En revanche il n’y a aucun intérêt à nous faire errer dans ce décors sans vie. Je passe beaucoup trop de temps à chercher et en plus la maniabilité est médiocre aussi bien en tactile qu’avec une manette. Les énigmes à base de reflets lumineux sont un calvaire car il faut se placer à un endroit qu’on met des heures à trouver pour avoir le bon point de vue. Le principe est sympa, mais une fois qu’on l’a compris, où est le fun de nous faire galérer à ce point pour trouver le bon spot ? Les seuls éléments « narratifs » sont des bouts de conférences philosophiques, pas inintéressants en soi, mais bon sang que c’est lourd ! C’est pas un jeu ce truc, on ne s’amuse pas, on ne se divertit pas. Je trouve que le gars qui a pensé ce « jeu » se prend trop au sérieux et passe à côté de quelque chose de l’ordre de la joie. Même la bande son (pas de musique) est sinistre. It is an achievement in gaming and all involved should be proud. However, for me, in addition to joy and admiration for the game quality, there was a lot of frustration with this game. Unclear rules, sometimes tricky navigation, puzzles that were bordering on... cruel. If you love puzzle games, this is the ultimate test and worth your time. If you want a puzzle game that is fun and doesn't make you work *too hard*, this might not be for you. Tap-to-walk is the dumbest idea ever, it's uncomfortable, unintuitive, just bad. And no option for a virtual joystick, which is the way this game was intended to be played. And this game also depends heavily on micro movements, because you often have to take the right perspective to see the solution. Tap-to-walk makes it painful, you'll have to turn your camera away from the puzzle, then guess the right spot to move your character to, then turn back and check if that worked. Whereas with proper controls it'd simply require you to move the joystick. And A LOT of times the game would't recognize properly where you've tried to put the cursor, setting it somewhere on the background and making your character run completely different way. This makes simple things like getting up the ladder enraging. As of now this is unplayable, no way someone would enjoy the game like this. It feels like you're trying to play it with each one of your fingers broken. Rarity and value vary proportionately. If something is obtained easily, it is cheap, worthless. This is why there is a certain appeal regarding enigmatic or inscrutable art. The Witness is a hidden gem, a work of great love and passion concealed, but not fully, in the noise of the gaming industry. It reminds me so much of the Myst series that first made me fall in love with the puzzle adventure genre, and yet it is an improvement in every way. Puzzles within puzzles, secrets within secrets, and all of it beautiful no matter from what angle it is viewed. I am playing through the entire game again after 7 years to catch all of the secrets I missed the first time around.
