It does seem outdated a little though I think a modern app would be extremely popular especially if it allowed for HDR and correct colour balance calibration too ### 2/5 — Worked until ios18. Now crashes *2024-09-19, version 1.3.1* Since patching to ios18, the app says “updating assets”, then crashes to Home Screen. Thx you need to update the app to work with ios18z Apple HDMI adapter & an HDMI cable or mirrored Apple TV mode. Gets you about 30-40% to a pro ISF/THX calibration if you do it RIGHT. I’m an ISF calibrator lvl 1&2 and use this to do quick checks. To the idiots complaining about no ‘sharpness’ adjustment- FYI, the ‘sharpness’ control- 90% of the time has nothing to do with sharpness!! Samsungs should be ZERO. The higher ‘sharpness’ goes the less ‘sharp’ it gets. ### 4/5 — Great tool for tv or projector *2024-08-15, version 1.3.1* Gets me at about 90% of what a professional calibration would and it’s easy to use! Works great with my Apple TV and projector. More often than not it opens then immediately closes, or won’t open at all. Finally got it to work today with a lightning to hdmi cable. Never could get it to work with screen mirroring. Le urge una actualización a esta aplicación para Atmos ### 2/5 — Very much outdated. *2021-04-10, version 1.3.1* First of all to the guy with the LG Nano who isn’t happy with the HDR/SDR performance your tv isn’t even capable of properly displaying HDR10 or Dolby Vision as it’s meant to be seen as it lacks the luminance output, color gamut coverage and is overall not a good tv. LG makes good OLED’s, besides that their non-OLED tv’s are all budget crap that may be able to accept an HDR signal just like a Samsung NU7100 can but it certainly can’t display it properly. Second, if you’re a novice home theater enthusiast get yourself an SPL meter, spend $75 on a UMIK-1 USB microphone, download REW for free and now you have the ability to accurately gain match all of your channels as well as measure your actual in room frequency response and identity any room modes, peaks and nulls which may be helped with a little placement EQ, listening position EQ, or even PEQ via a MiniDSP 2x4HD in unison with your AVR’s room correction software (Yamaha YPAO, Denon/Marantz Audyssey XT32, Pioneer MCACC Pro, Dirac Live, Anthem ARC, etc) frequency limited to correct only up to the room transition frequency which is generally 200-500hz. In addition your iPhones microphone is not calibrated for C weighting and slow response nor is it calibrated for this program. Spend the $40 on a Spears & Munsil 4K UHD test pattern disc. Overall, most modern mid level tv’s come relatively accurate out of the box and without a color meter and calibration software you’re not doing yourself any favors. You cannot calibrate by eye. All in all this is an outdated utility from the days of audio where you were told to place absorption at the 1st reflection points and run your speakers full range if they had a -3dB point of 45hz. Don’t use it for anything else. iPhone cameras have got much better, be nice of the app was updated on that alone. With 4K HDR content the new norm this app is now useless. Please update the app! Also for anyone claiming this is calibrating their TV is sorely mistaken. All you’re doing is changing basic settings. Actual calibration is done using a hidden service menu that a professional technician can access using software or special button combination. Shame really. This was super useful in its day. ### 1/5 — Browser “app” in disguise *2023-10-26, version 1.3.1* Apart from most functionality being implemented by highly latent web browser views, the remaining aspects are embarrassing for an organisation responsible for THX. The actual THX calibration is nothing more than a video clip of stills that the user somehow must judge to be correct. I can remember the days of DTP where one would calibrate a scanner and monitor by way of a supplied calibration image and it was all done automatically. I think it’s pretty cool, but it could use an update. Plus I am unable to play the THX trailers this app offers. I could see this app being sort of forgotten, but I think a nice, solid update would be refreshing. Otherwise, I like it! Read below *2025-04-19, version 1.3.1* So good news is even after all these years with no updates it still works, so if your having issues follow my method, I mirrored this app to my OLED 4k TV, I have the old 5th Gen 4K Apple TV and was having issues at first like some of the reviews until I set it up differently, before I begin I went to the equipment section (Picture of the TV) and picked my TV brand and Apple TV as my connection I chose no sound bar since I’m not using one, I’m not sure if this is necessary but I was having issues so I decided to configure it and see if it worked. 1. Open the app and click get started on the home page, video will begin 2. Then on your iPhone go swipe down or up (depending how old your iPhone is) and find the screen mirroring option and click on your Apple TVs name 3. Your TV will connect and It will be a black screen but you will hear the ladies voice starting the video 4. On your iPhone exit the video, and restart the video 5. The video will show up on your TV working immediately, if you want to watch it then turn your iPhone side ways (landscape mode) so it shows it in full screen, you can now exit the video on your phone and go to the adjustment section ( wrench and screw driver picture) and begin, when moving from section to section you can hold it normal, you only need to hold it in landscape mode when your doing the tests so that the the images fill up your whole screen.
