### 2/5 — Painful

*2026-02-02, version 7.0*

This app is very unreliable. I’ve used it for a few years now, but it goes down so often and when you try to log onto the website when the app goes down, it says too many requests because everybody’s business relies on being able to pull their clients workouts up. And when you send a msg, they say it’s maintenance but they
never tell you that it’s going to be down for maintenance

### 4/5 — Great for customizing details of the program

*2025-03-03, version 7.0*

I chose The Training Notebook because I love that in the workout program when I write the description of the program there is enough space for me to leave notes on things I want the client to remember like TRX row, keep wrists straight, and get steeper if you want to make it harder. I love that my clients have their own app to see all the programs they have ever done! I like that I can also email the program to the client. I also like how I can have all the clients info in one place like their body composition, etc. I wish they didn't add the link for attaching videos. Since they don't provide the videos yet my new clients will ask where the videos are.

### 5/5 — Great app for those trainers who want to be creative in n programming

*2023-07-13*

I have been using this app for over 9 years now! The best feature for me is the ability to write down exercises vs pull down from selected exercises. I like being able to write detailed names and create exercises that might not show in pre selected choices. I also love the simplicity of the app. I don’t need nutrition software or scheduling software, etc. This app does exactly what I am looking for. It does sometimes malfunction but a simple delete and reload usually does the trick. Also, whenever C I have any problems the customer service gets right back to me.

### 5/5 — Efficient Personal Training with App

*2023-04-29*

As a personal trainer, I have tried several apps in the past, but The Training Notebook app has exceeded my expectations. I love that the app allows me to take before and after photos of my clients, which helps them see their progress and stay motivated. The app's user-friendly interface makes it easy for me to create and customize workout plans, track progress, and communicate with clients.

One of the app's standout features is the ability to switch between multiple languages, which has been incredibly helpful for me as I work with clients from diverse backgrounds. The app is also regularly updated with new features and improvements, making it a reliable tool for personal trainers.

Overall, I highly recommend The Training Notebook app to any personal trainer looking for an all-in-one solution for managing their clients' fitness goals.

### 4/5 — Experience

*2023-04-18, version 6.7*

What a great app, felt this helped me look professional when it came to doing consultations with prospective clients. Didn't use all the functions in the app so can't comment about all but think it would have helped a lot more if I had the the to learn it.

### 5/5 — Thanks for building this app

*2023-02-28, version 6.7*

The app makes it simple to track progress, set goals, and communicate with clients.

programing has been so much easier with the training notebook… I program while I’m commuting to the city or while I’m on break and drinking a cup of coffee.

It's been game-changer for my business, and my clients are seeing incredible results too

### 5/5 — I’m loving it!! 🤓

*2023-02-28, version 6.7*

I love using The Training Notebook for my personal training business!

It's so much easier to track my clients' progress and customize their workouts. The app has a sleek design, and it's very user-friendly. It's definitely worth the investment!

Plus I love that all my clients get a free app too

### 5/5 — This app has simplified my business

*2023-01-27, version 6.7*

I personally found the Training Notebook app to be a helpful tool for tracking my progress and staying organized during my training sessions. The interface is intuitive and makes it easy to input and track a variety of exercises and metrics. The goal tracking feature is particularly useful for staying motivated and on track. The customizable workout templates allow for creating personalized plans that suit my needs. Overall, I found it to be a valuable addition to my training routine.

### 1/5 — Paid for in 1st release now have to subcribe

*2020-11-16, version 6.4.2*

Been a personal trainer 10 years plus, Paid for this app on release many years ago, but due to the developers greed I now have to subscribe and pay to use something that was already paid for at £15 which is exspensive for an app and I have my own app on the app store, the original was working for me. Emailed the developer and the response was a excuse and offered no solution. Sorry but judging also from the other comments I will be deleting this app, other apps now offer more for free and the customer service is a poor, It's a shame as this could of been something.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2020-11-11, version 6.4.2*

I haven’t been able to use this as it constantly crashes upon opening it. Crashes before able to login.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-03-31, version 7.0*

I downloaded the app, entered one client profile, but the main Menu button isn’t registering so I’m stuck unable to use the app. While entering a client profile, there were several other buttons that didn’t work too.

### 1/5 — Deleting clients

*2025-11-10, version 7.0*

The app deleted all my clients, and didn’t load them back up. I logged out, logged back in and started creating new profiles but now the app is asking me to upgrade to paid subscription which I’m already paying for at $16 monthly. I’m upset at the lack of response, the issues and setback it has caused me. I have emailed a few times with zero response from your team.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2025-08-18, version 7.0*

Just got it and tried using it: loading a booking for a client. I couldn’t input workout name and program goal which is ok as I don’t care about these but it is compulsory to load it otherwise it won’t save the booking. So I tried, however the app was not responding in these fields so I can’t even do this basic thing! I’m way to busy to waste time like this

### 1/5 — Paid for this app but doesn’t work

*2024-01-02, version 6.9*

Says my trial is over but I paid for this app. It’s ok I just share how to track clients a better way and give out for free to lessen the amount of people getting this app. You pay for an app but then it says you have to subscribe or subscription trial is over.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2022-05-13, version 6.6*

I try to log in using my Apple ID and after my facial recognition it just goes back to the sign in page. Does nothing. This is on my iPad.

I use my iPhone and i finally can log in but when trying to “add new exercise” it says to click that button. That button is NOT clickable. So I cannot do anything with this app.

### 1/5 — Could of been great

*2022-03-12, version 6.5.5*

Once the update was done and you had to start paying, you then had to transfer clients data/photos/measurements to the update. I then lost over 15 years worth if client data!

It kept crashing and when finally sorted, all I got was a sorry and you can have some free months as compensation (why would I of continued using it?!). Could if been great, avoid - you have been warned.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2021-09-04, version 6.5.4*

Do not get this app. I purchased a package and I have not been able to use the features promised on the app for months. I’ve reached out to these scum bags over customer service and still haven’t gotten a response back. Also when I try to take off my card from the the subscription the app closes out on me every time. Haven’t been able to take off my card from the subscription so I had to call my bank to stop the payments going forward as well as get my money back. App is a scam.

### 1/5 — Charged around $500 in a month

*2021-07-14, version 6.5.3*

I have been using this software for a year & half. With the recent update, I have had extreme amounts of money pulled out of my account. I’m headed to the bank today to cancel my debit card into try to put a stop to the recent withdraw that’s over $100. I will no longer be using this software and highly recommend no one else does either now. My recent experience has completely overshadowed any good I may have had with them.

### 1/5 — Worst personal training app

*2021-07-14, version 6.5.3*

I have been using this app for about a year now. I have had issues with them multiple times. First, I upgraded my account to unlimited after having 10 clients on the app, and they continued to double charge me for months until I emailed their customer service to find out what was going on. The app is constantly crashing and within the app, workouts will get messed up (my sets will go to rest time, the exercise name will go to the reps category) so I constantly have to re-type all components of the exercise. It is so frustrating. On top of that, after the last update, the main client page has a gray trash can next to it and I accidentally clicked it which then deleted all of my workouts from 6 months of training a client. When I contacted them, they simply told me there is nothing they can do for me. There are free apps that are a lot more user friendly and have better customer service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

### 1/5 — Double charges and non refund policy

*2021-03-16, version 6.4.3*

I have been a customer for about 7 years. I purchased the app when it was a low one time fee and really enjoyed the basic functions.

Later, they instituted a monthly/annual subscription fee. It was significantly higher than the monthly fee. As a loyal and satisfied user at the time, I went ahead and signed up. They changed it so that all of your client data and workouts are on their servers and can only be accessed while your subscription is active and while you have internet access. By itself this is only a minor inconvenience and an understandable business practice, however for the 3 years or so that I continued to use the app, they had frequent server downtime. It was always without warning. When this happened at the start of a work day, I would have to wing it for all of my client’s workouts when they were conditioned to expecting a pre-planned workout.

There have also been many bugs since the format changed, including the workout being rearranged every time you change screens and loss of client data. When I changed platforms, I saved a lot of time because I didn’t realize how much time I was losing from the bugs.

To their credit, Hector personally wrote an apology email when I wrote that I was double charged an entire year subscription during one of their planned/unwarned server outages. I tried to give the app a little longer hoping they would smooth things out.

I was forced to switch to another service at the start of the pandemic because of the bugs and inefficiency. I checked my subscription list and The Training Notebook wasn’t listed anymore. One year later I was charged again, within the week I emailed them to tell them to cancel my account. I asked for a refund because I had not used the app in almost an entire year. They cited their reason for not giving the refund as “services consumed during that period.” I didn’t log in at all and I sent my first email the same day the charge posted to my credit card. Maybe not illegal, but generally unethical. I will dispute the charge with my credit card issuer.

I’ve been using this app for over 10 years, and it has been absolutely amazing. I honestly don’t know how I’d run my business without it. It’s an essential part of my daily workflow. The ability to calculate assessments, track health evaluations, and manage client workouts—all in one place—makes it incredibly valuable. It’s 100% worth the investment.

### 5/5 — Less busywork, more time on growing my business

*2025-03-27*

I’ve been a trainer for over a decade, mostly working with busy professionals here in Chicago. I’ve been using The Training Notebook for the last three years, and honestly, it’s the only system I’ve stuck with. It just works. I train most of my clients in person at a private gym, but I also coach a few online across the countryand this app keeps everything organized on both ends.

Programming is fast, tracking is simple, and I don’t waste time digging through spreadsheets or clunky software. I really like the workout templates too it makes it easy to save my go to programs and copy them into a new client’s plan in seconds.

It helps me stay focused on my clients instead of getting lost in admin work.

### 5/5 — Excellent app+ time saver!

*2025-03-27, version 7.0*

I’ve been a personal trainer for five years, and I work mostly online with clients around the country. I usually do my programming from a local coffee shop here in Texas, so having something that’s easy to use on my laptop and phone is key. I’ve tried other apps, but they were either way too complicated or just overpriced. I’ve been using The Training Notebook for six months now, and it’s honestly been a game changer. The calendar helps me stay on top of everyone’s workouts and check-ins, and the in-app messaging makes it easy to keep in touch with clients without jumping between platforms. It’s affordable, clean, and actually built for how real trainers work.

### 5/5 — Been using it for years

*2025-03-23, version 7.0*

I’ve been using The Training Notebook for a few years now, and it’s been super helpful.

I can build full workouts in under a minute, duplicate them for other clients, and track everything without digging through old notes.

My favorite part? I can send workouts straight to the client app, and all the progress pics, notes, and assessments are right there in the app.

It’s clean, simple, and saves me time. If you’re a trainer working with a solid roster, this app’s for you.

The Training Notebook app has been a fantastic asset for managing my personal training business. It's specifically built for trainers, simplifying the often tedious administrative tasks so I can focus more on my clients and less on paperwork.

I appreciate how intuitive the interface is, making it effortless to customize training plans, conduct unlimited body assessments, and track detailed client progress all in one centralized place. The app also provides Physical Readiness Questionnaires (PAR-Q), ensuring I keep my clients safe and ready for their workouts.

One standout feature is the companion "Client Notebook" app that my clients can access for free, allowing them to monitor their own progress, stay motivated, and maintain open communication through built-in messaging. The built-in interval timer is another thoughtful feature, further streamlining training sessions.

Overall, The Training Notebook is ideal for trainers looking to enhance client experience, organize their workload effectively, and grow their business efficiently. I highly recommend this app for fitness professionals aiming for top-notch organization and productivity.
