## What is The Social Scripture?

Social Scripture is a Bible app for people who read closely, write down what they find, and are willing to defend it.

READ IN THE ORIGINAL
The King James Version alongside the American Standard, World English, and 1599 Geneva Bibles. Read the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew and the New Testament in the Greek of Westcott and Hort. Hold any word to see its parsing — stem, tense, person, gender, number — and its dictionary entry, drawn from 8,674 Hebrew and 5,523 Greek lexicon entries. Morphology covers the Old Testament in Hebrew and 7,938 of the 7,940 verses of the Greek New Testament.

BEYOND THE SIXTY-SIX
The Apocrypha. Twenty-five works of the early church fathers, dated and in order. The complete Mishnah, arranged by its six orders. All searchable, all quotable, all in the same reader.

NOTES THAT GO SOMEWHERE
Highlight a verse or a single word. Write notes and keep them private, share them with friends, post them to a study group, or publish them to the Public Bible where anyone can read and comment. Tag any verse from anywhere in the app and tap the tag to jump straight to it. Build topics that gather passages across books.

STUDY WITH OTHERS
Follow people whose reading you trust. Start a group for your church or your class, with roles, moderation, and a shared wall. Message directly. See who is online.

THEN DEBATE IT
This is what makes Social Scripture different. Challenge a public note or topic and the author is shown exactly what you disagree with and why — you cannot issue a challenge without writing your objection first.
Debates run in three formats. Written debates follow a formal structure, with constructives, rebuttals, and closing arguments on timed deadlines. Video debates run on your own stream. Verbal debates happen in an in-app audio room: debaters and a moderator speak, everyone else listens, and the moderator can mute a mic.
Both debaters must agree on the time, and on a moderator if they want one — the challenge card passes back and forth until you settle it. When the debate closes, the room locks and voting opens for seven days. The community decides. Voting is locked until the debate is over, you cannot vote for yourself, and a result only stands once enough people have voted.

RECORDED, WITH CONSENT
Verbal debates are recorded only after every debater and moderator agrees on a consent screen. Listeners are never recorded, and a notice appears in the room whenever recording is active. Recordings are stored privately and deleted automatically when voting closes.

YOUR ACCOUNT, YOUR TERMS
Export your notes. Delete your account and its data from inside the app. Report or block anyone. Group leaders and moderators can remove content from their own spaces.

### 3/5 — I really loved the community debates but it’s very buggy

*2026-08-23*

I embarked on an extremely productive debate with a really knowledgeable man on salvation, which I learned a lot from. So the community is small, but dedicated.

However, the app itself is very buggy and its design is not very good so if it can improve on that then 4.5 stars.

### 4/5 — Has great potential for a midrosh app

*2026-08-22*

I’ve used this app for about a day. It’s got a lot of wonderful resources and Bibles to use for study. the concept is a great means for a debate and midrosh. I look forward to seeing more Bible tools and an improved presentation as the app is updated. It definitely needs an update which is the reason for my 4stare as the app keeps freezing up on my iPhone

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-17

Listen mode is here. Tap Listen to have the app read to you aloud — articles, topic studies, the Bible reader, and your personal notes. In literature debates, play the whole debate straight through with a distinct voice for each debater, or tap the speaker icon on any single section. Pause, resume, and stop anytime.

You can also now counter a debate challenge with a different format — propose a live verbal or video debate in place of a written one, and settle the details together. Video debates support both a YouTube watch link and a streaming-platform link.

Also includes smaller fixes and polish throughout.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-11

Offline Bibles: download Scripture to read, parse, and search without a connection.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-29
