It’s fun like a video game but allows you to practice another language. Definitely recommend this app for all ages. It has a very immersive feel the way a child learns their first language. I liked that it was mostly audio cues but you have the option to see the it written as well. I definitely felt the language sinking in. There are two improvements that I felt could be made: 1. In my opinion, it shouldn't deduct points for repeating an audio cue. I was also confused as to why sometimes there was a point deduction and other times not. 2. Initially I felt like this was a negative but the more I think about it, the more I could see where some people would like this method. When you make a mistake,you are not shown the correct answer. I felt a bit frustrated by this but I think the idea is that you just try and clear that level again to get the 100% ### 5/5 — Think Bilingual *2015-09-26, version 2.1* This program is a language learner's dream! As a student of several European and Asian languages, I always struggled with aural comprehension. I could never get enough repetitions of a word or phrase, let alone respond to them in a real life setting. But now this program does it all. Words, phrases, and commands can be repeated infinitely, with or without the written text. Students can listen, read, and respond in virtual settings that simulate real life in ways that are fun, entertaining, and affirming. This is the way to learn a language! The current version is even better. The format is highly creative. It has excellent art work and attention grabbing and amusing cartoons and graphics. The structure involves exercises and games where the student is introduced to a basic vocabulary and then applies that vocabulary in responding to commands related to realistic everyday situations. The upshot is a format that makes learning a language fun. The exercises move in a way that makes word for word translation impossible. The student is operating and thinking in the language. The exercises become progressively more challenging without being intimidating. It is so much fun that one does not want to quit playing and learning. But the most impressive feature of the program is its flexibility. Although currently limited to use in teaching three language(English, Spanish, French), it could easily be extended to the teaching of any language. The original program is revolutionary; but this new version is even better than the original. The new added level ("Baby 2") is really cute and fun. A ton of new enhancements make the product more user friendly than the original. It's clear that direct observation of users in progress and user feedback have made an outstanding program even better. ### 5/5 — Great Idea! *2015-09-10, version 1.0* I have been using Duolingo and Memrise to teach myself Spanish. These apps have helped me understand written Spanish but my listening skills needed more help than these apps provide. This program is genius in helping the user with understanding the language as it is spoken as well as helping the learner to think in the language being learned rather than translating, which is the tendency when one is a beginner. There is one fix and two improvements I would like to see in the future; the app does occasionally crash in the higher levels for me, it's a minor issue but I hope there is a fix for that. And I would love to see more levels and languages offered in the future, a peek at the developer's website indicates that this is in the works. After sampling the app in it's first rendition, I would gladly pay for expanded levels! I am an adult over 50 in age and this is a very useful app for me but obviously this would be fun for a child who is learning a second language. I look forward to the continued development of this app. ### 5/5 — Good fun *2015-09-03, version 1.0* Easy to follow, good way to learn french. Make sure you look through the words well before each level, the games are funner that way. ### 5/5 — Clever, fun way to improve language skills *2015-08-26, version 1.0* Very cool app. This is perfect for my level because I know some Spanish vocabulary but have trouble understanding spoken Spanish. All the words come out in the context of the game so I can practice listening to normal spanish speaking. ### 5/5 — Idioma *2015-08-18, version 1.0* La primera vez que juegue el juego se me hiso muy fácil y divertido avanzar a los nuevos niveles porque se español e inglés, pero al jugar en francés se me hiso muy difícil avanzar porque nose el idioma. Siento que el juego está muy divertido y te pone a pensar mucho y a recordar los sonidos de las palabras si no sabes el lenguaje. Al jugar este juego muchas veces el usuario aprende más el lenguaje y desarrolla su mente en las escenas. Cuando mi hermana y e hermano jugaron el juego, la escenas que eran más difícil fue la del carro, porque el carro sigue manejando y a veces el usuario no tiene tiempo para racionar. Algo que me impresiono fue cuando usaron la esponja para limpiar lo sucio con el dedo meneándola esponja hacia riba y abajo para quitar la suciedad con el dedo. También cuando el juego le decía al usuario; “agarra la leche y dársela al bebe” mi hermana de seis años agarba la leche y se la daba al bebe en vez de ponerla en el círculo. Algunas sugerencias para mejor el juego es hacer más niveles con la esponja y la brocha, siento que es divertido cuando el usuario toca la pantalla con el dedo como si lo estuviera limpiando en la vida real. También sería divertido que cada vez que agarras un premio, salga una escena con el premio para felicitar al usuario. We spend a lot of time dreaming of new episodes. Sports. Soccer for sure. Swimming. Baseball? We try to learn new vocabulary at the restaurant. But we forget really fast. You’d do that so much better. How about flying a kite? You see how we keep on dreaming. Of course that isn’t altogether a good idea for our 10 year old twins. Think bilingual gives us all a break. Perhaps most importantly, the twins can see what a truly educational computer program feels like. We hate refusing all screen time; that makes us seem narrow minded. Think bilingual changes us into discriminating parents! Will this message take hold. TB gives us hope. We’re always hoping for new episodes. When they started using words that were super useful that I was unfamiliar with, I set up accounts for myself and my husband too and it’s fantastic. So many everyday used scenarios are presented in immersion. I was trying to gauge what age this app might be appropriate for. It was a perfect challenge. Really fun for any age that can read reasonably well. maybe end of first grade/beginning second to 100. Starts with some words about the house. I needed to turn on and off lights and open and close Windows and doors (by pressing them or sliding them) in the correct room and gradually more is added.
