## What is Ticked 2?

I like checklists. Plain, simple checklists. And I couldn't find a nice, polished app that did as LITTLE as I wanted:
• Create and add to lists as quickly as I can type.
• Sync and share lists with others using iCloud.

So I made Ticked. And that's all it does.

This is my favourite checklist app that has become my go-to. Love the simplicity and elegance, and the ability to share checklists (either editable or read-only) with collaborators is fantastic.

One issue: Since updating my iOS I cannot share new checklists (can only set permissions, not actually send the invitation). Existing checklist permissions have the ability to share with additional people, so it looks like existing shares continue to work as expected. Help?

I love this app - just what I wanted but there’s just one thing. I have an iPad mini, an iPad and an iPhone. I want to have the app on each device and each device able to update my lists. Don’t know how to that and am finding it difficult to contact the developer.

Funny enough I was just researching how to make a lists for groceries or whatever that I could check off in notes and then this popped up in appAdvice. What a great app, so easy to use, and no bells and whistles to get in your way. I highly recommend it!

I love that it's so simple!

Just one thing that really bugs me: When you click on the button to delete all items, the app doesn't ask for confirmation. And since the delete buttons are right next to the share and sort buttons, you might end up deleting the list you wanted to share or sort...

And, there's no return button either, so it's completely gone in an instant.

It would be so great to have either of those features implemented!

Esta aplicación es muy útil para hacer listas sencillas. Perfecta y simple en su función. Sin embargo, últimamente al entrar a la aplicación las listas desaparecen completamente. Por ejemplo, mi lista de la compra desapareció cuando abrí la app en la tienda :( … Volví a hacer algunas de las listas y han vuelto a borrarse al abrir más tarde la aplicación, el mismo día.

### 2.4.1 — 2025-09-19

Apple reminded me that, after three years, I need to update or they'll take the app down! This update moves the data model over to Core Data with Cloudkit, meaning:

Pro: simpler, more reliable syncing between same-user devices using Apple boilerplate code.

Con: sharing between users has been dropped (at least for now). It's technically possible, so if there is demand I will look at incorporating it in a future update (in less than three years!). Feel free to email mike@mclay.dev to share your thoughts. I likely will not respond, but will evaluate demand accordingly.

Sometimes they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and then other times they're like "Yo APIs are SO old, they're written in hieroglyphs." So anyway, here are some updates:
• Implemented diffable datasources, compositional list layout and NSFetchedResultsController. Mmmmm.
• A little celebration for completing a list. You earned it.

### 2.3.1 — 2020-02-25

What an embarrassing fiasco. New version reverts to pre-2.2 codebase plus some small tweaks needed for post-iOS 13 rerelease. Unfortunately migrating the database back can be hit and miss, so users who updated to 2.2 may need to delete/reinstall. List items should sync back down from the cloud within a few minutes.

This update reverts the previous update to the good ol' Ticked. Enjoy :)

### 2.2 — 2020-02-23

So I've been sitting on this update for a while.

I've been unsure what to do with it. iOS 13 brought a new API from Apple called Core Data with CloudKit. Awesome, because it brings all the CloudKit syncing work that had to be done into a system API. Makes the core work of Ticked – storing lists on device and in the cloud – much more reliable and turn-key. A no-brainer.

But the API doesn't support sharing records between users. And so the issue has been, are the benefits worth the tradeoff of dropping sharing support (for the moment).  Ultimately, I've decided that it is. So here is v2.2, which includes a bunch of nice goodies from iOS 13 like Dark Mode and a bunch of just general improvements. It's a much better version of the Ticked you've been using.

Sharing support is disabled, hopefully temporarily. The lack of sharing support in Core Data with CloudKit has been raised quite a bit, and so I'm optimistic we'll see Apple add support (which I'll adopt ASAP). My apologies for the inconvenience, and I hope users will appreciate the rationale for the decision.
