### 4/5 — Magazine is great, app is definitely getting better.

*2026-06-03*

I was a print subscriber for many years and then transferred to the app. The app has had multiple problems, some of which pushed me to the point of cancelling. I’m glad now that I hung in there, despite the poor experience and lack of support. First of all, it’s great to see that work is being done to improve the app and recent changes have on the whole been great. I too experienced the problem of not being able to figure out how to “read” the magazine after the recent “listen” function was replaced. I did manage to figure this out myself after a frustrating morning of trial and error. Perhaps a little more information or support options could be provided within the settings after future updates? I’d love to see more options in settings anyway, to be able to save the way I want the magazine pages to be displayed to me and how I would like to flick through the articles. It’s also about time that you provided the option to do both the crossword and the sudoku puzzles electronically within the app. Please keep up the good work and if possible speed up the improvements, you’re not far away from a great app.

### 2/5 — Great Magazine. Atrocious app

*2026-03-17, version 5.14*

Such a shame that the app virtually renders the digital version unreadable. Please, please look at the competition- especially the times and make individual articles readable and scrollable. This is just a scan of the paper edition and a pretty poor scan at that!

### 3/5 — Other fonts please

*2026-02-05, version 5.14*

Good app although choice of fonts that are easier to read would be helpful - particularly open dyslexic.

### 2/5 — Impossible to access

*2026-01-29, version 5.14*

I love the content but the online version is impossible to access. I keep losing access and can’t get back in. Password reset emails don’t arrive, no obvious way to contact.

### 4/5 — Great Magazine. App still has issues however.

*2026-01-16, version 5.14*

Still a few bugs

### 3/5 — Great Magazine. App still has issues however.

*2026-01-13, version 5.14*

Still a few bugs - progress bar at the bottom doesn’t move/app sometimes hangs when scrolling/audio sometimes doesn’t play the page I’m on.

### 4/5 — Poor customer service

*2025-11-29, version 5.14*

I really like The Week, with it’s objectivity, detail and broad reporting. However I appear to have been cancelled whilst still taking a payment from me. Emails to customer service are getting an unsatisfactory response. Contemplating cancelling as I can buy the paper in a shop and the inconvenience of chasing them is more than I can be bothered with.

### 4/5 — The Week

*2025-10-16, version 5.9*

Briefly, I thoroughly enjoy the read, but find there is too much American content.

### 2/5 — Great content, app has some annoyances

*2025-06-15, version 5.9*

If you like the content as I do, you’ll be able to deal with the app annoyances as it’s generally “mostly fine” day to day. Also, a lot of the reviews here apparently don’t know how to tap an article to read it… However these issues do exist and can be frustrating when they do inevitably pop up:

- Offline downloads aren’t offline-first. If you have a slither of data it will try to either download the magazine fresh or do some kind of online check, meaning you’re sat looking at a blank screen for an issue you manually downloaded 5 minutes ago.

- The login system is bonkers. You now have three separate logins (The Week website, mymagazine.co.uk, and then the app using some kind of order number). In theory this should only be annoying once, but if, as I did, you get logged out of the app for some reason, finding which of the multiple ID numbers you need to use to get back in is a monumental waste of time. At the time of writing I’ve had to open a support ticket to figure this out, and I’m hardly a technophobe. This sounds like a small thing, but at the moment I cannot access the subscription I’ve paid for, so the star rating reflects that.

I’m glad that they’ve not created an app with a tonne of pointless features, it’s simple and when things are working as expected it’s great, but just fix the offline feature and the login flow and it would be perfect.

### 4/5 — Good but glitchy

*2025-05-29, version 5.9*

When moving the app to background and then back to foreground, swiping between pages sometimes gets stuck. It would also be good to know which issues are downloaded for offline reading.

### 3/5 — Backwards

*2024-10-26, version 5.8*

I miss the 10 things you need to know. Not the flaccid round up.

### 3/5 — Improvements

*2024-07-07, version 5.6*

Regarding the magazine, the app could provide the same reading experience as MoneyWeek with text and images, but it currently only offers a PDF format. This means users have to zoom in to read the content, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, the app includes a podcast option, but it lacks support for background playing. This means that switching to another app or turning off the device while listening isn't possible, as the phone must remain unlocked on the app, consuming the battery.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can't read it.

*2026-03-16, version 5.14*

Not an easy read.

### 1/5 — Typos galore

*2026-01-12, version 5.14*

Surely not only typos, but the first 2026 edition had serious sentence structure errors, which are unacceptable today, unless of course one blames AI, which I suspect is the case.
Pages freeze unless you’re in advert mode - clever forced viewing.

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2025-12-26, version 5.14*

I have subscribed but every time I try to read The Week online it just tries to sell me another subscription. I have signed in and done all that I am requested to do but to no avail.

### 1/5 — Great read, appalling app

*2025-05-29, version 5.9*

Relies on constant connection and keeps ‘forgetting’ downloads when out of signal (planes, travelling, in houses with bad wifi). Totally stupid in 2025 and especially frustrating given the quality of the magazine

### 1/5 — Latest app unstable

*2025-05-22, version 5.9*

The latest iteration is hardly an improvement. Freezes up mid magazine, returning to the start. Typos - why are there typos in this day and age? Font and format changes between articles, whilst not a major issue, does also suggest there’s no adult in charge of quality control.

### 1/5 — Update going backwards..

*2025-05-17, version 5.9*

New app is really glitchy and bad! Please revert

### 1/5 — New format

*2025-05-17, version 5.9*

Is awful

### 1/5 — Hard to read on iPhone

*2025-02-14, version 5.8*

I used to have this app and it worked fine. You could select content from a menu and the views were properly optimised for phones. Now it reads like a pdf of the magazine. It’s hard to find content and not what id expect from a paid app.

### 1/5 — Changing text size has no effect so the magazine is very hard to read on all my devices

*2024-08-31, version 5.8*

Might cancel.

### 1/5 — Good content, shame about the app

*2024-04-08, version 5.6*

I’ve been a subscriber for many years and have valued having access to the clear, user friendly app - easy to read, interactive crossword, click-through links. But then one day for no obvious reason the format changed, to a lazy PDF version of the magazine. Print is small, links don’t work, crossword has to be printed out to complete it, full of ads… it’s a really retrograde step. And phone calls to The Week got the response ‘that’s the way it is now’. So I’m unsubscribing.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Listen!

*2026-04-07, version 5.14*

‘Listen’

I noticed that the ‘listen’ button was back this morning. Thank you! 🙂 Much appreciated.

### 5/5 — Feedback

*2026-03-12, version 5.14*

Excellent objective feedback - refreshing for gaining a fuller perspective.

### 5/5 — Excellent publication.

*2025-12-03, version 5.14*

A great succinct unbiased and reasonably priced review of world news.

### 5/5 — Essential reading

*2025-06-19, version 5.9*

Love The Week and the latest app release is excellent. Much improved navigation and handy to be able to listen to articles.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2025-05-18*

Love the week- diverse opinions. Great .

### 5/5 — Charles Girling MBE

*2024-11-12, version 5.8*

I do appreciate the Week. I am sorry though that you no longer sum up with the mist important things you need to know each day.

### 5/5 — Why is the Week so good an editorial

*2024-09-25, version 5.8*

When time is short and the prospect of seeking out a balance of news, a Challenge …. The Week hits the spot and has a succinct way of delivery.

### 5/5 — Superb publication

*2024-08-23, version 5.8*

Provides a synthesis of all the latest news that matters, complete with erudite commentary and amusing observations.

### 5/5 — Great content and good app (now!)

*2024-06-02, version 5.6*

The content has always been excellent. The app is now improved. You can view it in a magazine format (like a pdf). If you then tap on an article you can read it in a mobile friendly format. Tap the icon at the bottom of the page and you go back to the pdf style. The best of both worlds…

### 5/5 — A Great weekly treat

*2024-03-30, version 5.6*

The WEEK is an extremely informative, wide ranging, well balanced publication which keeps one aware of the international news reports. My one huge disappointment is that following the death of the polymath Scottish artist, writer and painter John Byrne, there appeared to be not a single mention of this great man in your paper.
