## What is theplace?

Somewhere between the last time you checked your phone and the next time you will, something is happening near you. A show in a room you've never been in. A market on a Saturday morning. A pickup game, an art opening, a concert in a parking lot.

theplace is a local events feed built to get you off your phone, not deeper into it.

How it works Open the app and see what's happening near you, sorted by distance and time — not by what an algorithm thinks will keep you scrolling. Save the ones you care about to Places. Turn on notifications and we'll tell you when something you saved is about to start, or if it changes.

Real events, human-vetted Every event on theplace is submitted by the person or organization running it — a venue, a promoter, a community group — and reviewed before it goes live. Got a flyer? Point your camera at it and theplace pulls out the date, time, and address for you.

What we don't do No ads. No third-party trackers. No selling your data. No algorithm ranking events by what keeps you engaged instead of what's actually good. We're supported by local sponsors and organizations who believe an informed city is a better one — not by advertisers trying to hold your attention.

Event times now always display correctly for the event's own location — no more confusion browsing events outside your current time zone.

Added a reminder with one-tap renewal when one of your recurring event series is running low, so it doesn't quietly stop appearing.

Fixed an issue where renewing a recurring series could submit it to the wrong region.

Added a quick in-app fix for a stuck feed load — no need to force-quit and reopen the app.
