### 3/5 — UI kinda sucks

*2026-08-28, version 26.08*

cool app, does what it needs to do but the UI sucks, it doesn’t seem they took too much time creating graphs or anything to really get an in depth look.

### 2/5 — Can’t see detailed RMD amounts

*2026-08-24, version 26.06.3*

The app tells me that I need to take RMDs, but kicks me out to the web site, which only tells me the total amount, not the amounts from each individual account; I have to call on the phone for that!

It’s really absurd that I can’t see the RMD amounts on the app!

The devs keep making unnecessary UI changes & forcing us to update, instead of making sure that basic functionality works properly.

My interest-only acct shows ZEROS for deductions, alongside the correct gross and net payment amounts.

### 3/5 — Organization is lacking

*2026-08-20, version 26.06.3*

It’s hard to tell where you’re going to find the things you need in the app. It could use an organizational revamp.

### 2/5 — New app not as good as the old one.

*2026-08-14, version 26.06.3*

Bring back the ability to see monthly growth!

### 4/5 — Many good features, some weaknesses

*2026-08-07, version 26.06.3*

The TIAA App has a nice clean look and many positives. But that doesn’t make it a “5”. I have several different types of TIAA accounts. (1) Active retirement from my current employer, (2) inactive funds now solely in TIAA traditional from past employers, (3) a rollover IRA, (4) a post-tax investment account, and (5) a 401K profit sharing plan from a side business. The app is GREAT for some of these. But it’s useless for #5 which inexplicably doesn’t show up at all. TIAA has been trying to solve this problem for months with no success so far. I recommend it for those with active or former retirement accounts.

### 4/5 — Getting better, but…

*2026-08-04, version 26.06.3*

I have used the app frequently for 5-6 years now, to check retirement account mutual fund and ETF values and periodically to trade. Unfortunately, access to my brokerage account is buried on a third screen, rather than linked on the Home Screen. Also, once I get there, I have always wondered at the logic of the ordering of the “My Holdings” list. It’s not alpha, not account value, and I don’t think it’s cost basis either. What’s more, the carat on the “Total Value” column header suggests I should be able to at least reverse the sort, which I can’t do either.

Once I’m in my brokerage account, the page headers don’t say “Brokerage” - as a visual cue that I am looking at only a subset of my total TIAA account.

I have bought and sold thru the app and it works OK.

I appreciate all the effort to get it this far. Hopefully it’s a work in progress with continuing improvements! Thank you.

### 2/5 — Mediocre At Best

*2026-07-04, version 26.06*

Relative to Fidelity and Vanguard this app doesn’t come close to matching up. It’s disappointing that TIAA can’t do better. It’s so hard to even get YTD information to compare performance. Why is the majority of the functionality so cumbersome to access? How about plots that I can compare multiple fund performances? Functionality is short on delivery and amateurish.

### 2/5 — Key Functionality Missing

*2026-06-30, version 26.06*

I had expected to be able to efficiently manage our portfolio via the app but I do not see a way to do simple things like view the YTD return of specific investments, there is no way to generate an on demand statement to give me a snapshot of our portfolio, the app also lacks the functionality to transfer funds from specific plan funds into a brokerage via the manage current investments process. I can’t recommend this app given these items missing and not allowing for seamless portfolio management process.

### 3/5 — Asset allocation Charts

*2026-06-25, version 26.06*

TIAAs circle chart is ridiculous the numbers on the side add up to 100% but the circle chart appears to go around 270 degrees… makes no sense at all. Worthless!

### 2/5 — Slow and far from intuitive

*2026-06-02, version 26.05*

Compared to an app like Merrill Lynch or Fidelity, both which I have used,
This TIAA app is hard to navigate, hard to find useful and in many cases necessary features and just plain behind the times. TIAA should model an update that reflects the great apps of competitors.

### 4/5 — Update not as functional.

*2026-06-02, version 26.05*

One of the things I use on the app is the ability to look at my holdings on my IRA accounts, click on a stock and get a detailed report showing my cost basis, value, gain or loss, and transaction history. I used to get the information on my iPad, but an upgrade on the iPad app caused that to fail. I did not get too upset because I could access the information on my phone. Now, with yesterday’s update, my phone does not access that page. My phone and iPad both are running the latest iOS. Please fix this quickly!

Edit: Another thing I dislike about the app is that it is not very useful for monitoring my trading. Once I place an order, I cannot monitor to see if it is executed and at what price—especially on limit orders. I am forced to use the website to get complete information.

### 2/5 — Very hard to easily see what exact investments you have

*2026-05-16, version 26.04*

I honestly do not get the high number of starts here. I use apps from three other brokerages and this TIAA app is easily the worst. The orientation toward retirement planning is good but it's very difficult and requires many clicks to actually see the value of the various mutual find investments on a given day. Confusing and not simple to just have that displayed. Should be a very easy thing to do. Like, a button, to display all mutual find investments. Not asking for a hard things. Instead, unintuitive many clicks to maybe see the only thing I wanted to see most of the time logging in.

### 2/5 — Not a site to review your accounts - now a site with products and promos and fluff.

*2026-05-16, version 26.04*

How many times do I have to click to get to my account balances??? Info used to be upfront as soon as you login. Very hard to wade through the promo and cross marketing to get to what you want to see to evaluate your investments and research other stocks or funds or ratings.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No easy way to know what is the gain/loss

*2026-09-04, version 26.08*

The balance change number involves both your own contribution and the gain/loss because of investment. No easy way to separate them and get a clue of investment performance.

### 1/5 — Marketing vs. Information

*2026-09-02, version 26.08*

The TIAA app is frustrating to use because the home screen provides very little useful information about my actual retirement accounts. The most prominent content should be things like account performance, allocation, recent gains and losses, and contribution information. Instead, a large portion of the screen is devoted to promoting additional TIAA services, such as Wealth Management. That makes the app feel more like a marketing channel than a financial management tool.

I should not have to scroll past advertisements for other TIAA services to get basic information about my own money. Please redesign the home screen around the information customers are actually opening the app to see, and move promotional content to a less intrusive location.

### 1/5 — Whack-a-mole App

*2026-08-29, version 26.08*

This app (and web site) just never matures beyond a beta version. Just trying to find information is all over the place (if it even works). The tap areas which do nothing is really precious. Find new developers and actually use real customers to refresh this app. Today, I’m getting a “sorry cannot login” error on the iPad but my iPhone works. Nothing changed on my end! 🤷‍♂️

### 1/5 — Fidelity is WAY better

*2026-07-16, version 26.06*

I have one external account that is intended to fund my automatic loan payments. I’ve spoken with four different representatives, and none have been able to get the automatic payments working. I rolled my accounts over to Fidelity because its app is much more user-friendly and its advisors are more efficient. Unfortunately, I still have to call TIAA every month to make a loan payment and then transfer the funds to Fidelity. This entire process should be automated, but after five months, TIAA still hasn’t been able to resolve the issue. It’s frustrating that such a basic function requires monthly phone calls.

### 1/5 — Disappointing if you want detailed information

*2026-07-04, version 26.06*

Useful for general information a day after trades are complete. Not so much for detailed information such as daily price changes, whether amounts or percentages (there is a bit of this information about four clicks into the app). Prices don’t update for several hours after markets close, so it’s best to wait until the next day to find accurate updates. Charts do not work on an iPad if trying to see different time frames. Even statements don’t appear in a timely manner (after email notification they are available). Disappointing.

### 1/5 — Stinks

*2026-06-30, version 26.06*

TIAA has one of the most difficult to navigate Apps/Websites there is

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-06-15, version 26.05*

The app is nice, whenever it decides to work properly. 50% of the time I get an error that says information is temporarily unavailable and i’m not able to see account information. Absolutely ridiculous

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-06-09, version 26.05*

So many things wrong with this app. The last straw was when I wanted to cancel a trade I had entered, and it told me I had to log into the website to do that.

### 1/5 — Can’t trade

*2026-05-22, version 26.04*

The app no longer is letting us trade stocks so we have to use the website, which is also difficult. We are considering leaving TIAA because of the annoying interfaces. The people are great, but the app and website are nightmares.

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2026-05-15, version 26.04*

Unfortunately, TIAA includes contributions in their gain metrics and make it difficult to actually see how a fund. Makes it seem like contributions are market gains. Also buggy.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2026-08-04, version 26.06.3*

This app is much better than most of the financial applications I have seen. It gives a very quick look at the dash board. That is a super over view. If there is a fault it is that the breakage account is added to both my wife’s account and also mine. That makes it look like there is twice as much money as there actually is

### 5/5 — Tiaa review

*2026-08-03, version 26.06.3*

TIAA is SUPER convenient, super speedy and super reliable. Both people in The company and the app. All the encounters I ever had in the app has been great

### 5/5 — Well designed

*2026-07-31, version 26.06.3*

I use the TIAA mobile app on my phone and IPad and find it to be user friendly.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-07-01, version 26.06*

This app is very useful. It does exactly what it promises. It updates account balances, and offers a lot of functionality. It’s a great supplement to the website and is much faster and easier to access. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Feedback

*2026-06-22, version 26.06*

I frequently use the app and find it very helpful for various reasons. It is user friendly and convenient. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Proud of investing!

*2026-06-17, version 26.05*

TIAA has always made investing a seamless and effective way of saving for my future. Having the secure app makes it fun to see the growth of that investment everyday! It has been so helpful in planning my future and knocking out any worries I had about retirement! Thank you TIAA!

### 5/5 — Like access, security

*2026-06-06, version 26.05*

Like multi factor authentication for security and the ease of accessing accounts. Like the +\- on the top for quick performance view

### 5/5 — New Change in the App

*2026-05-21, version 26.04*

I have used the TIAA app very frequently over the years to check balances and the developer recently corrected a problem I had experienced. It now works very well to provide the information I want quickly without too many steps. It’s very useful.

### 5/5 — Phenomenal App

*2026-05-14, version 26.04*

This app is great! It’s super fast to access your account and all essential information is right at hand.

### 5/5 — So easy!

*2026-03-19, version 26.02*

This app has excellent Face ID making log in fast and easy. Good information on current standing, but allows you to go back and look at past quarters as well.
