### 2/5 — It’s okay.

*2026-08-22, version 4.31.0*

I now don’t recommend it anymore. I don’t like how the company itself is not testing everything. They use reviews of what people are saying. We don’t know all the details. The reviews then do not have the tested info. Just how many people like it. The other thing is, I want no notifications anymore. I have checked that option. But I am still getting notifications, every single day!! I certainly won’t renew. I just can’t trust the app anymore.

### 3/5 — Extremely disappointing customer service

*2026-08-18, version 4.31.0*

UPDATE:

After I pushed back on the initial decision, Think Dirty reconsidered my request, made an exception, and issued me a full refund. I have now received the money back.

I genuinely appreciate that they listened to my concerns and ultimately made the situation right. I am leaving my original review below because it accurately reflects my experience and the frustration that led me to write it, but I also think it is only fair to update my review and acknowledge that the company ultimately resolved the issue.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I’m incredibly disappointed with how Think Dirty handled my subscription renewal. My annual subscription renewed for approximately $40, and I contacted them less than 24 hours after the renewal to request cancellation and a refund.

They ultimately refused to refund me because their policy requires cancellation before the renewal date.

What makes this especially frustrating is that Think Dirty acknowledged that my original message was forwarded internally and “slipped through” on their end, resulting in me waiting nine days for a response. I was expected to be patient and understanding about their delay, yet they were unwilling to extend even a comparable amount of grace to a customer who contacted them less than 24 hours after a renewal.

I also learned through this process that they had two separate subscriptions associated with my account, an iOS subscription and a web subscription, and I had to specifically request a complete billing history to understand exactly when and how much I had been charged for each.

I understand that companies have cancellation policies. What I don’t appreciate is the complete lack of flexibility or consideration when a customer reaches out immediately after a charge, particularly while the company simultaneously asks that customer to overlook its own delay.

$40 may not be significant to this company, but it is significant to me. This experience has completely changed my opinion of Think Dirty, and I would strongly recommend that anyone considering a subscription carefully review where they are subscribed, their renewal date, and their billing history before signing up.

### 3/5 — Very Helpful Information; Request to Remove Pop Ups and Review User-Entered Errors and Duplicates

*2026-08-02, version 4.31.0*

The information on the app is super helpful for the most part; some products have duplicates or are incorrectly marked as clean due to errors by users in uploading the ingredients. App developers should have a process to rationalize this to make the search base higher quality and more trustworthy. Also EVERY TIME I open the app it prompts me with a pop up to turn on notifications, often getting in the way when I’m in a store and need to quickly scan something. Developers please turn off this pop up!

### 2/5 — Catchy name

*2026-07-14, version 4.30.0*

This app is presented as though you can walk into any store scan the barcode and get an honest review… Buyer beware!! There are surprisingly few items in any given grocery store/supermarket where people shop regularly for daily items… The idea behind this app is (I think) they want you to purchase the items that they have reviewed (from them) so they can make a profit… There are also many many many items that have not actually been reviewed and/or they actually have not been input correctly so you think they are a low number you take them home and experience allergies reactions and the unwanted side effects you are trying to avoid by purchasing and using this app in the first place...
I have reached out to them previously with inquiries but as of right now I cannot find where or how I contacted them… The growing anonymously disappearing customer service in our world ... very sad

### 1/5 — $$$

*2026-07-07, version 4.30.0*

Money is all you want. You say you can search for free but that is not the truth, keyword search is only if you pay. Don’t say it’s free when it doesn’t function without paying.

### 3/5 — Bugs need to be fixed

*2026-07-02, version 4.30.0*

Most of the products I scanned either didn’t show up or were the wrong thing. I think this is probably a new app and a lot needs to be done. But thank you for thinking about the consumers.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t unlock

*2026-06-24, version 4.30.0*

I have had this app for years. On two separate occasions I paid to upgrade but nothing changed from the free version. I was still not able to view my upgrade access. Once Apple returned my $. Now the app changed and I can’t search for free. Only scan in store. My goal is to find clean beauty products for my kids. I have moved to other apps. I don’t mind paying a fee, but not if it doesn’t work.

### 2/5 — Premium subscription sux

*2026-06-24, version 4.30.0*

I paid for the "premium" subscription with "unlimited scans" but many products are locked behind the higher tier pay wall. The limited capabilities of the "premium" tier don't justify its cost and the app is completely unusable without paying. Unsubscribed and deleted.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-06-17, version 4.30.0*

I can’t look anything up without it wanting me to upgrade. Before it did that, anything I DID look up was locked. Worthless app. Downloaded and uninstalling all in a matter of 5 minutes. Thanks for nothing.

### 1/5 — Use to be helpful

*2026-06-17, version 4.30.0*

I loved this app when I first started using it because it was an easy way for me to overhaul my beauty products for clean options. The reason I am giving it just 1 star is because they have switched to an option that will allow a person to see which products are clean only if you pay a subscription. This doesn’t make the app as user friendly as it use to be.

### 1/5 — Not great

*2026-06-14, version 4.30.0*

I downloaded and got rid of it in less than an hour. I got this app to check for ingredients in my products and you had to upgrade to do almost everything. It gave you reviews (you can get reviews pretty much anywhere, so it's not really needed for that.

### 2/5 — Waste of time unless you pay for the subscription

*2026-06-01, version 4.29.0*

This app literally does nothing for you unless you pay for the subscription. I’ve wasted too much time uploading products to get absolutely no information and the products they already have on the app tells you a bare minimum “grade” that is not informative at all. I can read ingredients myself. I had high hopes but I’m not paying for something I can research myself.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2026-08-26, version 4.32.0*

So disappointed in this app. I used to use it all the time and loved it, but then you started charging to use it! I used it for years for free! Why did you suddenly get so greedy? Not worth the money.

### 1/5 — Sell outs

*2026-08-25, version 4.32.0*

App used to be great. Now they want you to pay before helping you see what ingredients are in the product & the safety rating they give. Too bad you made these changes for the worst. We’ll find another (free) app.

### 1/5 — Have to pay

*2026-08-19, version 4.31.0*

Have to pay to view ingredients or ratings. Don’t waste your time

### 1/5 — Money grab

*2026-08-19, version 4.31.0*

If they truly cared, they would want this info in people’s hands. Now you basically can’t do anything on the free version. I wish they were smarter with how to monetize it so the average person could still benefit from this info. I’d gladly take ads versus paying such a high amount as a subscription. Typing this before deleting my app!

### 1/5 — Useless in the UK

*2026-08-17, version 4.31.0*

Many common UK products do not appear in the database. There also seems to be an agenda with selling particular brands which makes the app a little sus imo.

### 1/5 — Nothing is free anymore

*2026-08-16, version 4.31.0*

My favorite app is now FULLY behind a paywall subscription. You can search via barcode, not keywords anymore, but even doing barcode results in every useful information behind a paywall. Bro, I’m sick of this. Have to delete this now and hope to find something else.

### 1/5 — Used to be free

*2026-08-06, version 4.31.0*

This app WAS the best 5 stars! I used it every day but today it wants me to pay $9 a week!! This is absolutely ridiculous! I also noticed it doesnt have certain big names maybe they sold out or are now covering for bad companies. Will no longer be using it

### 1/5 — Used to be helpful

*2026-07-14, version 4.30.0*

App is full of junk popping up. Can’t type in to product search anymore? Deleting this app and I’ve had it for years

### 1/5 — Hard to navigate and use

*2026-07-13, version 4.30.0*

The interface and navigation of the app is very difficult to use. Slow and outdated. Stopped using it as it is so bad

### 1/5 — User-driven database, but you pay

*2026-07-09, version 4.30.0*

Was free, now they make you pay to use/search items. Why contribute when you have to pay?

Makes no sense to have to pay for access to a database whose majority of items’ ratings are user-driven. Will be using & contributing to EWG from now on.

Another “for-the-users,” “by-the-users” app bites the dust for shareholders.
