—Wirecutter, The New York Times

KEY FEATURES

• Your To-Dos
Your basic building block is the almighty To-Do—each a small step toward a great accomplishment. You can add notes, tag it, schedule it, and break it down into smaller steps.

• Your Projects
Create a Project for any big goal, then add the to-dos to reach it. Use headings to structure your list as you outline your plan. There’s also a place to jot down your notes, and a deadline to keep you on schedule.

• Your Areas
Create an Area for each sphere of your life, such as Work, Family, Finance, and so on. This keeps everything neatly organized, and helps you see the big picture as you set your plans in motion.

• Your Plan
Everything on your schedule is neatly laid out in the Today and Upcoming lists, which show your to-dos and calendar events. Each morning, see what you planned for Today and decide what you want to do. The rest is down to you :)

• Markdown — structure & style your notes.
• And much more!

MADE FOR IPHONE

Things is tailored to the iPhone with deep system integrations as well. A great example is the Share extension, which allows you to create to-dos with content from other apps, such as a link to a website you want to get back to.

You can also enjoy a beautiful dark mode at sunset, connect your calendars, add a variety of widgets, create to-dos via Siri, import from Reminders—Things can do it all! There’s even Shortcuts integration if you want to automate your workflows.

MADE FOR APPLE WATCH

Things comes with a great app for Apple Watch. Just raise your wrist to glance at your Today list, mark to-dos complete as you go, and dictate new ones on the fly—all synced instantly with your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

AWARD-WINNING DESIGN

Made in Stuttgart, with two Apple Design Awards to its name, Things is a fine example of German engineering: designed not only to look fantastic, but to be perfectly functional as well. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, then polished to perfection.

“It’s like the unicorn of productivity tools: deep enough for serious work, surprisingly easy to use, and gorgeous enough to enjoy staring at.”
—Apple

### 5/5 — The perfect productivity app

*2026-08-21, version 3.23*

I’ve been using Things 3 for years and it’s brilliant. I love how it’s calm and free of visual clutter - other to-do apps just stress me out with all the colour choices and other unnecessary things. I also love that I can view my calendar events in Things without them becoming tasks which is the perfect way to do it. This app is brilliant and the recent updates to repeating tasks are just the icing on the cake.

### 5/5 — The absolute best

*2026-08-20, version 3.23*

Have used this app for over 10 years and tried all the other to-do apps. Nothing compares to the simplicity of this one. I owe a lot of my productivity and organization to this piece of software.

Now that recurring tasks can be checked off before the due date, my life is complete. I’m not a big app reviewer but when I saw that feature included in the latest release I knew I had to write one. Thank you to the team for including that feature: that little change will make a tangible impact on my life.

### 5/5 — Absolutely perfect

*2026-08-18, version 3.22.12*

I am a picky reminders app, and this one truly is made with passion and careful thought. Much better than tick tick in functionality and purpose. Everything about it is simple and intuitive, yet powerful. The only thing I wish it had is all the AI power from the new competition and also the interface is a bit slower and less snappy than the competition.

### 5/5 — Best todos app

*2026-08-18, version 3.22.12*

This app has organised all aspects of my life for almost a decade now. It’s so powerful, with great tagging abilities and shortcuts, but also so minimalist. The pinnacle of perfect design. Well done and thank you team

### 5/5 — Never change

*2026-08-14, version 3.22.12*

Don’t break this beautiful software with anything new or experimental or trendy. I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to count on it for all these years to do what I expect it to do.

### 4/5 — I love the app... however

*2026-08-13, version 3.22.12*

I really love Things 3. I've been around the block when it comes to productivity apps, and Things simply does it best. However, I'm very disappointed on the fact it's not available on the web or other platforms. As a user who integrates both Apple and Windows into my life, I find trying to stick to Things 3 a bit of a pain. I have a macbook, I have an iPhone, however at home I use my Windows PC most of the time. Anytime I have reached out to Cultured Code, I always get the same basic and unheartfelt response 'There's no plans for that at the moment, but thanks for letting us know you like it.'

Their responses almost feel very robotic. You'll notice by going through their replies on Social Media, it's almost all the same mundane responses to people asking questions. I strongly dislike that the company behind the app does not share anything that's on the roadmap for Things. I'd sooner pay a subscription model to be able to use this on other platforms.

It's not all negative though. The app itself is beautiful. I love how they don't constantly add new features, as this could have easily ruined the app. I do however feel the app is slacking in comparison with its competitors. All I ask is PLEASE be more transparent with your service users.

### 5/5 — E2EE

*2026-08-13, version 3.22.12*

Elegant, intuitive, powerful, and always reliable.

Suggestion: I hope the developer can consider offering end to end encryption.

### 5/5 — Simple + No Subscription

*2026-08-12, version 3.22.11*

At this point, I approve the a one time cost then pay for another subscription. $10 seemed a little high, but after using it for 30 minutes you’ll understand why! Things is a very intuitive and enjoyable app to use. I just wish that the one time cost extended to the desktop application, but I understand.

### 1/5 — A great app, once….

*2026-08-08, version 3.22.11*

How are people still giving Things 4 and 5 stars? Yes, I used to LIVE by Things but it feels old now, hasn’t been updated in forever with any meaningful updates or upgrades…I used to love it but feels like they just gave up on the app….

### 5/5 — No brainer

*2026-08-06, version 3.22.11*

Downloading this app is a no-brainer if you want to get things done two steps get a methodology is step one and step two is download this app

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.23.1 — 2026-08-27

Repeating to-dos just got far more flexible, with two highly requested improvements: You can now complete them early, and easily reschedule them when plans change! Plus many more refinements throughout.

COMPLETE REPEATING TO-DOS EARLY

Sometimes you’re ahead of schedule and want to tick something off early. Now you can! A repeating to-do now shows a normal checkbox – just like any other to-do – so you can complete it as soon as it’s done.

RESCHEDULE WITH EASE

Repeating to-dos can now be rescheduled, which makes it easy to adapt when plans change. Simply bump it to a new date. If it repeats on a fixed schedule, Things will ask whether you want to make a one-time exception, or update the rule going forward. If it repeats after completion, it simply moves to the new date.

MORE REFINEMENTS

We’ve made a number of other refinements:

• The repeating to-do setup dialog has received a visual refresh, and lets you more easily pick the next recurrence date.
• A copy of a repeating to-do now shows a little gray repeat icon to distinguish it from regular to-dos.
• If you want to start working on a repeating project early, you now can! As soon as you start editing its to-dos, Things will offer to create the next copy of the project ahead of time.
• You can manually create the next copy of a repeating to-do ahead of time: expand the to-do, tap its repeat rule, then tap Create Next Copy.
• You can now pause, resume, and stop multiple repeating to-dos at once.
• Fixed a bug where enabling Mail to Things in Settings didn’t work.
• More bug fixes and improvements – see our website for the full release notes.

---

Last but not least, this update includes a big change under the hood that we’ve been working on for some time: the display and editing of to-dos – both inside lists and when you expand them – is now driven by the same code on Mac and iOS.

---

Things now requires iOS 16.4 or later, and watchOS 9.1 or later.

---

NEW IN 3.23.1

• Removed the parent list’s label from each row in the Repeating list.
• Fixed a bug where Get Info didn’t work for project headers.
• Fixed a bug where text could appear at a slightly incorrect size when using a non-default text size.
• Fixed an animation glitch that could occur when dragging and dropping on the latest OS beta.
• Fixed a minor issue with the Japanese localization.
