I’ve been loyal to this company for years and have resubscribed. It still won’t let me view any news - just takes me back to the screen to “restore purchase”. If this isn’t fixed within the week, I’m going to delete WSJ and move on to some other news source. ### 2/5 — Fixes needed *2026-08-05, version 15.6.0* Love the WSJ., but please fix the audio player for articles!The first 10 seconds it reads some miscellaneous info about the article which can be skipped — and it doesn’t even pronounce things like “WSJ.Magazine” right, which it should. And second, you can’t even exit the app or lock your iphone while listening to an article. This is very unfortunate ### 2/5 — Popup ads? I’m already paying! *2026-08-02, version 15.6.0* Not sure why I get popup ads in the middle of articles now. Quite annoying. The app is also laggy, which is silly, since all it needs to do is display text. The new format took away the ability to easily navigate to the next clue, and replaced it with a clunky interface with small arrows requiring very precise touch points. Also allow the iPad native keyboard to be utilized. It is cumbersome to have to use a WSJ developed keyboard just to complete the crossword. Also, all crosswords now display “play” with no indication on “completed.” Please put back the completed denotation. Thank you. ### 2/5 — Unable to post comments to articles using the mobile app *2026-07-12, version 15.4.1* "The Internet connection appears to be offline." Yet I am able to read the articles. The keyboard is not ergonomic on iPad, clues bizarrely jump around when inputting letters and the clue being answered no longer appears as a separate line. I don’t know if they’re doing it intentionally to force you to look at ads, but I can’t get through a single article without it hanging up. I’ve tried over and over on multiple devices. It takes me to the Safari browser, I select my account, it signs in and stays on a blank page. It doesn’t take me back to the app, and the app stays signed out. Half the articles only showed an error message that I needed to have internet access. A far superior download capability was eliminated when the WSJ app was overhauled a couple of years ago. Please bring back that full function. But now if you stay to listen to an article (read by AI) the article will stop if you lock the screen. Even without sound, for over a year, the auto play has been pausing whatever I'm listening to in the background automatically. One of the few outlets that seems to have found a way report the news, verify sources, and callout both left and right extremism. Opinion pieces are present, but clearly called out as such.
