasted a lot of time unfortunately trying to get this to work

you have to pay $1.99 per location which is a complete rip off! i might as well DM a creator to ask where a location is. also, it would be so much easier if there was a map where you could see scouted locations near you, versus scrolling endlessly. pages take forever to load.

I think the idea of this app was great. However the execution… not so much. As someone who has an app this entire idea could be added as a feature in an already established app. The fact that I have to pay to unlock a location is frustrating and gives off gatekeep-y vibes. The app is slow and take forever on certain pages. I can’t pin a location by typing it in, I have to actually search the map with my fingers and then set a pin. It’s not worth trying to make money on this app

I was really excited to use this app but was VERY disappointed. I’m huge fan of Emma but this feels like a cash grab, you have to pay to unlock the locations… I’m sure many people don’t want to pay just to find a location for a photo. Not only that but the app is extremely slow and I can 100% confirm it has nothing to do with my internet. I really wanted to love this app but I’m very disappointed.
