I love the retro graphics etc, but the story is just boring and nonsensical. Hard mode is very hard, mainly because things you tried previously that didn’t work, all of a sudden work later on, but you didn’t think to try them again because earlier it didn’t work! Without spoiling it, the ending is just odd and very unsatisfying. So many loose ends are never explained. Took me 16 hours to complete with hints. But i just got bored the longer it went on. The locations were all a bit too similar. The characters weren’t great either, although i did enjoy the clown. There are much better point and click games available on iOS. I’d recommend this only to long term fans of the genre, especially fans of the original Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion games. There are lots of easter eggs for those games throughout. ### 3/5 — Spiel stürzt ständig ab *2026-05-14* Thimbleweed Park ist einfach genial. Wer in den 90ern die Adventures von LucasArts geliebt hat wie z.B. Monkey Island, wird dieses Meisterwerk von Ron Gilbert ebenfalls lieben! Allerdings kann ich auf meinem iPad 7. Generation seit iOS 18 es nicht mehr spielen. Entweder es stürzt sofort ab, wenn ich ein neues Spiel beginnen will oder es hängt nach ein paar Sekunden und stürzt dann ab. Das hatte ich mit iOS 16 zumindest nicht. Hab das zwei Mal ohne jegliche Probleme damals durch spielen können. Schade. Great adventure, game love the pixels reminds me of the 90s games. I used to play when I was younger good storyline lots of things to figure out great puzzles good storyline I love the characters. I also like the fact that you had to play all five characters and sometimes you needed more than one character to figure things out. I got stumped a few times trying to figure out what to do next which I love when the game is hard to play. With 2 modes of difficulty(Highly suggest the more difficult of the two)and tons of fantastic retro story telling with modern pixelated graphics that smack you in the face with joy if you enjoyed the old Lucasfilm games. Excellent puzzles. Some of them were frustrating with how simple the answer is so I suggest exhausting options before choosing to use a hint which are free to use at any point in the game. This game rocked ! And I had to write a review after completing it for the first time( because yes I intend to collect every last pixelated dust!) and say Ty by leaving a generous review.Cannot wait for the Delores sequel to come to IOs! It’s not Monkey Island, but it has the same wit and charm. Great game. ### 4/5 — Great Concept, With a Few Missed Oppurtunities *2023-05-22, version 1.0.2* All of the elements that could have made Thimbleweed Park an excellent game were there. I loved the idea of a seemingly normal game that begins to devolve as the characters realize [spoiler], but poor pacing and mismatched plot elements caused it to fall slightly short of what it could have been. The transition from the murder plot to the reality-bending one could have been done better with a group shock moment, but instead the story slowly slides away from that plot line. Despite the use of chapters, there still were very few defining moments that broke up the first 2/3 into plot elements, as that part was more of a series of puzzles. The execution of the ending could have been better, because the maniacal computers felt cheesy. Seeing the characters find the secret on their own would have been more interesting, especially because by the time of the big reveal, the player probably has read the journals and figured it out. Robots and ghosts coexisting felt off to me as well. Finally, each character having their own ending made the finale feel anticlimactic. Despite these criticisms, this was still an enjoyable game with an engaging storyline. I would definitely recommend it to serious point-and-click fans, especially if they grew up during the 80s. ### 5/5 — Amazing - OBSESSED *2023-05-10, version 1.0.2* I am always checking to see if more games have come from this designer, I love this game and think about it all the time. Definitely not worth the price tag ### 1/5 — Major usability issue *2017-10-04* Many of the controls are much too small to tap precisely on an iPhone, even the ones that you have to use frequently, such as selecting a line of dialog. If you accidentally select a line of dialog you’ve already done (happens literally about 1 in 3 times for me), you often have to listen to the same piece of conversation you just heard, and it can be 20-30 seconds. It’s slow, unskippable, and it makes the humour seem tedious. Nice artwork and atmosphere though. Just disappointed as this game cost £9.99. **Developer response:** Hello, sorry to hear that you've been struggling with the dialog selection. The dialog options can be selected more easily when you tap & hold, move your finger over the dialog option you want to select, and then release the finger (you don't have to hold it over the text, as the whole dialog line is interactive). Also, dialog can be skipped by the two-finger swipe gesture. You can view these tips when you go to Help -> Touch Tips (in the main menu). I hope this helps! It would be 6 stars but there are two show stoppers. On any iPad with 3GB ram it crashes all the time. And even when I got a new iPad the saves are locked to the device. Some of my earliest gaming memories were playing adventure / games my dad bought me like the King Quest series & Day of the Tentacle, This game has some serious nostalgia, great pixel art, and funny voice acting. It’s full of Easter eggs and nods to games that us “30 somethings” played in our youth. It also has an easy mode for adventure game noobs (that I haven’t tried) and has a unique hint system that doesn’t totally spoil the puzzles if your stuck. I highly recommend purchasing this game. It’s extremely well polished & at $9.99 its a steal for the amount of game you get.
