I tried to turn it on, but it does not switch to Dark at all. ### 3/5 — Great, But Repetitive *2026-08-24, version 5.23.1* DT has been ‘my’ paper since I was 10 or so. Hence the move to online was always going to happen. Still enjoy the ‘paper’ but a couple of observations - some headlines are increasingly sensational, and articles are repeated, sometimes two or three times, as one scrolls down the page. Please bring it back! Hardly any books, esp novels, are now reviewed. Newspapers are read by readers. Kicks you out of an article back to the main page while reading. Sometimes just doesn’t load at all (white page). Now I cannot access anything other than your highly irritating advert wanting me to sign up for something I don’t want. Each time I try the ‘back’ arrow or try other options, the Ad slides straight back on screen. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling and that achieves nothing. This happens on all my devices, despite all being updated. What’s gone wrong. UPDATE. I got in touch with online chat and Connor resolved the issue in 10 minutes. Seems for reasons unknown the Telegraph changed my email address somehow and I could no longer log in with the one I had registered. Clicking on headlines take you to the article momentarily and then returns to front page - very frustrating. App update fixed temporarily but issue returned again now - not sure if it’s a caching issue?? WHY NOT? ### 3/5 — Autoplay video *2026-08-02, version 5.23.1* There’s no way to stop news or advert video from Autoplaying. Extremely irritating to the point I make a mental note to never have anything to do with unstoppable ad video company’s. Reading the news is why I installed the app in the first place, so the unstoppable news clips are just an annoyance. 5 stars for the app if these vids can be definitively stopped. A work around is to uninstall the app and instead visit the web page and login, then a selection of adblock extensions remove these annoyances. Update Aug 2nd 2026 - video ads and alleged news video still autoplaying… ### 2/5 — Useless pop-ups! *2026-08-01, version 5.23.1* Why do you serve popup windows at the bottom of the screen that can not be closed? ### 4/5 — A Sneak Peek at England *2026-07-30, version 5.23.1* It’s 2:30 AM New York time and I’m taking a quick look at events across the pond. The Telegraph offers vignettes of Britain struggling with unaccustomed hot weather with Doctors not allowed to use air conditioning to take blood samples. I would think that there would be exceptions from any ban where health and safety are involved. But sadly, not. I study online with courses offered by Cambridge University and the Telegraph helps me keep in touch with some of my classmates. ### 1/5 — Worst paper to subscribe to *2026-07-27, version 5.23.1* Once in a way whenever I try to use my subscription and try to read the paper, after logging in via the app, it always takes me on to ‘The Telegraph’s’ ‘ premium puzzles screen with only these two options 1. Free for 3 months and then £29.99 per month 2. Claim your offer. Cancel anytime. 3. Need to restore an app purchase? Click here When I use the 3rd option it cycles me right back to this screen. Already wasted too much time trying to resolve this issue. When I tried to cancel the subscription online I got the message that I have to actually make a phone call to The Telegraph UK and ask their call handler to cancel it. Well I tried that only to be told I cannot cancel the subscription online or by calling The Telegraph. Now apparently I have to call up Apple and request them to cancel it. I going to do that now. Only noticed a couple of months later that my bank was being charged. The thick broadsheet was far too heavy to lug around, especially at the pay rates paid in those days.
