### 3/5 — I don’t get it

*2025-06-04*

I bought this app thinking that it would help me select colors for embroidery designs. I want to be able to add the recommended color from a design and find a match in thread colors I have. I guess I just don’t get it. I’ve worked with this app for several hours already, and I can’t get it to do what I want. Maybe it’s not designed to do that.

### 4/5 — Great thread library

*2024-11-05*

I like this program very much but as I have some threads inherited from a relative with very old numbers it is hard to compare a thread against your photograph. My suggestion would be that you use a photo of the skein. I find this easier to compare. As a library it is very handy when updating my inventory and I am very grateful for that

### 5/5 — Added Magna-glide bobbins

*2024-05-02, version 2.4*

Amazing customer service. I sent a request to add pre-wound bobbins (Magna-glide) and within 2 weeks they added all the magna-glide prewound bobbins, both L & M bobbins). Love this app.

### 3/5 — Nifty tool but seemingly lacks export function.

*2023-09-24*

I find this app quite handy, and having so many different brands couldn’t have been a small effort. However, it lacks a basic function that would make it really useful— there’s no way I can see to export lists in some way. Being able to export a delimited text file of my shopping list would make shopping easier because I buy most of my thread online. It is still handy without that function, but I’ll have to keep looking for the perfect tool.

**Developer response:** This is a good suggestion and I'm happy to say that version 2.5, currently in beta testing, will have both import and export of Comma Separated Value (CSV) files. If you would like to beta test, please file a Support Request indicating that. Thanks so much!

### 5/5 — Thread not found

*2023-07-27*

Jim, I have Hemingworth Thread that I try to keep listed , so I know if I already have it. I have a spool of Color #1081 (Pacific Waters) and there is not a number listed, I have tried to find a way to add it but can’t seem to find a way

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for using our app! That color is in the Library, but if you don't see it you may be missing some updates. Check your settings to make sure you are signed in to iCloud. When you open Settings, look at the top where your name is. If it says "sign in" then you are not connected and you need to do that. This will get you updates to the Library as we release them. If you are signed in, but still unable to see it, please file a Support Request on the "Help & Tools" tab. Include screenshots if possible. I'm sure we can solve the problem for you quickly.

### 5/5 — Nothing short of AMAZING

*2022-10-08*

I never leave reviews- period
I never spend money on apps - period

So for me to do so, I must really want what an app has to offer and have a lot of faith in that app.
This app was that app for me and it has not disappointed.
I am less than a year into doing machine embroidery and started with basic thread collecting but wanted to transition to higher quality brands, so being able to cross reference colors was very important.
They have soooo many brands!

Then I found one that I was interested in and wasn’t in “my library”
I messaged and literally less than 24 hours later, all 118 colors were there!
And I was able to cross reference/match with amazing accuracy.

If you have any hesitation - don’t.

This app is worth EVERY PENNY

### 5/5 — What a great update

*2022-06-30*

For the serious embroiderer this is a must. It is easy to navigate, helpful with color and even includes your shopping list. I have used it for about 3 years now and kudos to those that worked so hard on the newest update.

### 5/5 — Works Well

*2022-06-07*

Thread library is not complete, but growing. For people like me that do different types of sewing the app has a broad range of brands and products. This is important if you do machine embroidery as there are so many brands available. The features of the app offer the ability to build your current inventory as well as shopping lists. The developer is responsive to additions. So it is to our benefit when we submit thread additions for the app.

### 5/5 — Great, a few tweaks possibly?

*2021-03-31*

First of all there really isn’t another app with this functionality so if you want a solution for organizing your collection without ads and headaches this is the one.

I would like a few improvements to the interface, such as maybe a “my brands” button to quickly select a manufacturer that I use and then add to my collection from there. It would save a couple taps and/or scrolling.

Could the app be setup to scan barcodes from the spool to add to my library? Or could a notes field be added to each thread so I could make a note if I have additional quantities of a product or maybe what projects I used a particular color on?

Overall I’m very happy with the app and I hope it continues to be supported for a very long time!

### 4/5 — Color Name

*2021-01-11*

Would be helpful to have color name with numbers. Would love to be able to sort by name as well. I would also like to be able to add spools in the shopping list tab. I also purchase some spools in large only, small or sometimes both sizes so it would be helpful for me to size options. Good app, just needs updating with more user friendly updates

### 5/5 — Very impressed!

*2020-12-29, version 1.4.3*

This app saves me so much time converting from one thread brand to another. I love having all my threads listed in one place

### 5/5 — Nifty tool and great developer

*2020-11-19*

I read the reviews and wavered on this purchase. It is more expensive than my average app purchase. However, I just inherited a massive thread supply to add to my collection. This app made it easy to complete my inventory and organize my threads by color family. It is also easy to convert from Madeira Rayon (the color palette used by my favorite machine embroidery designers) into my thread collection.

In less than a week, this has become valuable to me.

I had a question about something I wanted to do, emailed it to the developer, and got an answer that morning. Great service.

I highly recommend this.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2026-02-25, version 3.0.5*

Almost impossible to figure out how to use this app. Combine that with there being NO YouTube videos related to the app and you’re entering total waste-of-time territory. Come on folks. Revamp this app. Make it just slightly intuitive. Can’t be that hard!!!

### 1/5 — Impossible to add collection, they want to sell thread

*2025-10-10, version 3.0.4*

You can add a whole collection. Impossible to add single threads you have. Impossible to work. They seem to have influencers on sites raving about an awful product. You will spend hours and get nothing.

### 1/5 — App keeps crashing every time I try to open it.

*2024-11-27*

Since April 2024 the app constantly crashes every time I try to open it. I have tried removing and reinstalling the app without deleting my data and it didn’t help. I sent a message to the developer but haven’t had any response. I don’t want to have to re-enter all my data. I loved this app but it’s useless to me at the moment. Please help

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2023-02-11*

Do not spend your money on this app. Too many issues to list. It’s a waste of time and money.

### 1/5 — THREAD ART EMBROIDERY THREAD NOT INCLUDED

*2022-08-02, version 2.0.4*

I trusted the description & reviews for this app, only to find after paying $14.99 that it is totally useless to me. My of choice of thread isn’t uncommon, the company has been around for years, providing quality products. I’m a pensioner over 70 years of age and have lost my money, as I don’t expend I will be awarded a refund. If providing a listing of thread companies is too AMBITIOUS, why couldn’t a 7 day free trial be available?!

### 1/5 — ThreadBook app

*2022-07-06, version 2.0.4*

When this first came out it was great/ now it’s hard to navigate- doesn’t let me add the CORRECT threads.
Worthless waste of money

### 1/5 — No Isacord

*2020-02-16, version 1.3*

I purchased this app after a recommendation was shared in an embroidery group I belong too. I was instantly disappointed to find that Isacord thread is not included. A big waste of money for me!! I would like a refund.

### 2/5 — It was good till it wasn’t

*2024-10-21*

I really loved keeping track of the many types of threads I have for sewing, embroidery and longarming. Now every time I try to open the app it clicks open for one second and then closes again…and continues to do the same thing. I can’t get anyone to contact me back for help. Really wish I could get some help with this.

### 2/5 — Nothing works

*2022-05-28, version 2.0*

I have an iPad Pro and the information I had in it is completely gone .I tried to restore but there was no response . I am so disappointed because unpaid for so,etching that is useless to me i this state.

### 2/5 — No counter

*2020-07-26*

Disappointed in this. I wanted this for logging embroidery threads but there is no way to record how many of each colour you have. The FAQ gives a reason for this but it’s a deal breaker as far as embroidery thread goes, I need to know how many skeins I have. It might work well for sewing thread when you are only likely to need one reel for each project but it isn’t helpful for embroidery I’m afraid.

**Developer response:** We will be doing an update later this year to include this feature. Thanks for your feedback!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Outstanding app for thread organization!

*2026-06-24*

I’ve never felt compelled to leave an app review before, but ThreadBook deserves one. This is by far the most complete and useful app I’ve found for organizing embroidery, sewing, and quilting thread collections.

The thread matching feature alone is incredibly valuable, but what really sets ThreadBook apart is the ability to manage inventory, keep track of colors, and even add custom thread names. It has made organizing my large thread collection so much easier and more efficient.

I also greatly appreciate the pricing model. Paying a reasonable one-time fee instead of yet another subscription is refreshing. No recurring charges, no constant upselling—just a well-designed app that does exactly what it promises.

What impresses me most is the developer’s continued commitment to improving the app. New thread lines and useful features are added regularly, making an already excellent app even better.

If you work with embroidery, sewing, or quilting threads, ThreadBook is an invaluable tool. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2026-06-17*

I was having a hard time finding a program that would convert Embroidex thread to other brands, I couldn’t even find a color chart for the Embroidex thread to download. I came across a mention of this app said it wasn’t free, but I thought I would give it a try. It is worth every penny! It has every brand available, every thread I chose to convert to another brand it has found the closet match, I was wishing that I could go in and change the colors, because the company’s colors aren’t very accurate and found that I can. I can actually take pictures of the thread for an accurate color. Love, love, love this app. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Awesome resource!

*2025-11-21, version 3.0.4*

I’d forgotten I had this. Not a good thing to forget as this is a HUGE solution to a headache problem all sewists and embroiderers face. I can’t say enough good things about

### 5/5 — Great app for managing thread

*2025-05-17, version 3.0.3*

Easy download and app to use. I now have all my thread inventory— different vendors, ThreadBook types in the app. I love it. I have tried excel, marking up paper ThreadBook charts etc. this is a dream come true!

### 5/5 — Excellent app and customer service!

*2025-05-17*

Thread Book has been so helpful keeping up with the plethora of thread I’ve accumulated not only from regular shopping, but from estate sales as well. I recently noticed the iPad app was not showing the multiple spools when I had recorded more than one spool. I contacted customer service and within an hour Jim responded and fixed the issue with the latest update.

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2025-03-01, version 3.0*

Excellent app to have for inventory and conversions amongst a lot more!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2024-10-29, version 2.5.1*

It’s great for matching embroidery thread colors.
Keeps me from buying the same color twice when I am looking for embellishment thread, now I always know what I have!
Nice job.

### 5/5 — Threadbook is the BEST!

*2024-08-03*

Threadbook is the best method for keeping track of the threads I have and ones I need for my embroidery and sewing. It is easy to use, amazingly accurate, and frequently kept updated. I am very impressed with the developers of this application. I’ve tried many methods in the past and this is definitely the best. Thank you!!

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2024-06-23*

Love this app. Has all my threads in one place! If you’re a crafter you need this app!

### 5/5 — Wonderful app - and great support

*2024-06-20*

I’ve had the app about ten days now, and it’s already saved me countless hours of searching for matching colors in alternate thread lines. Very easy to use!

The ability to export thread lines allows them to be imported into digitizing software - a fabulous plus. I’m now able to use my preferred threads for any design without tedious and time-consuming searching for similar colors.

And the support is the best I’ve seen in any app — quick response, clear explanations, and quick fixes for any bugs.

If I could give it 6 stars, I would — best hobby-related app I’ve ever used.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your kind words! User feedback is priceless, and the main reason we added the export function you mentioned.
