### 2/5 — Brilliant concept but app doesn’t do what it says it will

*2025-11-24, version 2.9*

Brilliant concept but doesn’t function properly. Misses more than half of the books photographed despite limiting number of books to around 20 at a time, books being well lit, aligned perfectly and in focus. And if I look up those titles manually the app missed, the books are indeed for sale on Amazon and eBay. Also screens don’t look like what the app page depicts - there’s no detailed information about sales history, ranking etc - there’s a list of prices under the book title but you can’t drill down further. It averages the prices for you but there are almost
always weird outliers of high prices on listings that the book has never sold for, so the average value listed is inaccurate. If you could get this to actually work it would be the best reseller tool ever - so hope you figure out how to improve it. Good luck!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2025-09-15*

I downloaded this app and gave it the old college try. Unfortunately, it produced results for the first ten or so items and then showed no results for any subsequent scans. Re-scan of earlier items did not produce results any longer. Not reliable whatsoever. Also, the free trial didn’t work. Got charged immediately.

### 1/5 — Only works sometimes, wildly inaccurate.

*2025-09-02*

It’s a great idea, poorly executed by a developer that just doesn’t care about his product. It’s currently not working at all. Will they fix it? Probably, but who knows when. ZERO customer service, don’t even bother trying. When it does work it’s wrong about 90% of the time on values.

### 2/5 — Can’t afford it

*2025-08-14*

Would love to try out your app but I cant afford it. Maybe offer a reasonable monthly. Or even three month plan to give people a chance to actually try it out. First month half price or something. Idk but I can’t pay that kind of money especially with only one week to test it out.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work no support

*2025-08-06, version 2.9*

Another app that promises the world yet doesn’t work. Support an inactive Facebook page.

### 1/5 — ChatGPT is free and more accurate

*2025-07-24*

Using this I thought this would be fantastic way to work out the value of books, but while using it for the past hour for every hundred books I’ve scanned I reckon at least 30 we’re not just incorrect. They were non-existent.

At one point it seemed to scan a nail on the wall above the bookcase and gave me a book title.

Later on I kept getting the same book title whenever it scanned vacant spaces.

For the price it’s highly inaccurate.

It does have a great feature where you can tap the book where it tells you the value and it will show on the image where that book is located on the bookcase, although quite often it’ll just select a random nail on the wall, it’ll select completely wrong book because it miss scanned or it’ll select a vacant gap and say it’s a book that doesn’t exist.

It has potential but in this day and age with the advanced AI systems out there this is not really helpful for the price.

I tried doing small groups of books with bundles of five. I’ve tried doing an entire bookshelf and accuracy either way is not very accurate.

### 1/5 — No instructions.

*2025-06-17, version 2.7*

Scanner doesn’t seem to work. No instructions how to use it.

### 1/5 — Why I been charge?

*2025-04-18, version 2.7*

I canceled my subscription 4/8 & I was charged again on 4/10 weekly subscription $6.36? Please fix the problem

### 1/5 — It’s really a shame it doesn’t work

*2025-03-22*

The app worked for me for a couple of days and found books (most were hilariously wrongly identified but sometimes it would get it right). Now the app doesn’t work at all. Takes forever to scan.. then 0 books. Frustrating waste of time. Also zero tech support or answering emails.

### 1/5 — False information

*2025-02-26, version 2.7*

My stepdad passed away and has a huge library so I used the free trial and the app showed me I had over $200 worth of books on 2 of the shelves. I tried looking for a couple titles it listed as $50 books and I had a hard time locating them on the shelves…I didn’t think much of it, but when I went back a week later to try again, I had to pay for the app. I did the same scan and now there is $0 worth of books on those same shelves. This app is a scam. It showed me during the free trial what I wanted to see so I would pay for the app. The books it was saying was on the shelf weren’t there and when I did the same exact scan I had nothing of value. When I looked up a couple books individually. A few of them were going for $15-100 because some were first editions from the 1920’s. I wouldn’t trust this data base and that’s my honest opinion.

### 3/5 — It’s ok

*2025-01-14*

It is a good idea and I am looking for an app that does these things, but it needs to be improved a bit more. Whenever I check a book to confirm it, it almost always says it was the wrong one and would pull up the corrected one. I also tried to scan my shelf and it only found about half before the scan was complete. If it was updated to work better, I may pay for a subscription

### 1/5 — Bad for ebay booksellers

*2024-11-10*

The function to get the value of an entire bookshelf doesn't include giving you the "EBAY VALUE" Of each book. It only gives the price paid by "buyback" companies.

NOT USER FRIENDLY
PRETTY TERRIBLE APP

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — 0 stars

*2026-06-15, version 2.9*

Paid for a week. Immediately canceled. Total waste!!!

### 1/5 — absolutely terrible

*2026-05-28, version 2.9*

makes you pay for pro so you can see active listings. terrible app, i rather die in the pits of hell then waste my money on here. this app should get deleted permanently.

### 1/5 — Not finding it very helpful

*2026-03-14, version 2.9*

I can’t get it to scan a bookshelf like it says then when I try to scan the books it’s with the UPC. It just keeps saying loading results won’t actually ever load them. I have a lamp that use Google lens and search for it. Took it to a couple of different dealers and it’s valued somewhere between $1800-4800. This thing shows its value between four and 500.

### 1/5 — App just doesn’t work

*2026-03-07*

Man I have tried everything possible to make this work and it won’t read anything

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money!

*2025-12-31*

I’ve spent less than 10 seconds on this app and it’s already asking for a rating. Zero stars for you. Earn my stars AFTER I get to try out your app first!

Edit: after trying the app it turns out that even though they offer a 7-day free trial you have to pay for the subscription upfront. But even with the subscription the app doesn’t work. It says it can read barcodes. I tried 5 different barcodes on 5 different books and it wouldn’t read them. I tried the bookshelf option and it could only read 1 book from the entire shelf. It’s not even worth the free trial!

### 1/5 — Paywall - don’t waste your time

*2025-12-15, version 2.9*

Everything that makes this app seem attractive is locked behind subscriptions.

I understand that developers need to make money. But don’t make the the entire app useless unless you pay for it.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t give you the correct book

*2025-12-13*

I was so frustrated using this app. Totally excited to scan my bookshelf and get info on each book. It gave me names of other books. Nothing in the pictures I took. And I took so many pictures from all different angles and alone and with one another. Just kept giving me random books not even in my collection and nothing and I mean NOT ONE BOOK in the photos. So disappointed because I was so pumped. Deleting after only one day

### 1/5 — FOR BOOKS ONLY!!

*2025-12-06, version 2.9*

BEWARE This app will only let you look up value on books.
The house button DOES NOTHING.
Don’t waste your time

### 1/5 — Not suitable

*2025-11-16*

Identified two books out of 15. Plus one wrong.

### 1/5 — Gallery share bug - stuck

*2025-11-01*

Cool idea, but it doesn’t seem to remember anything I scan. Clicked no on sharing my photo library because I just wanted to use the camera, made the app unusable. Tried restarting, granting photo access, still stuck on the “gallery access denied”. Glad I didn’t pay the $90 before finding that bug.

Trial cancelled

### 5/5 — Dope like coke

### 5/5 — Extremely Powerful Tool

*2024-03-06*

Honestly I’m brand new to the reselling game. Im just starting out so I don’t have a ton of knowledge to be able to gauge the price of items as well as experienced sellers. So this app is a LIFE SAVER! The simple UI makes it very easy to flip through searches and find the items you need quickly. I don’t have the premium version so I can’t say how it displays the rest of the data you’d get with the premium but the free version is very powerful as is!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the kind review Jordy, Glad you're enjoying it!

### 5/5 — Great for eBay seller

*2023-10-31*

This app has all the analytics you need to find great products, and as an eBay seller it’s very helpful to have all the insights I have on terapeak but on mobile. If you are new to selling on eBay it’s also been great for learning resale values of common thrift finds, without a doubt 5 stars.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for trying it out!

### 5/5 — So fast

*2023-10-10*

I switched from bookscouter to using the shelf scanner on this app for the last few days and although it can mess up sometimes (I guess it’s still in Beta though so makes sense), when it works man it saves me so much time, and then I just use the barcode scan on bookscouter to double check prices of high value books on the shelf scan if I need more accuracy. Thriftmagic + bookscouter is a powerhouse!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind review!
