## What is TideCast by Hohonu?

TideCast by Hohonu is the only app that provides live water level data from Hohonu’s own proprietary tide sensors, in addition to tidal predictions and weather forecasts for thousands of NOAA locations across the US and the Pacific. See nearby high and low tides at a glance, and dig into the details with graphs that track live water levels compared to predictions, refreshed every 6 minutes.

Features:

• Live tide data from 400 Hohonu sensors and NOAA stations that refreshes every 6 minutes.
• Over 1,500 NOAA locations across the US that provide tidal predictions 12 months in advance.
• TideCast proprietary prediction algorithm that uses machine learning and refreshes every 6 hours based on live Hohonu sensor data– up to 80% more accurate than traditional tidal forecasts.
• See stations nearby, or search the map for other locations and tap the heart to add to your Favorites.
• Weather conditions - view wind, sun and moon phase, temperature, and rain at each station (data source: NOAA).
• Share tide data via text, email, and social media.

Details:

Did you know that traditional tide predictions are based on historical data that don’t update with the latest observed readings? Hohonu aims to disrupt traditional tide forecasting methods by bringing live water level data and actionable insights right to your phone.

• Live tide sensors are labeled “Live”, with bar graphs showing recently-observed water levels.
• Stations labeled “Subordinate” are prediction-only locations that use NOAA’s prediction data.
• Long press on the graph and slide to see the predicted or observed tide levels at a specific time, past or future.
• Tap a station to see details for that location, including wind, precipitation, temperature, and UV index.
• Scroll along the calendar at the top to see predictions up to 12 months in advance for select stations

### 5/5 — Great for weather nerds

*2025-10-12, version 1.1.2*

This is a fun informative app for tracking water monitoring stations. Noah who works Hohonu is a great engineer.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2024-04-05, version 1.0.5*

Nice to have weather and tides all in one simple and accurate. Love the app!

### 5/5 — Beautiful and functional

*2023-12-12, version 1.0.1*

It was so cool to be able to look off the pier in town and know that there’s a sensor providing real time data about what’s happening on our own coast.

### 5/5 — Better data collection = better results 🙌

*2023-11-28, version 1.0.1*

As a waterman, many of my daily choices around activities rely on an accurate tidal readings. It’s great to be able to use an app that I can actually trust uses hyper accurate location specific data to inform its tide forecasts. I’ve been often underwhelmed by the many tide apps that pull from the limited geographical readings compiled by NOAA.

### 5/5 — Harmonic and subordinate in “harmony” finally

*2023-11-28, version 1.0.1*

I’ve long used tide apps or a quick google search to look up predictions for subordinate stations. And if a strong nor’easter came through on a high tide and I wanted to view the observed data from a real tide station, I’d have to go to NOAA Tides and Currents. I LOVE that now there’s an app that includes both that I can easily scroll around on a map to compare different stations to each other. Really nailed what I’ve been trying to find for a long time

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2023-11-23, version 1.0.1*

Simplifies data into easy graphs that make for easy planning. A must-have!

### 5/5 — Tell all of your friends!

*2023-11-23, version 1.0.1*

Precise predictions and intuitive interface. Perfect for planning beach days!

### 5/5 — Most accurate

*2023-11-22, version 1.0.1*

With global climates changing, seemingly, year by year, using historical data to forecast is becoming increasingly inaccurate. Live, real time data provides me with an accurate picture of how to plan my outdoor activities.

### 5/5 — Real-time tide data

*2023-11-22, version 1.0.1*

I have been loving using this app. So much data and all real-time. The predictions also seem really accurate, I’m just starting to pay attention to those.

### 5/5 — Cool

*2023-11-20, version 1.0.1*

Super cool app. Nicely visualized data!!!
