### 2/5 — Hard to work app

*2026-01-30, version 320.5.1*

The shades are FABULOUS! The App is very difficult to work. Even the installers have had trouble helping me get timers set

### 3/5 — Miss battery percentage

*2025-08-21, version 320.4*

App used to show battery percentage now the feature is gone

### 3/5 — Glitchy but mostly works

*2025-07-01, version 320.3*

After the latest update, I had to manually update the settings for four of my seven shades. The system prompted me to indicate what kind of charger I had for each one. This seemed odd, but the app seems ok otherwise. I’ve had my shades since 2021 and mostly love them. The automations and integration with Google Home are very helpful. As others have noted, pairing the app with the shades and my home system was way more complicated than it should be. I’m hoping that is something I won’t need to do again.

### 2/5 — Incredible number of problems

*2025-05-31, version 320.3*

Shade timers don’t close shades to the configured amount. With a second timer, shades start to open to the configured amount then reverse and open all the way. My drapes won’t pair with the hub. All in all, it seems like it could not have been tested with real products. Very disappointing…

### 1/5 — Never works

*2025-03-26, version 318.3*

Never works!

### 1/5 — Just does not work

*2025-03-20, version 318.3*

I’ve tried multiple times with tech support to use the app/hub. It’s just not intuitive or functional. Scenes and timers? The installers don’t even endorse it!

### 1/5 — Worthless & Pointless

*2025-03-03, version 318.3*

I agree with the other reviewers. The app is as pointless and worthless as the $200 hub. Neither will connect to the network or devices. Have tried all the troubleshooting steps on the very limited support site. The support email is unresponsive. Not sure why I spent so much money on these shades. Would advise choosing a different company. The lutron shades work great if you don't use the Shade Store.

### 1/5 — Zero Stars

*2025-02-09, version 318.3*

I never write reviews, but this is truly the most ridiculous piece of junk I have ever purchased. It is a stick in the eye after spending so much money on automated shades. Dear shade store, remove this app from the App Store and hire a 12-year-old who can write better code than this. It is truly an insult to your customers.

PS - how do you have reviews that are four years old here documenting these problems and yet still this thing is a total piece of junk?

### 1/5 — terrible app & even worse support

*2025-02-07, version 318.3*

i have been trying to get help for over a month with no resolution in sight. i’ve spent countless hours on hold, weeks waiting for a new hub, more weeks waiting for virtual tech assistance and i still can’t use the stupid app to set timers. actually i can set the timers, they just don’t work when they’re set to. i get woken up in the middle of the night with them going up and they close during the day whenever they want. really frustrated and don’t know where else to turn for help.

### 1/5 — Worked for about a year

*2025-01-24, version 318.3*

Infuriating hardware and software. The fact that I have to tie the hub to HomeKit is bonkers. I had to disable all HomeKit hubs in order to onboard. Once onboarded I turned all HomeKit hubs back on and the hub disappeared from the network stating it was offline. Unable to connect to ‘wifi’ via the settings so it’s forcing me to use ethernet. I work in tech and I work in hardware, it shouldn’t require planets to align to onboard a product.

### 1/5 — Not functional

*2025-01-07, version 318.3*

The device hub that was sent didn’t work at all so they are needing to send a new device. It is so laggy that it times out and you have to really mess with it to get it to work. Hopefully the next one works we shall see

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2024-10-25, version 318.2*

This app is almost as worthless as the non working hub. Not accurate, doesn’t open or shut shades, battery charge not reliable, new interface worse than old, pointless. The shade store is aware for years this hub does not work, but they have done absolutely nothing to resolve. Doesn’t stay connected and you need a hub in every room not one for the house. The motorization only works via remote, not app or Alexa, or home, because of the defective hub and not working app. Grossly overpriced and fraudulent to claim it integrates into alexa or the app!

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-10-10, version 318.2*

Blinds do not work with Homekit.

### 1/5 — Hours wasted

*2024-10-08, version 318.2*

Wish I had read reviews before attempting to use shade store hub and app. Their installer could not get it to work after two visits and hours wasted. I was able to set up with a Bond Bridge hub and Bond Home app in 15 minutes works great now on IOS and Alexa.

### 3/5 — Ok.. but

*2024-09-21, version 318.2*

It keeps removing two shades after a few days that were added.

### 1/5 — App needs reprogramming every 2 hrs

*2024-09-12, version 318.2*

The hub works fine the app will not stay programmed lose all rooms and blings within 2 hours of programming very frustrating

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Thought it couldn’t get worse

*2026-02-04, version 320.5.1*

The old app was terrible but at least it generally worked. New app lost all my settings and devices. Basically bricked my whole system. Embarrassing app for Shade Store but from the reviews it’s pretty clear they don’t care.

### 1/5 — The app doesn’t befit the brand

*2026-01-18, version 320.5.1*

The app and firmware are extremely buggy. I’ve had to do a soft reset on the firmware 5 times in 2 months. Even the installers gave up trying to setup the hub! Thankfully I’m a software engineer and I was able to figure it out the next day.

This feels unacceptable after spending $8,000 on the shades + smart home hub. The app itself feels like a high school project.

### 1/5 — The app lost all saved blinds after unplugging the hub

*2026-01-07, version 320.5.1*

I added the blinds into the shade store app and connected it with google home. The hub was unplugged and now i notice in the app all the blinds and rooms i added have been erased. What a waste of time.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-08-24, version 320.4*

The V2 app is garbage. I had the same experience as another recent review. V1 worked great but now I am unable to control the shades or set any automations with the app. It’s infuriating that now I have to buy another hub when the one I have is in working condition.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-08-11, version 320.4*

After several years of working just fine, my shades now do not work at all with the app. Had a technician come and switch out of hub, they still don’t work at all (since about 3 or 4 months ago).

### 1/5 — Unacceptable

*2025-06-15, version 320.3*

The new Shade Store App (V2) does NOT work with the original black Wi-Fi hub I purchased from the Shade Store a few years ago. Unfortunately, the company decided to pull the original Shade Store App (V1), which worked perfectly well with the original Wi-Fi hub. When I reached out to the Shade Store, they told me I needed to buy a completely new Wi-Fi hub for $200. I paid $150 for the original Wi-Fi hub, and I did not expect that it would be made obsolete by the company that sold it to me in just a few years. It is a working piece of equipment, and I find it unacceptable that it should have to be thrown out and replaced. Please make the original Shade Store App (V1) available again for download.

### 1/5 — All bugs and issues

*2025-04-28, version 318.3*

I’ve had so many issues with this app and related hub over the years. Tons of bugs, a pain to set up and reset every time it fails. I’ve not had any issues with other smart home tech and would recommend you go with another retailer if you want motorized shades that you can rely on without hiccups.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-04-04, version 318.3*

The app does not work, integration with Apple HomeKit does not work, device does not work(on my second one). Don’t waste your money on this.

### 1/5 — As bad as the reviews sound

*2025-03-27, version 318.3*

Garbage app, garbage tech, garbage company.

### 1/5 — New V2 App - Old original HUB - NOT COMPATIBLE

*2025-03-26, version 318.3*

Consistent with similar App reviews and complaints, I've lost remote control of my blinds via iPhone App because the new V2 version of the App is NOT compatible with the original WiFi hub! How a company can release an App knowing that prior customers with the original HUB and original App would not be supported is totally unacceptable!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — HomeKit working in iOS 26 with bridge pro

*2025-11-07, version 320.5.1*

New bridge with matter support solves the problems with the old bridge. Everything is working now for the most part. Thanks for improving things over time.

### 5/5 — Improved performance

*2025-08-15, version 320.4*

Had replaced the wireless link recently and the performance is much improved!

### 5/5 — Works Great

*2025-03-30, version 318.3*

I’m using this app to set timers for three blinds to block afternoon sun. Has been working as expected for a few months. I occasionally use HomeKit/Siri, no issues.

### 5/5 — 17.6 nerfed homekit

*2024-08-01, version 2.8.1*

Please update the app for 17.6 and 18.0. Status now doesn’t update on homekit.

### 5/5 — Works Fine

*2024-07-30, version 2.8.1*

I have 20 shades; a mix of solar and blackout. Programming the shades, adding scenes and timers was pretty easy. All works as intended.

### 5/5 — It actually worked for me!

*2023-10-20, version 2.8.1*

Saw a lot of hate here but the hubs and app have so far worked well. Hubs shipped blinking orange but I used a pen to reset and get them to blink blue. They then paired with my google mesh dual band WiFi no problem. Setting up shades was easy. Adding to google home was easy. “Hey google open my laundry room shade” works without fail - signal from hubs to shades is pretty good too. I got two hubs and they cover 3000 sqft or so without issue.

### 5/5 — HK seems to work with 16.3.1. Don’t mess it up!

*2023-02-17, version 2.7.3*

The HK compatibility seems to be working with the current IOS build. Let’s hope that continues. I changed my review given now for some reason (no update on Shade Store’s end) the functionality works reasonably well…

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2022-12-20, version 2.7.3*

After years of struggling to make my shades work with Alexa, getting nowhere despite multiple attempts with Amazon and The Shade Store, success. I owe it all to the wonderful tech support person—not sure if names are allowed, so JS—who stuck with me though the new hub balking at joining my merry little IoT and Alexa’s steadfast opposition to recognizing anything Shade Store.

Pairing of shades and setting up rooms and scenes on the app (and groups and scenes in Alexa) went smoothly and quickly (aided by the prior years’ experience of needing to delete and re-add them to get Alexa to work)—I may be jinxing myself but everything finally works together. The only thing, and it’s minor, is V2 uses % shade open and V1 uses % closed so I’m getting used to reversing commands —but after years of pain this is so amazing.

Fingers crossed that going forward no one’s updates destroys this happy union.

### 5/5 — Shade timers/ hub

*2022-10-16*

The shades are beautiful, they work great on the app. The sunset and sunrise timers are my favorite. I had the hub hanging on the wall, I realized that was causing the bedroom shade to not respond (instructions are specific “lay flat don’t put on side”). I put it flat, now all shades are working. It’s a really great system, it also works with my Alexa app. Nothing like saying “Alex open all shades” and all the windows let light in.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2022-05-10, version 2.7.3*

Works great! Nice and simple. I had a small issue with initial set up but reached out to customer service and someone did a virtual walk through with me and got it all up and running in a couple of minutes. Highly recommend!

**Developer response:** Thank you for this wonderful review. We're glad that you are enjoying the functionality of our app.
