## What is Tick?

Tick is a daily loop, not a habit list. You start by naming who you want to be in ten years — that becomes a small set of daily habits, a journal, and a Today tab that keeps the loop visible.

It's built for people who've tried digital minimalism, deleted the apps, and come back. Tick doesn't compete for your attention. No streak flames, no reward colours — colour is for facts, not rewards. No ads, no tracking, no notifications engineered to pull you back in. Just what you need to see today.

What it does:

Habits you check off and graduate over time, so the list doesn't grow forever. A calendar shows which days you showed up, and lets you fill in a missed day within three. A journal with a science-backed prompt each day, analyzed on your device and never sent anywhere. Search everything you've written by word, place or date. Optional city on an entry, when you ask. Mark up to three standout entries a month, so the mark still means something. Stats built from your real entries: streaks, weekly completion, mood trends. Not fake wellness numbers.

Reminders run on your terms. Set the time and the weekdays yourself, or leave them off.

Everything stays on your phone. There's no account server, no sync, no way for anyone but you to read what you write. Sign in with Apple or skip it entirely — Tick works the same either way.

And it's yours to take with you. Export everything to a single dated file you can open and read for yourself, then restore it on another phone — merged into what's already there, or as an exact replace. Nothing is uploaded to make it work.

Tick is yours for 14 days. After that it's one payment, not a subscription. Decide not to pay and nothing you've written disappears: your journal stays readable and export keeps working. Only new writing stops.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-12

Tick fits the iPad now. In landscape you get two real columns instead of one stretched across the whole width, and navigation moves into a sidebar, where there's room for it. In a narrow Split View pane Tick uses the phone layout, because at that width it's the one that works.

On iPhone, Tick stays in portrait. Landscape was reachable but never designed for, so switching it off takes away a version of every screen you were never meant to see.

And after an update, a short sheet tells you what changed. It appears only when something actually changed, it covers only the device you're holding, and it carries nothing else. Tick has no account and no way to email you, so this is the only channel the app has. That's exactly why it won't be used for anything else.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-09

Export is here. Everything you've written — entries, habits, reminders, and the analysis Tick made for you — comes out as one dated file you can open and read for yourself. Restore it on a new phone or after a reset: merge it in, and nothing already on the device is touched, or replace, and the phone goes back exactly to the day you exported. It runs on the device. Nothing is uploaded to make it work.

Tick also has a price now. You get 14 days, then it's one payment — not a subscription. Choose not to pay and Tick doesn't lock you out: everything you've written stays readable, and export keeps working. Only new writing stops. If you were already using Tick before this update, it stays unlocked.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-09-02

No more streak flame, no more green — completion now shows in fill and weight, not colour. The accent appears exactly once, on today's ring.

A new calendar on Stats shows which days you showed up this month. Missed one in the last three days? Tap it and fill it in — it counts fully, for streaks and habit graduation alike.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-08-29

Add a city to an entry, when you ask. Tap Add location while you write. Tick remembers until you turn it off. The name is the city, not the street. With location now matches, because entries can actually store a place.

Tap Last 30 days on Stats for a short summary, generated on the device. Three themes and the arc of the month. Needs at least five entries in that window. Phones that cannot generate keep the counted summary that card already had. Nothing is sent to a server.

Fixed: editing an entry no longer wiped its standout mark or its location.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-25

Search your journal. Tap the search icon in the Journal tab and type what you're looking for: a word from an entry, a place, or a date. Dates work in your own language, so "August", "22" and "2026" all find what you'd expect.

Standout marks. Mark an entry that mattered, three a month. The limit is the point — a mark you can put on everything says nothing.

Reminders on your schedule. Pick the time and the weekdays for each reminder instead of taking 9:00 and 20:00. If you never open the new controls, nothing about your reminders changes.

Fixed: deleting one of two entries written on the same day reset that whole day's mood score, in Stats and in the widget. The entry you kept now counts.

Fixed: opening an older entry drew this week's chart next to that entry's score, so the card described two different weeks at once. The chart now ends on the day you're reading.

The Journal tab is quieter. Search sits behind an icon instead of a permanent bar, and the filter chips appear only when they're doing something.
