I purchased this to work with students who struggle with regulation. They were disappointed that they could basically just run in circles. Once they got to the “Stop, Opt, Go” I thought there would be more things for them to do. This game is similar to 2 Zones of Regulation lessons. I think the developers should add more faces and emotions in the Match the Face game because the same things occur over and over and it can be boring, but other than that, this is a great app. ### 3/5 — It's okay *2019-11-15* I like the concept of having a game. It makes it so easy for me to introduce zones in an engaging way, but I wish it was less like trivia. I wish it would explain why the questions were wrong, or at least allow us to see the question to see what we did wrong. Or even tell us the right answer. I feel like kids can't really learn unless they know what they did wrong. I'm also disappointed in the tools part of the application. It doesn't allow you to skip tools. One tool is "jump on trampoline", but a client who is incapable of walking wouldn't be able to do that. Someone who doesn't have access to a trampoline wouldn't be able to engage in that tool either. Also, if the tool wouldn't help, then why are you making students put it in their toolbox? The zones and the toolboxes are supposed to be tailored to the individual. ### 3/5 — Makes Me Relaxed *2019-05-31* This is a great game for kids with autism and other anger issues but the game lasts 15 minutes then your wonderful Zone of Regulation lesson is over but still it’s good in other ways! ### 4/5 — Zones of regulation *2019-01-25, version 1.3.5* In this app^ I can’t get past stop, opt, and go level. I have been able to use this app to teach the zones to some of my middle schoolers. I wouldn't recommend for younger students or those with literacy concerns. I would like to see data that the app takes as far as getting the questions correct and tools selected. ### 2/5 — Has Potential But... *2015-12-28* I am a school psychologist and have been using this app for a year or so. I have recently gotten the newest iPad mini and now the audio in the app no longer works, making it much less engaging. Some other suggestions: corrective feedback when a child chooses the incorrect answer. Also, many of the prompts are very wordy and I often need to read promts aloud and clarify. Lastly, to promote further engagement and learning opportunities from this app (as the Zones is a great program), please continue to expand the app with new levels, activities, etc. ### 3/5 — No Audio *2015-06-20, version 1.3.1* So... This would be a decent app if it had audio... Without it, it's frankly overpriced. It's frustrating that my five year old wants to play/learn but I have to slow him down and keep him from clicking through because he is unable to read and I have to read every single prompt... Please add audio for the younger kids using this curriculum ### 3/5 — Wish there was the option of having the instructions read by Ap *2015-06-08* Sometimes this could be a useful tool for children to teach and help regulate at the same time if it was able to be done independently by younger children or children without strong reading skills. I often will introduce the Ap and then have children who struggle with reading request to do it independently; it loses all value at this point. With ability to have the student listen to instructions, this Ap would have 5 stars in my mind. ### 2/5 — Should have more *2015-04-13* For the price, this should have more options. Once in the zone, the user reads a quiz like question around that zone such as, "Which feeling is not in the green zone, sad, frustrated, content." Kids need to be able to read the prompts. My issue is not so much with the reading requirement but with the app's lack of responsive teaching. If I got it wrong, how come?? My 10 year old has Inattentive ADHD with emotional regulation difficulties, so i thought this would be a good supplement to what he is learning through the program at his OT's. WRONG. Both my 7 & 10 year olds finished the "game" in less than an hour. i couldn't believe it, so i played it. 1st, let's be clear, This wasn't really a game, as much a tutorial where you walk your character to various points and answer situational ?'s to get coins. The coins can be used to buy badges, but don't really do anything. My daughter thought the graphics were creepy, my son said the characters looked weird, and both asked if there were zombies hidden in the town! My son completed it, and achievements were not exciting enough to continue to relearn the lessons. Would not recommend. Not sure what age level this is targeted given the language and reading skills needed to answer the ?'s unassisted, but this is lame even by a 7 year olds standards. A simpler, less graphic heavy & more engaging game, with more levels would be more effective than the current incarnation. ### 1/5 — Poorly executed ... *2013-04-28* I like the Zones of Regulation book / materials and was really hopeful that this app would compare but it doesn't . The app has a lot of text without voiceover - this is unfortunate as many students who would use this program have limited literacy skills. The new match the face game simply says "Game Over" if you make the wrong selection, and made me want to toss my iPad across the room. Nothing like an app that PUTS you in the red zone?! The fact you cannot access the sidewalk and buildings or the little skateboard on the sidewalk is infuriating to any kids I have shown this to, Not to mention, from a generalization perspective - should we really be running on the road? The games pace is slow. There is text about what the feelings are at each level but no instruction on the behavioural description of each feeling (e.g., I am in the red zone when I am angry. I know I am angry because my shoulders are tight, I feel like screaming, and I cannot loosen my fists.) I am hopeful with further updates this app gets way better as it is such a let down to the program and makes sense as a modality for the types of learners who often get taught the Zones program. It is really engaging and even my own typical developing kids want play it on on their own. I have loved the discussions it has prompted and how it has held the attention of some very challenging clients. They want to continue exploring and playing the games. It has been fun too to play with small groups. Graphics were some of the best I've seen on any game, i think it could even beat out the graphics on PAC-MAN Also, the charecters are 10/10 and really achived that "I'm going to pee my pants in 30 seconds" look Althogh, my charecter seemed HORRIBLY DISSAPOINTED when she COULDN'T WALK ON SIDEWALKS!!!! It explains about different zones for different emotions, what triggers them and how to get back to green. It is fun, the background music is relaxing and the extra games are good.
