I am unable to load the daily news no matter what I try. If I look at the previous news, it only shows August 3 as the most recent previous news. I will be unsubscribing. ### 2/5 — Glitch *2026-08-14, version 3.2.8* This is not the first time the app has glitched so that nothing loads—just a blank screen. I absolutely LOVE theSkimm when it’s working. ### 2/5 — Disappointing app experience *2026-08-07, version 3.2.8* I’ve been really frustrated with the app lately. The daily newsletters tend to load really slowly making you think there’s a glitch. But now, they aren’t loading at all. I resorted to reading the news a day late by clicking “past skimms” but now even the older ones aren’t loading. I am a subscriber. The app is up to date. Why can’t I read the daily news? So frustrating. ### 2/5 — Never works *2026-07-24, version 3.2.8* This app never works when I need it to. I always get a message that it is prior to 6:20am ET, even when it’s noon. Then unable to access newsletters, which is the only reason I use the app. ### 2/5 — “Sports calendar” = NWSL calendar *2026-04-18, version 3.2.7* Written in 2026: I started my Skimm subscription in 2016. I like the Skimm, I like what they provide, but I especially loved their calendar feature. I really enjoyed syncing my calendar with big events that are happening, movie releases, or other random things the Skimm added. One of their calendars focused on big things in the sports world. They described it as having events such as the Super Bowl or the start of a league’s season. Then new for 2026, they started including every NWSL game. Not just the start of the season, or the debut game for inaugural teams, but every game every week. It’s exhausting. It floods the calendar with events that do not align with what they advertise. I did not pay for a NWSL calendar. I subscribed because I wanted to hear when things like when the NWSL season started, not when Orlando plays Louisville week 5 of the season. I first brought this to customer service, but it’s clear they did not care. There’s no way to opt out of this; if you want to know when big things are happening in the world of sports, the Skimm will also ensure you know when EVERY SINGLE NWSL game is. It’s too bad that after 10 years, this is what made me cancel my subscription. ### 2/5 — Calendar Emojis *2025-07-15, version 3.2.5* I love the skimm and have been a subscriber of the newsletter for a long time. I bought the subscription primarily for the calendar. I loved how it had all the upcoming relevant events coming up but I loved that it also had fun emojis to go with it.. they’ve been gone awhile with just the descriptions. It’s a small ask but hoping you see this and bring back the calendar emojis please 😊 ### 3/5 — Daily Skimm access inconsistent *2025-06-20, version 3.2.3* I’ve been a longtime Skimm reader (started back when they celebrated all Skimmers’ birthdays!). I’m a huge fan of the content covered and the way it’s covered. What is frustrating is that the app is inconsistent with having Read the Daily Skimm available. The Today tab has Recommendations and For You, but not the daily Skimm, which is what I predominantly use the app for. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled and it’s still not there (June 20, 2025 for example). Please fix. ### 3/5 — App Crashing *2025-04-01, version 3.2.2* I love the app. I’ve been using it for a few years now and I love the way. The information is presented. I love the different options for the links or even viewing different items for purchasing or even the books to read recently. I’ve noticed that the app will crash when I try to read theSkimm for I will try to go through the link in my email and and because I have the app, it will redirect me to the app, but it was still crash I have updated the app deleted the app and re-downloaded it and it is still having this issue. I would love to continue using this app and helpful resource, but the crashing is becoming inconvenient ### 2/5 — Navigation isnt functional *2025-02-05, version 3.2.0* I was super excited for this app but all of the icons on the main page that link out to the categories for other articles are stagnant, they don’t actually click through. Super annoying. Feels like a bug but I’ve waited a few weeks and still no update. ### 1/5 — Not Working *2025-02-04, version 3.2.0* I LOVE the Skimm, but I have not been able to read the news from the app in a week. I’ve emailed the problem, but I’m still not getting any news on the app. ### 1/5 — App Not Working *2025-01-25, version 3.2.0* I recently found theSkimm and downloaded the app about a month ago. It has caused me nothing but headaches. Certain pages of the app will not work for me. Sometimes my Daily Skimm will not even show up on my main page. Really upsetting that I paid for this and it’s been extremely difficult to use. ### 1/5 — I LOVE THE SKIMM, BUT APP IS TRASH *2025-01-18, version 3.2.0* I have subscribed yearly to the Skimm for years and have loved it so much. I love the witty way they deliver the news, and most of all I love the calendar syncing for important events right into my own personal calendar. BUT RECENTLY THE APP WONT SYNC WITH MY APPLE CALENDAR FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AT A TIME. What’s up with that!? The customer service to help me fix this has been awful, and now the app is closing on me every time I click the daily Skimm. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!? I love the Skimm and don’t want to stop using it, but the app is unusable for me currently and I’m paying money for it. I love the calendar and how it kept me up-to-date on current events. However, it’s no longer compatible with Apple’s new operating system and nobody seems to respond about a fix. ### 1/5 — Calendar Sync to Phone Doesn’t Work *2024-02-04, version 3.1.9* This app has so many errors. I try to sync it with my calendar on iPhone multiple times and it doesn’t work. None of the support articles help. I’ve had the subscription for probably four years and the calendar worked for maybe a half of one year. I love theSkimm but the app needs a lot of work. ### 4/5 — Ideal with one caveat *2023-12-28, version 3.1.9* This app is wonderful for getting the news without unintentional exposure to traumatic images, video or triggering headlines. As a therapist I recommend it with clients struggling with the weight of news and social media. My only complaint is that while I fully support staff taking holidays off, you still are paying the monthly subscription no matter what. The app straight up does not work to read the daily Skimm which is the main point of the entire brand. You can read yesterday’s, only the next day. It’s been like this for some time with no mention of working on this or anything. It’s honestly bizarre. But the entire point of this brand was to keep you in the know every morning— so forcing me to read things a day later is completely bonkers. Sad, I really loved the Skimm when it worked. ### 1/5 — Nothing works *2026-08-18, version 3.2.8* I would love to be able to use this app, but I can’t. I wanted this to help clean up my email inbox from all of The Skimm newsletters I get and read them all in one place. But the app doesn’t work. The Daily Skimm doesn’t open, it’s just a blank screen, and the past issues link opens to mid-July issues (it’s now mid-August). I just signed up for a paid monthly subscription thinking maybe I needed to upgrade to get access (even though I know it’s worked before just fine) but maybe I missed something and I really do enjoy reading the Daily Skimm and the other newsletters so I figured why not. But no. Nothing works. The Top Stories link doesn’t load anything either. It just spins. Also, and this has been a gripe for a while, why do the Skimm stories link to a browser version? I understand linking to outside stories but ones written by The Skimm, why can’t they be integrated into the app so that you’re not loading a screen on top of another screen? Seems like it defeats the purpose of having an app if I could go straight to the website to see the same thing. Not as convenient but at least that site works. I’m sad. It seems like there’s no desire for developers to keep this app updated or make it a more seamless experience. Canceling the subscription I just paid for and I’ll just go back to reading the newsletters in my email. ### 1/5 — Unusable *2026-07-15, version 3.2.8* No matter the time of day it just says “oops. You’re up earlier than we are. Alarms set for 6:20 ET. Try again in a few minutes.” I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and nothing fixed it. ### 1/5 — Used to be good *2026-01-29, version 3.2.6* Nothing but bugs. Paid features are not updating anymore. The calendar feature is rarely working or kept up to date. Super disappointed. ### 1/5 — Endless bugs *2025-11-16, version 3.2.6* This app malfunctions constantly. Sometimes you can find the daily skimm where it’s supposed to be and other times you can’t. Sometimes you can find it elsewhere sometimes you can’t. Sometimes the home page gets stuck for days on same ad. Sometimes app flat out won’t open and sometimes there’s this glitch where some letters are symbols and the whole thing is illegible. That’s just everything that is wrong with the app itself. The newsletter used to be amazing; however, has turned almost entirely into a list of affiliate links it’s all about ad revenue now and no longer provides the substance it once did. ### 1/5 — App keeps crashing *2025-06-24, version 3.2.3* Loved the Skimm but it’s been like a week of the app crashing immediately when trying to open. Today is Saturday and the current article is behind a paywall. This is really unpleasant because I can’t even tell if this is a bug or on purpose. Every old article is now behind a paywall. No news is completely opinion free, but I appreciate that everything is shortened, and to the point. Providing links to recourses they use, and having more in-depth explanations for certain topics that are coming up more often. Out of all the news outlets I’ve used before, theSkimm has definitely become my favorite. ### 5/5 — Annoying alerts in middle of the night - resolved! *2022-02-07, version 3.0* Thanks to Alex from theSkimm for a speedy reply with how to resolve this issue. No more audible alerts in the middle of the night. Solution was to toggle off event alerts in theSkimm calendar. Prior review: I’ve been subscribing to this service for a couple years - liked the content. Then the Olympics started and alerts have begun in the middle of the night. I can’t turn on do not disturb on my phone as I’m on call for my job. This app should be timezone aware and not stick things on your calendar in the middle of the night. ### 5/5 — Absolutely love it *2021-11-19, version 2.32* Love The Skimm!! The Skimm gives you all the content you need to stay on top of adulthood without it feeling like a chore.
