## What is The Scrungeon Depths?

The surface world has been rendered useless. As evil energy weighs heavy on the atmosphere, a chasm opens and births what can only be described as a malignant structure of pure hate. With no where to go but down, our fearless hero thrusts himself into a seemingly endless dungeon that knows nothing but pain and misery. Beings spoken about in whispers since the dawn of time known as the Hollow Ones dwell within, controlling the uncontrollable chaos. Welcome to… The Scrungeon Depths.

What the web is saying about The Scrungeon Depths:

"The Scrungeon Depths is an incredibly clever game that manages to both exemplify and satirise the dungeon crawling genre..."
- TouchArcade

"This roguelike madhouse does exactly what it says in the tin: you'll fight a lot, you'll die a lot, and you'll experience some pretty big, bad bosses in the darkest depths of the world."
- Pocket Gamer

"Everything runs buttery smooth and the controls work perfectly. The visuals are a beautiful mix of chunky pixel art."
-Snappzilla

The Scrungeon Depths is an over the top, ludicrously randomly generated rogue like madhouse. Wade through the body parts of defeated foes to crawl ever deeper and seek answers to the mysteries held within. Only the strong (and slightly insane) will survive.

INSANE- First lets start off by saying how bananas The Scrungeon Depths truly is. The amount of random number generation that actually runs this entire universe is out of control. Only the strong willed will survive.

NEVER ENDING- Some prefer a neatly wrapped package. Others live on the wild side and tear a present open hoping for more than socks. Scrungeon is more than socks. Though, socks do ward off damaging floor traps...

INTENSE- Intensity can sometimes be a bad thing, but when baddies are afoot, nothing could be further from the truth! Fight fast and furiously. Don't break your screen, though.

MFI CONTROLLER COMPATIBLE- Because why not? You've got a Nimbus lying around somewhere, don't you? Use it.

## Key features

- Procedurally generated dungeons
- Intense, fast-paced combat
- Chunky pixel art visuals
- MFI controller compatibility
- Random number generation for gameplay
- Boss battles

Great game, fun to play, easy to pick up and play, simple controls.

### 5/5 — Dungeon beast master 9000

*2019-12-10, version 2.0*

This game is an absolute blast!! Non stop beast killin! The names of the weapons and armor crack me up. It’s the right amount of challenge for reward and fun. The boss battles are fun to try and master. Excited to see what this crazy talented developer comes up with next.

### 5/5 — Fast paced simple dungeon crawler with loot

*2019-12-01*

This game is a good pickup dungeon crawler. Lots of funny names items. The controls are pretty tight except for the bows they are a bit hard to use. The games got levels and bosses. There aren’t too many games like this on the App Store with this quality so if you want an easy quick speed run type hack and slash with loot, at this price point, it’s worth it.

### 4/5 — stupid me

*2019-03-30, version 2.0*

So far my only issue is sometimes in the heat of battle i’ll pick up an item I didn’t mean to and I have no way of getting my old one back, maybe a drop/pick up system would be more appropriate.

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2018-06-05, version 2.0*

I tried this game at DreamHack and managed to get past the second boss but it was constant action while playing so I decided to get it and I love it!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2018-06-02, version 2.0*

Great game but needs more. Skill trees spells maybe different looking levels. But what would really make it for me is different awesome looking gear. You get a few look changes now but making the gear look really cool would be awesome. Thanks and can’t wIt to see what the future holds!

### 5/5 — Copulate my soul with pixelated fallacies.

*2018-05-21, version 2.0*

I have no being. I make the Scrunge my being.
I have no life and death, I make the tidal void my life and death.
I have no weapon. Well...I DO have several weapons.

This is not a review. It’s a battle cry. SCRUNGEONEERS...AAASSSSSEEEEMBBLLEEEEE!!!

Buy this game or you’re a poo-poo head.

### 5/5 — Brutal, Pixelated Fun With The Heart of Gauntlet

*2018-03-24, version 2.0*

UPDATE: The update! Why still 5 stars? Because the update. Dude.

Take all that you love about Gauntlet (except for multiplayer), add randomized weapons, armor, & upgrades (much like Borderlands), a pleasing yet menacing score, and leave the dismembered bodies to litter the floor. Permanent upgrades to your character (Gwarmbee is that you?) will enhance each game giving it unlimited replay value. There are many different monsters to slay-each with their own evil tendencies. The boss battles are intense and require both skill & strategy like a Zelda boss on steroids.
I love this game so much I bought a copy on iPhone for myself and a copy on Android for my wife. If cross-platform multiplayer was available...we probably wouldn’t play another game...that is, unless Gwarmbee receives an update that brings it to the “Scrungeon” level. We’re very excited to see what you do next Mr. Holton!
P.S. If you haven’t tried Gwarmbee, it’s a must! Besides, it’s completely free...no ads, no IAP’s, and the gameplay is genius!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2018-02-27

This update from Apple will improve the functionality of this app. No new features are included.

The planet continues to crumble beneath the weight of enveloping darkness. The Schrism erupts and tears yet another hole in the sky. The atmosphere drips into space like the tears of a starving infant. Agonizing fear cripples the populace as the ozone melts away. This is the end. The horror has only begun to dig it’s filthy, wretched claws into skin and bone. The Hollow Ones rise again stronger than before, pushing our hero harder than ever. A couple new monsters crawled forth from the schism in the void, unleashing terrible new pain on the unsuspecting Scrungeoneer.

As time and space tore asunder yet again, new relics were sprinkled beneath the surface, apparently one of which summons a stench filled puppy. Were blades too up close and personal for you? What about swords imbued with flame? Or daggers dripping with poison? Or bows that transcend this mortal realm by piercing through the flesh of as many enemies as it can?

The time has come to trudge deeper than ever before and put an end to the Schrism once and for all. This will not be easy, Scrungeoneers.

Take up arms, fight back.

TL;DR
THE SCHRISM UPDATE IS HERE:

- New relics and weapons!
- New enemies!
- Hard mode bosses beyond the endgame.
- New final boss fight!
- Various bug fixes.
- A new dungeon floor effect.
- A new trap.
- I still love you.

### 1.2 — 2017-11-13

Chaos and malice brewed deep within the Scrungeon. Time and space collapsed as the populace averted their gaze. For too long now, the fickle plane that the malignant structure took purchase upon sat dormant, as the colors that light produced would fade away to nothingness.

Beyond its fading existence from the mortal coil, so too did portals erupt from the floor... and at times the void and its unwavering attempt to thwart the Scrungeoneers would prevail. These steps into the depths of madness would be unreachable by the laws of our physical realm. Shrill laughter, tauntingly echoed throughout the Scrungeon, as the Hollow Ones could rest another century.

But fear not, my faithful Scrungeon explorers! As the omnipotent being that I am, I, like many, make mistakes. Thankfully, though, we may all dust off the remnants of our failures and take up the saddle to try yet again. Fort Unity has become my realm of solitude as of late, not resting until the void could be pushed back even more, crushing the evil plans of the forgotten lords once and for all.

To combat the seemingly illogical entrance and exit of the Scrungeon from our dimension, I’ve opened safe passage to what I believe is a haven amongst the spelunking. I call it... “The Inbetween.” This small plane exists only for a moment in time when all seems lost, caressing your wounds and grasping what material possessions you may have gathered on your quest. Abuse of this privilege may have dire consequences, so proceed with caution. The very fact that this has been opened to such as yourselves is almost beyond my powers. Take caution, but do not fear. To avert thy eyes is no longer punishable by an unavoidable death.

As you were, Scrungeoneers.

- C

TL;DR
- Player progress is saved when game is closed.
- MFI Controller updates for various UI tweaks.
- Various minor bug fixes. Vague, yes, but accurate.
- A new song added for “The Inbetween”, so sit back and relax.
- I love you.

### 1.1.1 — 2017-11-10

Through some windows, the world looked distorted... the Scrungeon itself seemed to warp and wiggle its way onto whichever display it could, regardless of form or function.

Some claimed it to be atrociously stretched. As the humble creator of such a world, I was appalled and stared further into the abyss only to find my creation had failed me. This was unacceptable. Survivors and purveyors of the unknown and dangerous deserved to perish with pixel perfect views of their vomited insides and bloody corpses.

I rode my majestic steed to Fort Unity to confront these mishaps head on, only to find an elegant solution was just beneath my finger tips.

The lords of Apple have yet to approve these humble changes to the universe as we know it. Await thy gift, and be rewarded. For no one shall be starved for screen real estate ever again.

- C

PS. I’m not too sure how to write patch notes... TL;DR : aspect ratio issues have been fixed on iPhone X and iPads.

### 1.1 — 2017-11-09

Minor bug fixes... they lurk ever so deep within the Scrungeon...

### 1.0 — 2017-11-09

No release notes.
