### 4/5 — Not a fan of the update

*2026-03-19, version 2.5.1*

Love the app. But don't like that you can't scroll through all the database. Means you need to remember the name

### 4/5 — Good but could be better

*2025-12-17, version 2.5.1*

Overall, I have found the app pretty easy to use if you know what you’re looking for. A feature that I feel would be very beneficial is to allow filtering of the entire database without searching anything. For instance, I click or tap the word safe and it shows all items tagged as safe. Same for moderate, avoid, and each of the other categories you can filter your searches with. It would just be nice to see what else is out there that I might not know about. Thank you for making this database.

### 4/5 — Update ruined it

*2025-11-02, version 2.5.1*

Since the update you can no longer scroll you have to enter the name which is pants

### 4/5 — Good but don’t sure on update

*2025-10-20, version 2.5.1*

It would normally be 5 stars but the update seems to have removed the option to scroll through plants without searching a name first. This helped a lot for finding ideas of new things to try but now I can only search plants I already know and can’t look through a glossary.

### 4/5 — Add a search feature

*2025-06-10, version 2.2.0*

Unless I just can’t figure it out, it would be great to have a feature that would let me search for a particular plant or species to find it in the data base.

### 3/5 — Please add a bread feature

*2024-12-21, version 2.2.0*

This app would be amazing if we were able to filter by what type of tortoise each person owns as a lot eat different items and are not allowed to have others.

### 4/5 — Suggestion

*2024-11-24, version 2.2.0*

Love this app. I use the picture this app to check plants and then this to see if my tortoise can eat it. What would be really useful if you can order the list by plants they can eat, so when planning what plants to grow in my garden it is easy to choose rather than scrolling through a big list. Would happily pay for more features.

### 4/5 — Review for tortoise app

*2024-09-22, version 2.2.0*

I like it but the only problem is that it only has certain foods

### 4/5 — Basic but helpful

*2024-07-19, version 2.2.0*

I use this app for my bearded dragon (95% same dietary list as a tortoise). It's a functional app without bells and whistles, and geared a little heavily toward the idea that its users have some knowledge of binomial names and plant families. However, the search bar makes this easier to navigate as you can just search for "potato" and it will pop up. Speaking of the search button, the color and placement are super badly placed and hard to spot. (Developers: just move it to the bottom left of the screen! Color it blue! Something!)

A huge feature would be to allow users to organize their Favorites into Good / Sometimes / Never tabs so they don't all run together for endless scrolling.

Another feature, a slightly bigger one, would be to allow users to mark entries. This could be a written notes ("Prefers flowers, not leaves"), the ability to star/highlight an entry (animal's favorite foods), and grey out an entry (disliked foods).

This would make the app both an ID and a management tool for users. I think it has great potential to do this, and I think many animal owners would be willing to pay for this feature.

### 4/5 — Wide range but room to improve

*2024-01-02, version 2.2.0*

There is a huge variety of plants listed with descriptions of why they have been given certain safety ratings.

It would be really cool if there was a more in-depth options. Specifically for the different types of tortoise. Or at least something to choose between a fruit-eating tortoise diet or not.

Overall the app does a good job at its main purpose and is a user friendly interface but it would be nice to have a larger range of features at some point in the future. Also there are no in app purchases which is a big plus

### 3/5 — Search

*2023-06-27, version 2.2.0*

Overall great app but it needs a search tool. I should not have to scroll through hundreds of items to find ( or not find) a plant

### 4/5 — Great

*2023-04-05, version 2.2.0*

The is an awesome app. I have 2 Sulcata tortoises and it’s really helpful with all the plants going into stores. I wish there was a search button so I didn’t just have to scroll. Also if you could add or make on for other reptiles like bearded dragon or snake would be cool too!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Older version was better

*2026-03-11, version 2.5.1*

As a new tortoise owner, it was very much better to look at the pictures of plants as I do not know the names of them especially wildflowers and weed. if there was an option to just choose green flagged plants, it might help.

### 1/5 — Search 👀

*2026-02-08, version 2.5.1*

I thought it would let me upload a pic of the weed so that I could find out the name of it & check it was safe for my tortoise. If I knew the name of the weed I could look it up on Google & wouldn’t need the app.

### 1/5 — not what i thought

*2025-10-27, version 2.5.1*

i would prefer an app where you take the photo and then it marks if it's safe, i find trying to get the name of the weed is the hard part.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2023-11-21*

No search and not enough information and did not let you know in app purchases

### 1/5 — Primrose

*2023-06-25, version 2.2.0*

It's hard to trust an app when their website says primrose is safe to safe to feed our tortious... but the app says it's not safe to feed our tortious.

### 2/5 — App has changed

*2025-10-05, version 2.5.1*

I much preferred the old layout where you could scroll down the lists and see which plants were edible and which not at a glance per section. Now you can only see when you specifically search for a plant’s name.

### 2/5 — Review

*2023-08-01, version 2.2.0*

Very disappointing the search bar does not work. It type some thing and nothing ever comes back even with flowers that are there just a check it always draws a blank which the creators would address this.

### 3/5 — It isn’t still compatible with iPhone 5s...

*2026-03-23, version 2.5.3*

Make compatibility with iOS 12 and also(hopefully) watchOS. Thanks!

### 3/5 — No list on homepage

*2026-03-14, version 2.5.1*

I’m really disappointed that there is no list of plants on the homepage any more, so you can scroll through to identify a plant without knowing the name of it.
There is only the option of typing a name which is only helpful if you know the plants name!!!
It would be extremely helpful if there was the option of taking a photo of a plant that the app could then identify as this would save time…
App developers - please take these reviews seriously and see things from a tortoise owners perspective…

### 3/5 — Where has the scroll gone?

*2026-02-13, version 2.5.1*

Sadly it seems the option to scroll through plants has been removed. This was an amazing learning tool and very sadly missed :(

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Where has the scroll gone?

*2026-03-24, version 2.5.3*

Sadly it seems the option to scroll through plants has been removed. This was an amazing learning tool and very sadly missed. UPDATE 24/03/26
Thank you for listening to the reviews, very happy to have the option to scroll through all listed plants reinstated, and very impressed to receive that information direct from the developer. Review updated to the 5* it deserves. Well done!

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-03-22, version 2.5.3*

Perfect for tortoise owners!

### 5/5 — Species (breed) is not needed to use this app.

*2025-04-14, version 2.2.0*

The tortoise table is good to use for ALL tortoises, no matter what species you have. If you open an entry of any colour but not RED it will be ok to feed as part of a mixed diet, that includes ALL tortoises. If you open the Lawn Grass entry it will state that it is ok for the grazing species (including Sulcata) and it will not harm other species.

### 5/5 — fun and educational

*2025-03-23, version 2.2.0*

i have a tortoise and this app has made foraging for weeds fun.

### 5/5 — Very handy multi functional app

*2025-02-16, version 2.2.0*

Very substantial database! Yes maybe it’s hard for some to navigate due to having to have some basic knowledge of the item you a searching for but the search feature makes basic use (which is what 80% of people need) very accessible. Also a great resource for determining what to use in a bio active enclosure.

### 5/5 — Just an idea

*2024-06-28, version 2.2.0*

Brilliant app! However I can help but think you should collaborate with the picture this app so we can just take a picture of a plant/weed and it instantly tells us if is safe on not :) it would be so helpful because I’m using one app to identify the plant then this one to check

### 5/5 — Very informative

*2024-06-06, version 2.2.0*

I only discovered this app last year and find it excellent. Huge spread of plants mentioned. A big Thank you to the compilers.
My only disappointment is that I have been unable to get the Tortoise Table Booklets.

### 5/5 — Top App for Tortoise people

*2023-06-17*

Great information - would be good to be able suggest additions / edits as not all keepers are in the UK

### 5/5 — Amazing app! So helpful!

*2021-09-06, version 2.0.2*

The tortoise table app has been so helpful for creating a varied diet for my tortoise! Especially when redesigning his outdoor enclosure! With this app I have been able to create a varied and colourful enclosure that is completely safe! 100% recommend to any tortoise keepers!

### 5/5 — An essential app for a tortoise owner

*2021-08-27, version 2.0.2*

Since the latest update the the app, it has become even more useful and easy to navigate. Must have app if you have a tortoise!
