### 3/5 — Great but having problems playing messages

*2026-08-29, version 2.1.5*

It’s very well organized and contains lots of resources. A couple of problems:

1. I have found the app frequently has problems playing or loading the Bible messages. Sometimes nothing plays and I have to redownload the app to try to get it working. Other times, I have it playing and I pause it or maybe the app crashes but I lose my place. Can be pretty frustrating.

2. The Mark as Complete function doesn’t always work. There is a point while working through a book that the button stops working, and I can’t mark my progress, so I have to remember which chapter I left off.

I hope these can be fixed sometime in the future

### 4/5 — Love Dr. McGee, wish the app wasn’t so glitchy

*2026-05-14, version 2.1.4*

I listen to two lessons on my way to work, currently in 1 Peter. I’m on iOS 18.5. It takes several seconds for most things I tap on to respond, and getting the lesson to play usually depends on which menu I play it from, switching menus and trying again, and rebooting the app several times. It sometimes will and sometimes won’t automatically play the next lesson, (again often depending which menu is open) and very often won’t save or remember which lessons I already listened to. Very frustrating when I’m trying to get it to work in the car. But the actual lessons are wonderful, my whole family loves Dr. McGee

### 2/5 — Broken?

*2026-02-02, version 2.1.2*

I have LOVED this app and use it multiple times daily to study multiple books of the Bible, however, this morning something is wrong!!! The app is very sluggish and will not allow me to do anything/navigate at all! Help! Thank you and God bless!

### 3/5 — Still Good

*2025-12-05, version 2.1.2*

Runs a little slower than other Apps But a very good App

### 4/5 — Bugs?

*2025-11-26, version 2.1.2*

Love the app. Use it everyday. Sometimes though it just won't start. It wouldn't today even after restarting my iPhone. I deleted the app and am redownloading it now. Hope it works or I guess I just go directly to TTB.org blessings!

### 5/5 — Ronaldbell

*2025-11-15, version 2.1.2*

5 starts

### 5/5 — Real review

*2025-11-12, version 2.1.2*

Love the app and how it teaches you the Bible and explain the scriptures with meaning

### 5/5 — Absolute truth

*2025-10-15, version 2.1.2*

It’s the best app I have on my phone

### 4/5 — Windy panhandle plains of Texas

*2025-10-04, version 2.1.2*

I really enjoy listening to J Vernon McGee . And this app is fine. However, once or twice a month I have to delete the app and start all over because it will not load or when it does it doesn’t play. I don’t know if it’s a bug but it’s becoming redundant. Won’t stop listening but wouldn’t mind a bug free app.

### 3/5 — Great study app but BUGGY

*2025-09-18, version 2.1.2*

I’ve used the app for years and like to listen to Dr. McGee as I’m driving.

The app has now stopped letting me continue with my daily studies and will ONLY play the daily radio broadcast. I selecte a study in the OT or NT, hit play, and the current daily study plays. Very frustrating.

I’ve uninstalled & reinstalled 3 times now. No fix.

Also there seems to be some download limit of the lessons. I was traveling across the country and couldn’t download all the books of the OT. Only got to about Psalms and then it wouldn’t download anything else.

### 5/5 — Better than ever!!

*2025-09-11, version 2.1.2*

The TTB team continues to work hard to deliver a GREAT experience of Dr. McGee’s life-changing teaching. Access to the Bible in audio and text enables me to engage the Bible passage before listening to Dr. McGee. Thanks for a fantastic App!

### 3/5 — Prefer the older version

*2025-09-06, version 2.1.1*

Wish they did not make me upgrade the to the new version still love hai sermons hate the new app

### 5/5 — I Love this App

*2025-08-23, version 2.1.1*

Through the Bible is an excellent resource for anyone who is interested in learning about God. Recent Technical issues have been fixed. Thank you THU the BIBLE team for all of your support and hard work. May God bless you.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Have to give phone number now to listen.

*2026-08-23, version 2.1.5*

App used to work great, now they require you to give your phone number to listen to the Thru The Bible segment . Not an option , a requirement. Why should they need my number? Deleting app now.

### 1/5 — Used to be great

*2026-02-24, version 2.1.2*

The new app is linking far too much personal information. My family is not allowed to download it or use it. Thoroughly app was not nearly so invasive. A simple web search on Thru The Bible. Also try to link to my phone, preventing me from downloading, free booklets and Resources. Something has changed and we are no longer able to use vernon mcgee’s resources on our cell phones because of this. … I’m back to the bookcases and old recordings on my desktop. Too bad the app is demanding so much private information. it’s sad to say goodbye, after listening to vernon mcgee since 1981

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2026-02-02, version 2.1.2*

I hate complaining about something free and with teaching I thoroughly enjoy but this app is plagued with bugs. Half the time it won’t load the content, it sometimes won’t check off where you stopped and started listening making it hard to track your progress. Also though this has improved, sometimes it won’t hold your place in a particular teaching if you had to pause it. I’m debating deleting it altogether as it’s too frustrating on a daily basis to use. It’s a shame as I thoroughly enjoy Dr. McGhee’s teachings.

### 1/5 — This app keeps getting worse and worse

*2025-10-01, version 2.1.2*

Update: Truly sad that TTB has caved to the growing anti-privacy and insecure practices that social media is promoting. I have supported this ministry for years, but that is unfortunately ending until common sense returns to the board.

How can anyone view the privacy policy if they have no way to view it? Clicking on anything other than the donate link on the website just returns you to the app store. Seems greed has finally captured the hearts of this ministry. Truly sad and I am sure McGee would not approve at all?!
😞

Update: First off I need to state that the poor review does not reflect my view of the organization as a whole... I have listened and supported this ministry off and on since the early 80s, and very much enjoy McGee's content. With that said, the app is still broken. Content does not load, and the business decisions being made have forced me back to listening to the radio... I am a bit more knowledgable than the average user, having worked in IT since before the Internet was public and currently supporting literally 100s of online companies, it is obvious to me that TTB has been influenced by the deceptive marketing and analytics side of the Internet. Understand while you may not think you are collecting personal information, the use of beacons to record access, requiring a login, along with a record of an IP is enough to positively identify anyone. And how you store that information is important, because when you get hacked (not if, but when... it is happening every minute in the fortune 500 space, how much are you spending on security?) the information you store will become public almost immediately. Most people do not even understand the cell carriers and ISPs are selling their data both as aggregate, and individually for marketing purposes. All you need is a single line from an DNS log accessing a web beacon to associate a name with a domain.

I might provide a positive review if you remove the account requirement to access content. The app appeared to break when that was implemented, and along with the new extensions for webkit to block beacons and anonymize connections in iOS 15+, this has the app unusable with any kind of online security enabled. I do thank TTB for the reply finally, but unfortunately, nothing has changed for this user. :( --- The content does not seem to load on iPhone SE running iOS 15.6. The Daily card at the top of the page never loads. The Question and Answers and Sunday Sermon cards load, but when clicked it reads 0 of 0 complete with no content loaded in the list. This was happening intermittent before, but now it is happening everytime the app runs. I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling on two identical phones and it does not resolve the issue. I hope the developers can figure it out.

UPDATE: It seems to be related to the developers allowing the mining of personal info by requiring an account. This really saddens me. Such a great app before all the analytics and privacy violations were added. I guess it is back to recording it off the radio. The ethics of this app is not Christian... I hope TTB will educate themselves regarding technology, and not cave to the worlds deceptive online practices.

### 1/5 — TTB App

*2025-09-10, version 2.1.1*

Unable to open

### 1/5 — Changes to TTB online

*2025-09-10, version 2.1.1*

Well I tried to go online for McGee’s version on Ezekiel 4:7 discovering I need a dog gone app! Clicked and then BILLED! Whoa there fella. I personal meet McGee ‘76 Park of Pines and have followed and supported the program far before ttb began keep records! I don’t like this change. Now I’ll go and open one of the McGee 5 books. Disappointed in the change. Somewhat like Christian valves and doctrine. It all slides downhill.

### 1/5 — Content is wonderful! Can’t access it half the time!

*2025-08-23, version 2.1.1*

I love Dr. McGee! But no matter how many times they update or change this app, it winds up too buggy to use. They need to hire the best programmers to make this app work smoothly. I’m going to have to delete it and reload it all over again for the umpteenth time.

### 1/5 — Won’t let me open the app

*2025-08-10, version 2.1*

I was using this app until I couldn’t. Now every time I press the app- it just blinks out and disappears- won’t open. I miss listening to Dr McGee

### 1/5 — Something is wrong with this app

*2025-07-29, version 2.1*

When I try to open this app nothing happens. It just closes out immediately. I hope you can fix this soon. Otherwise I really liked this app when it was working.

### 1/5 — Too Complicated

*2025-07-25, version 2.1*

Waste of time and resources. Took a great app and ruined it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — TTB—a Lifeline

*2026-08-18, version 2.1.5*

Dr. Mcgee’s 5 year systematic teaching from Genesis through Revelation has been my daily companion for over 20 years. The Through the Bible app enables me to access the teaching on demand—anytime/anywhere. Dr. Mcgee’s Bible teaching offers the richest in-depth study of the entire Bible that is available. Get on the “Bus” and be blessed!

### 5/5 — Great resource!

*2026-01-31, version 2.1.2*

I recently started using the app after listening on the radio for years. I find it easy to use and a great resource. Also looks great and it brings honor to God and Dr. McGee’s teaching. If you’re going to do something for the Lord it should be done with a commitment to excellence. They have certainly done that. Thank!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-12-29, version 2.1.2*

The app works flawlessly on my older tablet too. Great optimization.

### 5/5 — Ditto Wendy Panhandle…

*2025-12-18, version 2.1.2*

I have to “re-do the app” to play it over. I like to play it more than once. It is definitely worth the inconvenience, but I wish I didn’t have to do that.

### 5/5 — Absolutely love this app! Recommend 1000%

*2025-12-08, version 2.1.2*

I'm gaining a much deeper appreciation for the Old Testament laws and ceremonies.

### 5/5 — The best Bible teacher, now in my pocket. Amazing.
