## What is The Talking Banana?

The Talking Banana is a social app built around one simple idea:
everyone gets the same daily challenge.

Every day, there’s a new one.
Quick. Creative. Sometimes chaotic.

You record a short video, share it, and see what everyone else made.

Same challenge.
Completely different videos.

Some are clever.
Some are weird.
Some are way funnier than they should be.

No pressure.
No perfect setup.
No need to overthink it.

Just one fun thing to do today -
and a feed full of completely different ways people ran with the exact same idea.

Act something out.
Build something.
Improvise.
Or fully commit to something delightfully weird.

Open the challenge.
Hit record.
See where it goes.

Dare. Record. Share.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.9 — 2026-06-29

- You can now complete the daily challenge with either a video or a photo — the challenge popup lets you pick which one right away.
- Taking a photo now uses the same full-screen camera as video, with the challenge shown at the top, a flip button, and a retake option.
- "My Videos" is now "My Content" — your photos show up there too, each marked as a photo or a video, and you can tap a photo to view it full-screen.
- When picking a challenge for a group, each one now shows a short description so you know the goal — not just the title.
- When a group challenge ends in a tie, everyone with the most votes is now shown as a winner — not just one person.
- Feed videos now use less data and play more smoothly — clips you've already watched replay instantly without downloading again.
- A new banner gently reminds you to update when a newer recommended version is available — tap it to jump straight to the store.
- The feed has a fresh full-screen, swipe-up look with a simple bottom bar to move around.
- The feed now shows photos as well as videos, each filling the screen edge to edge.
- The plus button opens your daily challenge and your group challenges together in one place.
- Group Challenges are now available to everyone — open the menu to jump in and challenge your friends.
- My Videos now shows a Group badge on entries you recorded for a group challenge — tap it to jump back to that group.
- In a group challenge, each participant who has uploaded now shows a Watch button — tap it to play their entry instead of just seeing their status.
- After you've submitted your own entry to a group challenge, the bottom of the screen now shows a Watch your entry button instead of a plain note.
- The group challenges list now shows a small green check on each avatar of participants who have already uploaded — see who's done at a glance.
- When you create a group challenge, the challenge list now shows only challenges built for group play, so every option you pick will work.
- Group challenges now move to voting and results on their own when the timer runs out, so they no longer look stuck on the previous step.
- When a group challenge ends, the winner is now shown in a clear banner at the top with their votes — and you can tap Watch to play the winning entry — instead of a tiny trophy that was easy to miss.
- Tapping the "Winner announced" notification now takes you straight to that group challenge's results.
- Tapping the "Voting is open" notification now takes you straight to that group challenge so you can vote.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-05-19

- See your friends' avatars on every video they liked, with a "+N" count showing the rest of the love.
- @-mention your friends in comments — type @ and pick from the list.
- Add a short description to your video on the preview screen before you share.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-05-11

- Track your invite progress to six tiers — Banana Buddy, Top Banana, Banana Boss, Banana Legend, Banana King, and Banana God.
- See both metrics on the invite screen — how many friends signed up, and how many completed their first challenge.
- Clearer next-goal highlight — the tier you're working toward stands out, future tiers stay greyed out until you reach them.
- Your purchased avatar frame now shows up everywhere it should — feed, challenge overlay, and comments.
- Premium Drop cards now show the difficulty level and how many days are left before the challenge rotates out, and clearly mark challenges you've already completed.
- Pause and resume your recording as many times as you like, replay what you've captured before submitting, and tap Done when ready. iOS only for now.
- Make individual videos public or private from the My Videos list or the player — keep your favourites in the feed, hide the takes you'd rather not share.
- Refreshed the empty My Videos screen with a friendlier layout and a quick "Start your first challenge" button to jump straight into the action.
- Swipe a video left in My Videos to reveal a Delete action — a quick confirmation prompt prevents accidents.
