I’m giving it four stars because the UX of uploading/finding photos has changed but not for the better. Pictures take me the longest to organize and sometimes I worry I’ve already used a picture somewhere else in the book. It would be helpful if there was a feature to alert you if the same or a similar picture was already used. A prompt or a tab you could quickly look through that shows all pictures and videos used. The questions are creative, and I am thankful for those specific prompts. I used this app when my son was born. I got a little bit behind and thought that a paper baby book would be easier with my daughter, but I ended up just wanting to do this with her again because it so hard with kids to have a paper baby book out all the time and remember to write in it. This makes it easier to catalog every little memory.. there’s plenty of space to write down all the funny little memories that you have that you don’t wanna forget. I keep organized folders by month via iPhone photos and I can’t find any of these folders within the new version of the short years app. The short years needs to the old way!! ### 1/5 — Just use AI to write your baby book *2025-09-19, version 9.0* I have loved this app and product, it has allowed me to consistently complete my son’s baby book. I was happy to pay over $100 for this product. I’m writing this review to express my sincere disappointment that the developers have added an AI option to each page. Really?? We don’t need AI for everything. Let’s just completely remove all personal connection and meaning from the book that’s meant to preserve the memories of our baby’s first year. I get that I don’t have to use it but the fact that they decided this was a good idea really turns me off of the developers and we won’t be spending any more money with them. How utterly sad. Also note that the quality of the printed pages is not worth what they charge for them, unfortunately. Would not recommend this app. ### 2/5 — Disappointing Customer Service *2026-08-18, version 9.20* I purchased 2 complete set of boxes, folders, and personalized stickers, something I had wanted for years. Unfortunately, there were issues with the name stickers, one had a printing error, while the other was ordered incorrectly on our end. We contacted the company promptly, but were told our only option was to repurchase both stickers for approximately $8 each. Despite reaching out multiple times, there was no willingness to offer a replacement, discount, or meet us halfway, as we were told this was simply their policy. I understand policies regarding customer ordering errors, but considering we purchased the complete set and also experienced a printing issue, the lack of flexibility was disappointing. The image quality is much lower than expected, and the card stock is very thin — it feels like it won’t hold up as my child grows. For the price, I expected something much sturdier and more polished. I thought the pages would feel like matte photo prints, but they’re just lightweight card stock. After adding all the app extras, the total would come to around $300, and it’s simply not worth that.
