Many of these are from attending Gear Up tax conferences. I have also paid for a digital version of Checkpoint. If I launch any of the materials, the app crashes. My recent purchases just made in 2024 do not show up in the library. This is a terrible way to work, and I am spending more time trying to get this to work than I should be. ### 1/5 — Hyperlink lure to profits *2020-01-29, version 4.3.0* Thomson Reuters / West has screwed up yet another acquisition, this time, O’Connors. Throughout the commentary there are hyperlinks to rules, cases, other books. While it’s expected that such links to non-owned resources would/should cost extra, references to even the rules themselves (contained in the Appendix) do not function as makes sense. For example, a reference to rule 269b ought to merely take you directly to the rule located in the Appendix; it does not. Instead, it takes you online to link to a West resource that you must subscribe to (more money). Why would this be since the rules themselves are located within the O’Connors book?! This is nothing more than a money grab. The claimed benefit of ProView is the ability to access and search a software version of the O’Connors book. Clearly, it does not do that and is a misrepresentation of the offering. It is instead a lure to get users to subscribe to other West resources are more cost. I might as well use the physical version that doesn’t “link” either. The only value to the ProView version of O’Connor’s is that it adds no more space and weight than you iphone, ipad, or computer. DEVELOPER RESPONSE IS FALSE. While you can navigate via the table of contents to sections of the commentary, clicking on any TRCP or TRE reference is linked ONLY to online access and NOT to the Proview Appendices for these rules. To make matters worse, while the hard copy book has all rules in the Appendices, the mobile app does not and the only way to access each rule with the appendix is to go to the beginning of the rules in the appendix via the Table of Contents, then manually scroll through each page one by one. Try accessing Rule 192 this way, it takes forever! It makes use of reference to the rules worthless. Bottom line, Westlaw (Thomson Reuters) is terrible company that scams its subscribers into these O'Connors Proview subscriptions by not providing any examples or trial period. Why not? Because they know no one will subscribe to it bc of its poor functionality. Westlaw continues to bill me for this garbage and has made no attempts to resolve these problems. I will tell every lawyer I know how terrible this app is. It will be my goal to prevent any others from making the same mistake, unless and until Westlaw resolves these problems, and puts a decent customer experience over their own greed. Finally, in their Response to this review, they provide a link for further communication - haha, it does not work! Westlaw Developers are clueless. Either they don’t try their own product and links or they are part of the problem and the scam. This borders fraud. Deleted and reinstalled. For naught. *2019-11-11, version 4.3.0* OMG. So I saw the response ... reinstall. Did the developers NOT READ MY REVIEW?? Highlighted the part where I did that already and did it yet again ....waste. Of. Time. My time. I have never been get this app to work consistently for the entire time I have subscribed to the Ritter Group practice guides(about a year or more). ****Removed, reinstalled******, stood on my head, summoned the spirits from the sixth level of purgatory, spent HOURS on the phone with head-scratching CSRs and engineers who are completely dumbfounded at the fact that it crashes on opening. All. The. Time. The volumes aren’t cheap, and access SHOULD be ideal on an iPad. But no. If you were sitting in front of a judge who has the hardcopy you would never be able to work along with the judge because there are no page numbers or similar content which exists in each of the physical hard copy volumes. Will be voiding the electronic service and order the hard copy. It is very surprising that Westlaw could not figure this out on it’s own. Thank you. ### 1/5 — DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY 8/13/2019 *2019-08-14, version 4.2.0* I love Proview on the PC or using browser! However DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY on this app until the software issue is finally fixed. Years ago the app worked great until the updates. Each update has done nothing. I just reinstalled the app, just to check if the latest update worked and still the same. This time app crashes after a few seconds. Tech support is no help. Tech support will do an update then say everything works, but really they have no clue how to patch the code. The app needs to be scraped and recoded. FIX THE BUG PLEASE!!!!!!! PATCH NOW PLEASE!!!! Proview online or on your PC is awesome! The app is a nightmare. ### 1/5 — Useless *2019-06-27, version 4.2.0* This app has become useless. Have deleted and reinstalled, rebooted etc. It loads one book, then crashes, and continues to crash on opening. The only way to read a volume is to disconnect from internet (airplane mode). No longer workable. This was once a very useable app and I made purchases based on its reliability at the time. I had no contact with the developer or anyone from customer service in the interim until they wanted a star so the sent me an email. Classic. Customer Service, Thomson, is supposed to be about the customer. You just completely ignored me until you wanted something. That’s not customer service. That’s being self absorbed and self-centered. Like others, I can't log in using one pass. App keeps telling me "unsuccessful" over and over again. It is better to make sure your app works well before rolling it out. Thompson Reuters picked this time to issue an update and BAM! I can not open my reference materials because the new ProView crashes about 1.5 seconds after opening. What kind of monkeys do you guys employ to script our software? FIX IT DAMNIT! I have clients depending on me NOW, not next week or next month, but today, Feb. 21, 2018! Yes! Thank all that is good in the universe, my ProView is back to working!
