## What is The Weather Nut?

Dave Hayes The Weather Nut is the greater western Massachusetts’ regional weather reporter, storyteller, meteorology enthusiast, and concerned eye that’s always looking into his digital weather periscope, always scanning our regional skies looking for incoming storms and changes. Dave keeps his community alert and informed in order to help optimize life planning and to help protect life and property.

FEATURES
GET TIMELY, HELPFUL, HYPERLOCAL WEATHER REPORTS
The Weather Nut posts daily morning weather discussions with zone-based summaries, celestial information, and graphics in an easy-to-read format. Dave built his reputation and audience through his written telling of our local weather story without flashy studio graphics, videos or animations, and he loves to educate on all things weather.

DAVE HAYES MAKES COMPLEX WEATHER FUN AND UNDERSTANDABLE
The atmosphere is a very complicated place, but Dave enjoys writing about why the weather is doing what it’s doing, to help educate folks and also to take some of the fear and anxiety out of incoming conditions by explaining the “why” behind “what” our weather is expected to do.

GET LOCAL CONDITIONS AT A GLANCE FOR YOUR TOWN
By tapping on your town name at the top of the screen, you can quickly display an at-a-glance summary of basic weather conditions to give you an idea if it’s cold, cool, warm, or hot, or if it’s windy or humid to get you up to speed fast.

EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE FOR THE GREATER WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS REGION
Dave focuses only on western Massachusetts, and the counties adjacent to the WMass region in VT, NH, MA and CT. This hyperlocal focus is what has endeared fans to Dave’s work, because he’s not trying to be all things to all people. Instead, he’s a community-centered guy that likes to focus on and help his neighbors in WMass, CMass, northern CT, southern VT and southwest NH.

WEATHER UPDATES ORGANIZED BY URGENCY AND IMPACT LEVEL
You’ll get 3 levels of weather reports, organized by impacts and urgency. Dave’s Daily Report (published in the morning), and his Weather Nut Updates are generally low impact alerts. His Active Storm Coverage alerts are a step up indicating active weather that’s ongoing. And his Strong Weather Alerts and Active NWS Notices mean it’s time to really pay attention with strong to possibly severe weather incoming.

GET TIMELY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALERTS FOR YOUR ZONE
Dave has interfaced with the National Weather Service to format and pull certain salient weather alerts into a red bar near the top of the screen that becomes activated when alerts are posted by NWS. Simply tap on the red bar to open up the full alert. Normally, you can also expect a related update from Dave with a bit of additional insight and more details to keep you in the know.

The Weather Nut mobile weather app was born from a sincere desire to connect more directly with Dave’s audience (which has grown to around 75,000 regional neighbors on social media), and to continue to help keep his growing audience updated without the increasing constraints of “Big Algorithm”.

Dave has won The Valley Advocate’s Best Local Meteorologist category for 11 years in a row and is dedicated to producing timely, helpful, hyperlocal, and hype-free weather reporting for his beloved greater WMass region (which is comprised of western MA, central MA, southern VT, southwest NH and northern CT).
