Not sure why they don’t update the app to fix this problem. ### 1/5 — Would’ve gave it zero stars *2023-09-10, version 2.15.7* The most inaccurate app I have ever used. The location is never current, it says my vehicles last known location is from 2 months ago. ### 1/5 — Started off good… not working any more *2023-07-26, version 2.15.7* I purchased this with my car purchase. Initially, it worked great. No issues really and then had a problem with the device syncing with the system. So I called up Theft Patrol customer service and they promptly reset the device, problem solved. Another year goes by and now the device is not registering activity in the car. I’ve sent email and called several times. This last time I finally spoke to someone who couldn’t see an issue on their end and were going to escalate the issue up and run diagnostics. Said they would call me back… but that still hasn’t happened. This issue has been going on since March 2023 and now in July 2023, still without a fix and no responsiveness from Theft Patrol. I would definitely reconsider on customer service alone. If there are no issue with the product, then you will be fine. But tech will always have issues and support will be needed. Spend your money on a different company. ### 1/5 — Very bad reliability *2023-05-31, version 2.15.7* The latest issue is that it Dddn’t show anything for my long weekend driving. In the app it looked like my car was parked at home all three days yet I drove dozens of miles to different destinations on each one of three days. When I complained about this previously, the Company said “it is working properly”, but the device is not doing what it is supposed to do as stated on their own website. I checked reviews for similar devices and they all suffer firm the same issue - poor reliability. My guess would be that their cell network access is deprioritized, so they do not work on certain days and times. Very upsetting that the company can do nothing to get this item to provide the service that they promise on their website. ### 1/5 — robe *2023-02-19, version 2.15.7* I have tried reaching out to support multiple times and they do not respond. It was mandatory in the city of long beach. I opted in to keep it & let me tell you ITS COMPLETELY GARBAGE. The app itself is accurate. HOWEVER if your vehicle is broken into, you won’t know. If the alarm goes off for whatever reason, you won’t know. If you are towed, you won’t know. The location is 9/10 accurate but when towed it WILL NOT register its location until the vehicle is turned on. WASTE OF MONEY ### 1/5 — Absolutely Worthless *2022-05-23, version 2.14.2* It was already installed on my car by the dealer. Despite what they tell you, you will NOT save on your insurance. Nothing but trouble before it stopped working altogether. I gave it a one star because they do not offer a lower rating. For days at a time it has shown the location of my pickup off by 80 miles or more. In Arizona, most pickup thefts end up heading to Mexico via backcountry dirt roads where there is no cell coverage. GO TO A REPUTABLE DEALER. ### 1/5 — Theft Patrol device on new vehicle *2024-09-12, version 2.15.10* Purchased a new car from a major Toyota dealer and the sales person notified me of the theft patrol device that was already installed and just needed activation. I was sold to the idea and activated it. Worked ok for a week or two and died. Called support and was fixed after few days. This device failed too many times, took me almost a year until it was doing ok. You never know when it works or when it doesn’t. Too many false notifications, way too many freezes, fails almost once a month and when I call support it gets fixed for another 2 weeks or so. The device was replaced many times, the location was changed few times. They should change the name because it doesn’t do what its designed to do. CANNOT BE TRUSTED AT ALL. Right now it’s frozen after the last fix that was few days ago! I’m totally fed up, will cancel the so called “protection plan”. Meanwhile I’ve installed another device and it works perfect, had it for almost one year, very accurate and always trusted. Optimus tracking device for $45 from Amazon and annual monitoring fee . Theft Patrol is a good concept when it works. Just for FYI. ### 5/5 — Consumer Grade Vehicle Tracking *2019-08-19* I’ll be honest here, I am not expecting TheftPatrol or any other similar subscriptions to do what consumers see in the movies; as in milliseconds or even microseconds notifications from vehicle movement. I don’t know how much delay there is as other factors such as sky conditions (clear vs cloudy) affects the processing of information. After all, this subscription and the device it is utilizing is using GPS where a cloudy sky means a degradation on the results. Don’t know the error margin or the accuracy; like if the results are +/- 2 percent or whatever it is. Notifications on my iPhone 7 pops up after some time around 2 to 10 minutes after vehicle movement. For around 3 months of use. I am satisfied so far. I may update this review some time later. ### 5/5 — Works Great *2019-08-05, version 2.7.0* It came pre installed in my Nissan Rogue Sport. After a few months it did stop updating. I contacted them & they had someone come to my home to repair it. Said who ever installed it, had it piggy back on another fuse. Since then (6 months now), I have had no problems. ### 5/5 — Awesome recovery system and tracker for my teen *2019-05-08* I had my car stolen and had it recovered with 3 hours with Theft Patrol, I would highly recommend the device. Not only does it act as a stolen vehicle recovery system but I can use it to track my Teenage driver. It has speed alerts, curfew settings, geo fence ability and a bunch of other stuff that made me more comfortable letting my son take the car out alone.
