Too many adds spoil the view as they interfere to much

### 4/5 — Basic but reliable newspaper app

*2022-01-04*

I didn’t expect anything fancy from this app - it does extra what it says. I find it easy to navigate on my iPad*. The only comparison I have is the Guardian which, to my mind, has gone too far in the other direction and is a proper pain to read.

The content of the YP doesn’t change and is hardly representative of the majority of Yorkshire folk. I don’t agree with much of the content of editorial comments or opinion pieces but there is a consistency to the reporting and I can work with that.

* a simple but useful improvement might be to have the options to (a) have new editions downloaded automatically and (b) editions that have been read to de deleted automatically.

### 3/5 — OK app, but could be much better

*2021-03-26*

I like to read the YP every day, but I don’t much like using this app. The main section hasn’t been adapted to a tablet format, need to scroll and zoom to read.

Would also appreciate being able to complete crosswords on the app.

Why does it require you to login every couple of weeks?

Developer could learn a lot from The Times/Sunday Times app, which is much more user friendly.

### 3/5 — Reasonable but room to improve

*2020-05-09*

The basics are here. High quality scans of each days paper. But it is seriously lacking compared to say The Times. The paper isn’t formatted for digital reading, you have to scroll and zoom rather than clicking out articles and images, it’s all a bit basic. You also can’t interact with puzzles, or delete the piles of old issues it down loads.
Basically just pdfs. Usable, but not all that great really. Please try to copy The Times app as it is really good functionality wise.

### 3/5 — Opinion pieces are not backed up by facts

*2020-04-10*

Tried to support the YP but in the three days I have trialled a membership two articles were published as opinion pieces. One was rubbishing the UN and the WHO based on unsupported statements and an earlier one on the lockdown being phoney had multiple examples of unsupported statements and no links to the source of the information. Disappointed as I had hoped for better.

### 3/5 — Puzzles

*2019-10-23*

I do find it disappointing that I can no longer do the crossword puzzles on line. I used to enter the competitions when we bought the paper. I do hope that in the future technology will move on and make this possible.
I do enjoy reading the articles in the paper particularly Tom Richmond and Christa Ackroyd. I also enjoy the regional articles.
Does the paper have a spell checker? Sometimes there are spelling errors in headlines.
However I do enjoy the paper and reading about Yorkshire.

Zena Taylor.

### 3/5 — Problem with app

*2019-08-25*

Why are the reviews at least 2 months out of date something to hide?
Why should I pay for a paper I can’t read!!!

### 3/5 — Not the full picture

*2019-05-30*

When app was purchased it stated interactive not true.
I subscribe to The Guardian and crosswords and that is interactive.
Sports section did not update which seems to go against Live
Hopefully it will improve

### 5/5 — Roll out of new App

*2019-05-03*

You should ask your customers what they want!
Big Backward step,
not intuitive!
All historical down loads gone. No tutorial!
Great paper let down by your tech people. I can’t imagine the cost of this upgrade how will it pay for itself! It won’t attract a
Single customer no one will be talking positively about how amazing it is.
Sad I have to write this about such a great paper.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are continuing to improve the app over the coming weeks and will take your feedback on board.

### 3/5 — BRILLIANT APP - TWO BIG PROBLEMS ! ! !

*2017-02-05*

(1) PITY YOU NEED TO DELETE THIS APP EVERY FEW WEEKS TO FREE UP SPACE by
getting rid of accumulated old issues.
(2) YAWN YAWN - Still unable to complete
crosswords and sudoku using the App.
Excellent app makes full use of the iPads incredible retina display and zoom facilities.
The ability to see full pages - just as the printed paper - make this App the best that I have seen - allowing you to browse through each edition and then easily pick out & read the items that are of particular interest.
The one improvement I would like to see (for *****) would be the ability to complete sudoku & crossword puzzles within the app.
The Daily Telegraph App does this very well.
p.s. It's a pity the rest of the DT App is completely fails to make
such good use of the iPads retina display and zoom facilities.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Was.a good newspaper, once …

*2025-06-17*

Thought it was a morning newspaper …
That would show the results from the night before. Some hope!
Now the YP is a byword for poor reporting and cutting costs. Well if it gets any worse, it will be me cutting costs - mine when I cancel my subs.

### 1/5 — Poor.

*2024-12-17, version 3.6*

No comparison with telegraph. Notice no subs for print only. Obvious why.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2024-01-20, version 3.3*

Lack of Football results and reports in the next days edition

### 1/5 — Unable to open puzzles

*2022-06-06*

Very poor app. I have downloaded this to my iPad from the App Store but am unable to open puzzles and there are issues dating back to last Feb still on. In a word it’s crap. I had it on my iPad using the m/soft edge browser and it worked Ok. Come on YP, get your finger out and fix it.

### 1/5 — Very difficult

*2020-05-05, version 2.3*

I find I cannot get the Yorkshire Post on my iPad! I have had a hard copy for years, but during lockdown, I want it digitally. Seems an impossible thing to do!

### 1/5 — PDF are you joking??

*2020-02-11, version 2.3*

If this is a digital Newspaper then there is no future for Digital. What a joke.

### 1/5 — Not able to download since Friday . August bank holiday weekend

*2019-08-26, version 2.3*

Please sort this out. I suppose all the staff are on holiday for Bank holiday. If it’s not sorted today I’ll be cancelling my subscription and claim a refund.
Is anybody else having a problem

### 1/5 — New app

*2019-05-04, version 2.3*

This new app was supposed to be an improvement it’s far from that it’s rubbish

### 1/5 — Absolutely rubbish

*2019-01-05*

Supplements constantly missing. If they are there usually unreadable as they are loaded in wrong way to view..... ie loaded as landscape and should be portrait.
Support/feedback link doesn’t work !!!! so it takes forever to get things put right.

### 1/5 — What is happening with the update?

*2016-01-24, version 2.1*

First it didn't work, then it did, now it's not working. So frustrating...
30/12/15 - continuing saga it's still not loading. Please can I have access to version 2.0? At least that worked.
23/01/16: got it sussed, you have to hold the iPad in portrait for the app to open. Then you can turn it to landscape to read.

### 5/5 — A great paper

*2022-11-06*

So glad I moved to Yorkshire - not least because I can now read the YP! A great paper in every way. Really helped me to feel part of this great county.

### 5/5 — Totally over complicated

*2022-03-19*

The original app was simple and logical. This version is totally over complicated.

I hate the two page presentation and I hate the supplements shown separately.

The only improvement is the todays news section which loads quicker and is better laid out but perhaps we could actually have todays news rather than a rehash of the main edition?

### 5/5 — DigitalYP.

*2021-01-23, version 2.4*

Excellent and easy to use. Real pity the crosswords aren’t interactive!

### 5/5 — Lovely to read and support a local paper

*2020-09-23*

I am so pleased to be able to buy an electronic version of my favourite local paper and be able to support its existence in such a way. Some subscribers complain about not being able to click on articles to expand them: I actually love the way this electronic version feels. Flicking through the pages is like flicking through the paper - I feel like I’m turning the pages. It’s reliable and quick. Thank you Yorkshire Post.

### 5/5 — Love it in print and app

*2020-09-15, version 2.4*

Really impressed with the app, easy to use and very good value!

### 5/5 — Yorkshire Post

*2020-04-05*

A lovely read, especially the Saturday. Highly recommended. The Magazine has full weekly TV guide too.

### 5/5 — For everyone

*2020-04-04*

Beautifully presented version of the best “regional” paper around and you don’t even have to live in Yorkshire to enjoy it. Far superior to most “nationals”.

### 5/5 — Excellent value.

*2019-10-10*

Takes a balanced view, and is a great advocate for pushing the aspirations, needs and desires of the Yorkshire region. Keep up the good work👍

### 5/5 — New online editions

*2019-05-11*

Not happy with the new format of YP on the app. It’s not as user friendly as the previous format which was straight forward to use.
Why change it?

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are continuing to improve the app over the coming weeks and will take your feedback on board.
