### 4/5 — 5 stars but 4 just to note about a problem

*2023-07-14*

Okay, so I’ve had this game for a while now. Everything about this game is PERFECT! But there’s one slight issue, When you press down, it works fine. But if you swipe up, left. Or right, the beetle has a slight delay that could make you loose between it turning and you swiping. I’m on touchscreen, I have no problems but this and I continue to make things like this. Please calibrate the sensitivity if you can 😄

### 4/5 — New favorite

*2022-10-22, version 1.05*

I love rhythm games and am quite an expert. I came across this game and it’s even challenging for me. I got the hang of the controls and became addicted. Planning to get S on all levels. However where are my Game Center achievements? It’s not a big deal but the button for Game Center is grayed out. I highly recommend this if you love music games and want to challenge yourself.

### 4/5 — Just Missing One Thing

*2022-09-20, version 1.05*

Love this game, played it on PC a while back and when I saw that it had been ported to iPad I immediately jumped on it. The graphics are great and the game runs smoothly, plus the game itself is so so satisfying (the best rhythm game that I have played except for Beat Saber). There is only one thing I want from this though… Add support for keyboards! I have the iPad Pro and I got the Apple Magic Keyboard with it, and I miss being able to play this with keyboard controls. The magic keyboard is already so integrated into iPad OS, it shouldn’t be too hard to add support for this too, would it?

### 4/5 — Really fun

*2022-06-27, version 1.05*

I had a blast in this game the levels are pretty fun just it’s not too good on a phone I feel the console version is better but still one of the better Apple Arcade games

### 4/5 — Good, just one issue

*2022-05-07, version 1.03*

The game is really good, I just can’t figure out how to change the language options… maybe the developers could make it easier to do, since I can’t find the options for it

### 3/5 — Poor touch response

*2022-02-19, version 1.03*

Any jump has a solid 30 percent chance of registering as a swipe for me. Makes the 2nd level absolutely miserable, I’m going to have to drop this one as a result

### 3/5 — Instructions??

*2021-12-07, version 1.03*

I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do. There are no instructions. I spend 5 minutes making left turns and nothing happens. I know there is more but I cannot figure out how to play this game :/

### 4/5 — Nearly Perfect

*2021-11-22, version 1.03*

I’m absolutely loving this game. The music, rhythm, and arcade action make for one of the best mobile gaming experiences I’ve had. And it would be nearly perfect if not for the lack of level selection.

I can’t select sub-levels and this is just exhausting. I’m trying to S rank each level and if I want to go back to attempt something like 4-23, I can’t! I have to go through all of level 4 again and that’s just exhausting.

I hope they update this soon.

### 5/5 — Confused but love it

*2021-11-08, version 1.03*

So if I could be describe this game is would be “ A acid trip for bugs” which isn’t a bad thing I love the game I just wish I knew what was going on in that world.

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2021-11-07, version 1.03*

The game is beautiful the graphics, the sound, everything. I love the game, the sound is great, and so is the concept. It is a amazing creative game and I’d like to say a good job to whoever came up with the idea, and made it. I hope u keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Wow

*2021-11-03, version 1.03*

I never ever write reviews for apps but wow. This is one of the best games available on a mobile device. Love the aesthetically pleasing look of the levels. Also love the electronica music added. Amazing and if it were on sale for 30$ I would buy it.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2021-10-19, version 1.03*

The audio doesn’t line up with my Bluetooth headphones. I wish there was a way to sync audio

### 5/5 — Kind of easy

*2021-10-15, version 1.03*

I would really recommend this game to you a lot Because it’s actually a challenger

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Painful

*2022-04-19, version 1.03*

One of the least fun experiences I’ve had in a long time. This game genuinely brought me pain. the sound design is horrid, the map effects are overwhelming if not blinding at times and the clarity on what obstacle is coming up next so impossible to read at times that you just have to guess what’s coming next. 1/5 will not be playing again.

### 1/5 — Will not let me play

*2021-10-04, version 1.01*

I have downloaded, uninstalled and reinstalled this app and it will not let me play. The app will open and the opening screen will appear but no matter how long I wait it will not pull up any play or game options. I have also restarted my phone and tried again but it still won’t work.

### 2/5 — Good game brought down by bad controls

*2023-10-02*

I really want to like that game, but the touch controls are very finicky and unresponsive, which is a major problem for a rhythm game like this. I keep getting stuck on this one level because the game cannot respond to my touch inputs fast enough, and it doesn’t register my swipe up motion if it’s preceding my another input. Even when I completely over exaggerate the swipe up motion, it still registers it as a tap and not a swipe. I don’t mind playing with a controller, but I shouldn’t be essentially forced to due to bad touch controls. The music and visuals are great, and this has strong potential, but the touch controls are just too frustrating.

### 2/5 — Not for m me

*2021-10-16, version 1.03*

Well, I guess this one isn’t for me. I tried to like it. I kept going back over and over hoping I’d finally “get it”, but no. Bottom line, I just can’t the hang of the controls. As basic as they technically are, I even looked them up online (which the very fact I had to do that constitutes a fundamental design fail), and even “knowing” what I’m meant to do, there’s an utter disconnect between those supposed touch gestures and the actual gameplay. Oh well - the game has enough excellent reviews to drive the point that to each their own.
The second star in my rating is for production/design quality. The game really is very pretty.

### 2/5 — Not good

*2021-10-13, version 1.03*

Seems like the game will randomly fail to register my taps and swipes. It goes too fast to recover from a failed input, you just crash. Two crashes fail the run. Flappy Bird levels of frustration are felt you have to repeat the same section 23 times because your character failed to move.

### 2/5 — Poor Touch Controls

*2021-10-07, version 1.02*

The game is similar to the desktop version but the touch controls just aren’t tight enough to enjoy the game. At the later levels the game demands that during flight(swipe up) while also swiping left/right for walls and the game has trouble recognizing those gestures. And the two options for changing lanes is bad as well.

The touch zone for pausing/opening the game menu always requires 3 taps to open.

### 3/5 — Lane changing impossible

*2022-10-02, version 1.05*

This game is fantastic until it introduces lane changes in world 4. The default tilting method is way too sensitive and imprecisely timed for such a strict rhythm game, and the on-screen tap target alternatives move me two lanes every time—to the point it almost seems like a bug. I’m sure it’s great with a controller, but that’s not for me. I guess it’s three worlds and done without one.

### 3/5 — The feedback is bad..

*2022-05-01, version 1.03*

I had a lot of trouble with the touchscreen feed back, I’ve have so many times where I know is wiped and I lost. this game is amazing but I really want the devs to do something about this.

### 3/5 — Good concept, not for touchscreen at all

*2022-03-05, version 1.03*

In the end, it all came down to struggling with the touchscreen controls — this isn’t supposed to be the real challenge of the game, sadly.

This game is great. It is intentionally designed to be hard and the fun is to challenge your reflectivity during the high-speed rush. Everything is cool except that you HAVE to use a controller or keyboard to manage everything. Your mistakes are only tolerated down to a window of less than one second which is way below the sensitivity of touch screen gestures. There is simply no way to make your swipes faster than the game allows, not to mention that you NEED to chain many such swipes in a perfect stream in order to move on since level 3. So if you really like this game, go play it on a PC or console, not on an iPhone or iPad.

PS: I knew the game supports Bluetooth controllers. But who would actually use a controller on a cellphone to play a game. Lol

### 3/5 — Sketchy Swipes

*2022-02-25, version 1.03*

The game seems to only register swipe gestures around 80% of the time, making later levels more or less impossible to play. Seems like it has a lot of potential otherwise.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing and perfect for mobile play

*2024-09-15*

This game is so fun. I love challenging myself to get an S rank on every level. The music and atmosphere is amazing. It takes a second to get used to swipe controls but once I did I had a blast. So so fun. One of the best mobile games I’ve played :)

### 5/5 — These reviews…

*2024-01-24*

Some of these reviews are just nitpicks. They complain about how the tutorials are vague. I easily got them first or second try. They also say how the timing is behind and it screws them up but most of the time it’s lag. All you have to do is swipe slightly early. It’s a great game! This must have taken a lot of time.

### 5/5 — Love this game and the development

*2024-01-23*

You guys ROCK a and I think you should make new games, and I love melodies and space so i think you just are so awesome! I love far parts of space and what it would be like if it were like this, and it dazzles me how real you made it look and sound, and I just discovered that people at NASA are making a space program to launch a photographer to study a planet with CIVILIZATION AND LIGHT!!!!!

### 5/5 — Just s

*2023-08-10*

This game was fantastic I completed all of the levels at s score and it was really challenging 😰 now i came to see other reviews and I realized it is harder to play on the touchscreen rather than keyboard and now I’m really proud of myself for doing it on touchscreen 😂

### 5/5 — One of my favorite games

*2022-09-13, version 1.05*

I love this game. Thumper describes itself as “rythm violence” and that perfectly describes what you’re in for. The vibes, the gameplay, the music, everything. Absolutely perfect. I have it on my Iphone and PS4 and planning on getting it in vr, it never gets old. Hits harder than a truck

### 5/5 — This game is PERFECT for a level creator

*2022-07-13, version 1.05*

Most games are fit for a level creator but THIS GAME, would be PERFECT GAME FOR LEVEL CREATOR! The level creator in this game (would) be even BETTER THAN WORLDBOX!!!!!!
And if you ask me, i'd say that worldhox holds the top level creator right now, but you could possibly TAKE OVER THAT POPULARITY!!!!! With one simple level creator (you get to pick if it's a circle or triangle boss but the game picks which final boss depending if it's your 1st level, 2nd level, etc.) This game could possibly have the most popular level creator and you would make possibly (POSSIBLY!) Make $100 A DAY from your non-🍎🕹thumper just because of level creator

### 5/5 — Best mobile game I’ve ever played

*2022-06-29, version 1.05*

I’m a daily Xbox gamer yet i find myself playing this game more than any Xbox game now! Other than the Apple arcade NBA 2k, this is by far the best mobile game I’ve ever had the opportunity to play. I would never write a review but this game absolutely deserves one.
6/5 stars from me!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2022-03-10, version 1.03*

This is by far the best music game I have ever played. It feels so luxurious and fantastic, with all the monochromatic fluctuating designs. Something others may not like is the extremely steep learning curve. It will take much trial and error to get through.

A bug that I have is that I am not earning any achievements after I beat level 2. I have an S rank on levels 1 through 3, but I only have the achievements for beating level 1 and 2. Please fix this bug, thank you!

### 5/5 — Best psychedelic game

*2021-12-09, version 1.03*

I love the graphics, it’s psychedelic the rhythm is so fun to play along with and is not too distracting from the game. Awesome! This game is what made me subscribe to Apple Arcade!

### 5/5 — Smiling and laughing

*2021-12-01, version 1.03*

I legit caught myself smiling and chuckling to myself as I played. I haven’t felt that kind of genuine joy from a game in a while. Just had to share that. Playing this game is an experience everyone should enjoy!
